Blore Garner

Different players tbh, room for both.

Sorry, it was in response to the team line up. I'd prefer starting with Blore than Garner. Definitely room for both, but Garner would be coming off the bench in my opinion.

If garner fixes up his front on defence he’ll be value.
As like all of us, we prefer Garner on the left anyway.
Could Lucy be our long term 13?
His currently punching out 80 mins in the back row and decent numbers but his being used a lot more as a battering ram than as ball playing forward utilising his silky short passing game that he was known for.
Thoughts?

You take away lucianos best asset playing him at lock, running lines and scoring close to the line. Rather Twal or Eiso at lock and let Luciano use his X factor out wide

Yeah I know, but you can’t say we are playing him into holes at the moment. Locks find plenty of space in the line don’t worry about that as I said my main issue with him playing off the halves wide is he doesn’t get to play short balls into the forwards.

When brooks has been half he didn’t get many short balls. Walters, Benji and grant have all given him good ball and he always makes impact or scores. Hes our most dangerous second rower and we’ve got some good locks at the club, no reason to move him over

Well i can state that my rumor of Fifta going to the Titans was correct and called it 23 plus days ago, so to those members that gave me a hard time, proof is in the signing. i doubt i will give any more in future from my mate a players agent in the NRL mainly because it dud not like the feedback given.

Honestly I think Mbye is playing exactly how he always does. He has the odd good game in him, and for the most part he is fairly safe, but he has never really been much more than a slightly above average player, whether playing with the Dogs or with us. I think the hype around him when he first came onto the scene was very misguided. I reckon the Dogs realised that after their mistake of giving him a big contract and happily shifted him over to us when we came calling only for us to make that same mistake!

The guy’s had a dream run - lots of money from 2 clubs, made captain, given a Qld Origin berth because there wasn’t anyone better to fill the utility role at the time - all for doing bugger all most weeks really.

The Dogs thought that they had another Thurston, that's why they offer him huge dollars.

That is hardly a new rumour.I heard that a month ago and it didnt come from a player agent.Even if it is true it wont help us as MBye will be off contract before a new team in Brisbane happens

Let me spell it out for you.

Brooks is not going to get any better, he is what he is. As he is he isnt a player that will ever step up in a grand final and get us home.

Coach's job now is to go and find someone who can.

Im not talking about signing someone who can do it tomorrow. As he has with all his signing he will survey the field wand recruit a player who has these attributes.

I know Dean Pay would not agree with me but I would look at Lewis from the Dogs Great defence and good gold kicker. Learning his trade at the moment but great potential.

I'm warming to this idea. Dogs are cashed up and on the hunt for a halfback. Prepared to pay overs, so lets trade Brooks for Lewis and the dogs can pay the difference.

Lewis is defensively on par, superior kicking game & he looks to be calm out there with good communication skills.

Seriously, has anyone ever dropped a Brooks bomb? It's like his intention is to make it as easy as possible for the FB to catch. Not to mention his severe low energy personality, that if he walked into a doggy day care, all the pups would go straight to sleep.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

His own coach said Lewis needed more composure and game management on Ch9. Unconvincingly he said it will come with experience .

The cupboard is pretty bare as far as quality halves go (young or off-contract) that you can build a club around.
Our best bet would be to recruit a real solid experienced half that knows how to give our young pack a bit more of a chance, in game and can turn a game with his kicks even if the forward pack is being dominated. Marshall tries but really is not a kicking halfback and especially with having to play another young Hooker next year whilst also bloody Doueihi in the fullback role (for the time being) we are really crying out for a half with a strong kicking game.
A 2 year contract with the idea of blooding Madden or recruit a future star half that has a long career ahead of him. (Sam Walker or Flanagan)
I hear calls for Burton but despite his skill, he’ll suffer the same fate as Brooks without having that game experienced.
Green is the only one that stands out at this stage.
Townsend is another possibility but I don’t rate his long kicking game, Johnson’s is much stronger.
As mentioned the cupboard is pretty bare.
Despite trying to pry Michael Morgan from the cowboys I can’t think of too many other experienced halves that fit that bill.

Mate if you have a rumour than post it. Surely you have a thicker skin than that. Also you’re not the only person with contacts in the NRL and you won’t be the first to get a rumour right or wrong for that matter. It’s a dynamic workplace with shifting sands and most people understand what is correct today, may not be tomorrow. Just keep the goss coming, that’s the whole purpose of this thread.

Lewis for Brooks would only work if the other half was more electric.
