REYNOLDS SUPER LEAGUE BOUND?

Wests Tigers utility Josh Reynolds could end up in the English Super League if that was an avenue he’d like to go down.

Brent Read told Triple M there could be a spot for Reynolds at Wigan, but a couple of dominoes would need to fall first.

“There’s a bit of movement in England at the moment and Josh Reynolds’ name is on the radar,” he said.

“There’s some interest from Leeds but Wigan is the interesting one. As I understand they’ve agreed to a deal with (Eels half) Jai Field, but he needs to play another game to take up that deal.

“The other moving piece there is Bevan French. There's some speculation he wants to come back to Australia, return to the NRL.

“If Jai Field doesn’t come to fruition or Bevan French comes home then that may open up a spot for Josh Reynolds.”

31-year-old Reynolds is contracted to the Tigers until the end of next year and is unlikely to be re-signed by the club given Billy Walters is coming through. A move to the UK could be a good move for the longevity of his career, given he’s more likely to get a longer deal there than in the NRL.

We could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Lose Reynolds & sign Bevan French as our fullback. Win/Win scenario

French is a Nuffie.

This is why we are ninth. Potential rated more highly than an actual marquee player. It beggars belief.

You are misrepresenting the position of supporters who oppose the suggestion that we should give up Talau to get JAC.

You are suggesting that we believe that Talau is a better footballer than JAC, or that he will certainly become a better footballer. I haven't seen anybody suggest that.

The issue is how much should we as a club be expected to give up to get the deal over the line.

I'm happy to pay marquee money to get JAC, but that's it. We shouldn't have to give up a promising junior as well.

We've made enough mistakes with our signings in the past I think we should forget this bloke...all his good years are behind him, and we certainly don't want to give up any of our promising youngsters...stop the rot now😕

You don’t start declining as an athlete until you’re at least 30. To be honest NRL for some reason thinks 30 is older for a player when it’s actually your physical prime really, you see UFC and boxing champs are normally around that age or even older.

What do you mean some are saying "Talau over JAC" ?

time for a change

Don’t worry, neither of those guys are on the chopping block. Madge wants them both long term.

Sounds like there are a few others looking over their shoulder though.

Kotoni Staggs has expressed an interest in leaving Brisbane.
Surely we approach him. I think he would be a better signing than JAC and for less money.

That’s not quite correct... There is an opinion that the salary difference between JAC and Talau doesn’t represent value.

Some say youth over experience (winger vs winger) and some don’t agree
Some say speed over potential and some dont agree
Sow me say JAC is not a #1 and some don’t agree

Some just don’t agreee..... but that’s oar

Because they aren’t made available.
100% if Nofo was free for trade the deal would of already been done..

Have not posted in a while so thought i would give an update - although i see POM has provided most the goods.

Past few days JAC pursuit has really stepped up. JAC has all but agreed to sign with the Tigers but there are still a few obstacles. Mainly to do with the Melbourne side of the deal. Melbourne will release him at the end of the year but are in rush to release without a replacement and due to the uncertainty around their cap in the C.Smith/B.Smith/Grant situation as that will dictate how much cap they will have. They asked for Talau amongst other things but that was shut down quickly. A swap isn't necessarily a requirement from Melbourne, but they do want a replacement in some form (free agent or player released from another club) before they formally release JAC. Although if JAC was a free agent, it would essentially be done. Dogs interest is over exaggerated - they're focused on the halves and 9.
Reynolds warming up to the idea of going over to England to pro-long his career. Leeds and Wigan mentioned but St Helens also interested. Unfortunately, player movement is slow over there due to Covid.

Other clubs news -

Drinkwater has told the Cowboys that he wants to play in the halves. He is likely to be the one on the move this season with the Cowboys preferring a Morgan-Clifford halves pairing with Val at fullback. Cowboys want to keep him but will be difficult fitting 3 players into 2 positions

Saab has been granted a release in principle (Dragons looking for a young forward in return) - Discussions are ongoing with the Tigers, and it is NOT dependent on the Addo-Carr deal. Tigers are after both, however a couple of players need to be moved on for this to happen.

Broncos told Staggs they will not release him, he's accepted that. Broncos still shopping Milford. Seibold will be gone at the end of the season, decision was made a couple weeks ago but will hold off until the end of the season at this stage.

Sharks shopping Moylan and willing to pay 200k - Dragons potential suitors if they can offload Norman and sort out their coach.

Takarangi in talks with Manly.
