Asu Kepaoa from Roosters has signed effective now.

Nice one - from DT

"The path to securing Sonny Bill Williams for the Roosters has been made a little easier with the Tigers snapping up young outside back Asu Kepaoa immediately."

That'd be Roosters alright, let go of a guy at development player level and replace with a Dual International who usually commands a million dollars plus per year.

Anyway, word was (from NBWT on Twitter I think I read it) we were going to sign him from next year anyway, but got him early thanks to the Roosters moving their deck chairs around.

From what I’ve read WT supposedly asked the chooks for Asu to be released earlier and we were knocked back...Now that the shoes on the other foot their like here his yours...Why the hell should we do them any favours to help them out to get SBW?

They'll sign SBW regardless. At least we get something out of their dodgy deals.

I hope Asu Kepoa is signed by Wests Tigers TODAY in case there are hiccups with Sonny Bill's Roosters contract. Kepoa hs real potential.

SBW isn’t NRL level happy to sign a young guy with potential and let them have him for half a season

I think SBW would still do a great job for them, not as good as last time, but still a massive job. He'd only go to a few clubs and we aren't one of them. I'm happy atm to keep picking away at some of these youngsters, though we do need some experienced players soon.

What gets to me about him coming back though is that it was in the newspapers (I know they aren't a source of truth, but not the point) that Roosters were talking to SBW and in those talks were talking with him about what he would do after football. The paper seemed to be fine in printing this, although it directly puts up a flag in my eyes as we were fined considerably and had $670k come off our cap because we allegedly agreed to do this Robbie when negotiating a contract release. But Roosters can reportedly do it, openly, in making a contract, and no eyebrows raised?

The issue with us is that we didn’t tell the NRL we offered Farah an ambassador deal

Kid looks solid. Covers the back five as well which is handy.

Looks as though SBW was always going back to Easts, so we may as well benefit from it.

Would like another second rower at a minimum, would be handy to have another young up and comer as well.

I'm satisfied with the job that Garner and Lucy are doing at the moment, I would certainly like at least another good one on the books and then one with promise coming through as well though.

No, we just told the whole world instead and the NRL got their panties in a knot. There were lots of ways the NRL could have handled that but the NRL took the punishment route.

sorry Russell no further comment from me mate apologies.
He does look like a good signing though shame we had to help out roosters sign SBW to get him early

The punishment was ridiculously over the top for sure.

Nice signing. He looks like a strong player and centre with speed. Does anyone have background info? Is he a former rugby player and if so NZer?

Came from Sacred Heart College in Auckland before joining Roosters SG Ball. Played Junior Kiwis in 2019.

Edit - mentioned on Samoa RL Facebook page.

Thank you. He looks like a great signing for us.

Does look like a good signing - hopefully instead of Saab.

Looks the right height, seems to have a bit of speed and doesn't want to just fall over the line, but has a bit of an urge to get as close to the posts as he can.

Well one down, two to go.

About half a dozen clubs were chasing him when he was 16. Can play centre or second row, NZ U16’s player of the year

Highly unlikely if he’s that highly rated Roosters lose players. They are the best run club in the NRL.

Only chance is that we could give him some first grade time, he’s stuck behind a lot of quality at roosters. They may convince him to wait it out though

Looks like I got the wrong Roosters back.
