I suspect Kyle Flannigan will end up at the Dragons with his father as head coach in the next year or two.

I agree. Roosters using him to tie them over until Walker is ready?

Roosters used him to get Xerri, but that didn't quite work out

Widdop is good and all

But geez I would love it if we dug our fingers into the SL market a bit more

A lot of good talent there

Widdop has been a fine player but shouldn't we trust in our own young players? Madden, Camroux and Field all look good prospects.

Will Madden be ready for 2021 season? I haven’t seen enough of him to know.

He played well in the trial against the Panthers. You never know until you use him. We've purchased experienced halves in Mbye and Reynolds. Has it been a success? Time to trust in our scouting and development

Youth will only take you so far.You have to have that blend of experience and juniors,look at the roosters it hasn’t been successful for us because we keep recruiting the wrong experienced players

We've got a lot of talent, we need to use it and our young halves together with our other brightest talents should go through a Maguire off season.

This lack of lower grades is killing us.

Camroux resembles a young Moses without as much attitude. At present he'd only be eligible to play after July next year though. Madden should replace Benji once we can no longer make the finals. Absolutely no point playing Benji after that point.

Watched a few Sydney Shield & Presidents Cup games over the weekend. Decent standard without being spectacular but plenty of youngsters having a run. Even Gagai's younger bro was playing in the centres for Syd Uni and bagged a few meat pies.

Given the unusual nature of the season our club should be striking deals to loan our fringe/younger players to these clubs. I'm unsure as to our professional relationship with those teams but surely some arrangement could be made so that the players don't miss out on a whole year of development

Crazy idea and probably a bad one but hear me out. We have young halves coming through but probably not ready yet, we have many halves in the squad so it would be a waste to sign another one next year.

With Brooks at 6, I wonder if it’s worth giving Mbye a go at 7 next year. He’s our captain, a natural half and maybe putting him there might bring the best out of him by giving him that responsibility.

I know where you are coming from, for mine though he failed repeatedly at the dogs. What's worse is he wastes your time as the odd good game means he is persisted with for too long.

I just began to write up a new thread on Moses, got halfway through and canned it. What else is there to say. He’s failed to hold down any position he’s played, including at the Dogs. Doueihi will go into the halves before he does. The only spot his left is to go to hooker when Harry leaves. And even if he does, he’s only keeping the seat warm for Simpkin the same way he kept the centre spot warm for Tommy. He’s the worlds most expensive band aid.

Hopefully he’s used a bench utility going onwards. Depends on how tommy handles centre and how the new boy goes.

From last year's Jersey Flegg:

* Burey to union.

* What's happened to Mavoni?

* Where has Dillon gone?

* What about Kei? Should be in our top 30 next year.

* Stefanovic - half?

Yeah true, and my suggestion is for him to keep the spot warm until one of our young halves are ready to step up. I think Doueihi is too important at fullback to be moved unless we suddenly get a Tedesco/Papenhauzen from somewhere.

Roosters haven’t settled on a halfback yet, maybe just crazy talk but if Lam and Flanagan don’t work out I can see them having a stab at Brooks when he’s back on the market. (Can negotiate after this year I think?)

Brooks/Teddy combo at tigers was pretty good and Robinson might recognise that to get them back together again

Would obviously have big money to spend on a half then, preferably a goal kicking one

The number on his back fixes everything.

Exactly! It's funny to read that Brooks can focus on running now that he has no 6 on his back.?

Wearing the number 7 can weigh heavily on a player's shoulders. Just like being the capt can effect your personal performance.

It is a bit of a laugh. It will appease those who believe wearing a specific number matters.

I'm just wondering why Madge had moved him? No way its just to appease the fans

He wouldn’t do it for no reasons. Think Benji will be doing majority of the kicking and organising. Hopefully brooks sees more of the ball close to the Line

Kei would be a development player if anything. Kids not even played reserve grade.

use Brooks close to the line running and stepping hopefully and not have to worry about kicks and organising. Let Marshall ditect the traffic let brooks play what he sees.
worked in 2005 with Prince and Marshall

Yep absolutely crazy idea, you got that right. Mybe is a natural nothing. I would say being at 9 this week is probably Mbye’s last chance. The next step is out of here. Mybe is a sympathy Captain, that’s all. Should never have been appointed captain and inspires absolutely no one.

2018 was his form year

Down hill since then with glimpses in 1 or 2 games this year of that

When benji played in 2018 and last year he was on the end of brooks passes.
Benji is noticeably slower this year and doesn’t have the overall fitness to be the player that swings to the outside of either side.
This year, Brooks is a better asset to be the link man, being that he is probably in his prime fitness wise and has that extra yard of pace.
We are all being critical of Brooks playing tight on the left side only but only because there isn’t anyone other than Marshall to play the right.
I could be wrong but this may be the start of Brooks being used all over the field. His speed is his best asset here and he still throws a really good ball either direction.
Hopefully it helps him play eyes up footy like Keary does at the Roosters.
My criticism of Marshall is his general play kicking is terrible but at this stage so is Brooks.
This is where some fans are begging for Madden to be debuted as he has a really good kicking game and screams and shouts on the field.

Yeah Madge definitely seems the kind of coach to give the captaincy out of sympathy and not hard work

Nope. Under contract for another 3 years.
