Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With 6 clubs chasing approx 3 players each at years end and only a very few quality players off contract it will be difficult to buy top class players. The only way forward is to sign quality development players and lock them up to contacts.Tigers must be trying harder in this regard as we do not have the recources of easts and broncos etc. With the coming of another qld team it is imperitive that we develop younger player

Agreed and a good post.

I believe the club has gathered together a good scouting and recruitment team with good contacts with junior football and schools. We have to recruit the best of the juniors at that level and bring them into our junior development system. Our coaching system has to be geared towards accelerated promotion into the NRL. If we can proceed on this basis, I believe WTs will have a sustainable football model and be successful.

If we are signing a halfback, 5/8 Phoenix Crossland at the end of the year from the Knights would be the player we should throw big money at for 2022. We need to stop with the ageing veterans.

We have Walters.

Walters appears to me to be a capable utility but i'm not sure he's even as good as what we currently have. Ideally we'd be looking for an upgrade on Marshall and Reynolds and I don't see Walters as any better. He's a handy utility imo.

Madden appears to be the organiser we need. We've got a couple of fine young halves in the 20s, young Camroux and the Aust Schools 5/8. So we have some talent coming through.

Anyone trying to justify Foran as potential signing is absolutely kidding themselves. Can't believe he's even being mentioned.

If we're getting Bellamy, he can bring with him the second set of books we can use. Problem solved.

Nah .. but dreams are free

I can’t believe that people on here believe that maddan is going to be our great playmaker, did u not watch the Canterbury cup last year he was lucky to hold his own in that grade .

I am one of those people and I watched him play the NRL trial and he handled it well. We each have different views on players and to me he plays the organising role well.

I also understand a couple of clubs are interested in signing him. So he must offer something. Like you he looked composed and organised in the couple of runs he had in the trials. My main concern is putting a rookie playmaker with Brooks

Isaako is a smart signing so don’t see it happening. Hopefully the club at least thinks about it.

he’s too short. We already have a short winger, we don’t need two imo

Isaako is a fullback

We don’t need one of those either.

ummm..what?
Douehi has played alright but he is a long way from proving himself as a consistent and dynamic fullback.
Anyway, Isaako's goal-kicking alone doesn't just get him into the team, it walks him in!
Take him in a heartbeat.

Walks him in on the wing.

Not as good a FB as AD imo.

Agree, Isaako is not a patch on AD.

However - who ever taught Brooks to tackle needs to have a go at Madden.

Part of the learning process. I remember the discussion in the Forum about Papenhuyzen either bring too small or injury prone (or both) to be an NRL fullback. It was obvious he was tough and determined. I like to believe we won't let another player of that quality slip through our net.
