Moley has posted to 4 Wests Tigers groups on facebook sitting back with his box of popcorn

what to do with veteran favourite son Benj Marshall, who is off contract but has a deal on the table.

lol

If this is true Madge is definitely not the coach to get us out of this hole.
Benji has absolutely nothing to gain from not announcing his retirement, he could get a proper send off, he wants to play again no risk.

I think he's trying to stroke his ego with 1 more season. Gunning for the most capped player no.1 spot.
1 more season would do it :joy: :joy: :grimacing: :grimacing:

**Most first grade matches for Wests Tigers**:

Robbie Farah - 277
Benji Marshall - 252
Chris Lawrence - 250
Chris Heighington - 201
John Skandalis - 185
Dene Halatau - 180
Keith Galloway - 173
Liam Fulton - 162
Bryce Gibbs - 155
Todd Payten - 151
Ben Galea - 150

That list is pretty impressive with players and most won the 2005 premiership, long term stable team does wonders with playing finals.
Hopefully Benji realizes that his best playing days are over but i can understand this fact he is on much less $ than most to help our cap and might think the Tigers are obligated to give hom another year.

***Rowdy was also on peanuts, he left with dignity***, and he is a one club legend, we owe Benji nothing

After he ran to the media to get another contract. Something Benji hasn’t done.

Went to Weidler a week before that big sharks game complaining about pay and not getting a contract. I love Rowdy but that made me lose some respect for him.

that would have been his manager - he probably didn't know about it. managers are the biggest grubs around

He was actually interviewed on tv.

I don’t watch any significant tv so that may be right and if so ?

^^ I’m not sold on Ado Carr coming to us.
I’ve had a think about it and I think us attempting to sign Johnson instead would be better off in the long term.

Ado Carr is the kinda of player that will enhance a top performing team.

He doesn’t have the core abilities that suit an underperforming team.

Even DWZ would be better for us at this stage.

Be interesting to see which way we go here.

next i expect wayne to deny it, then hes signed to souths

You have to feel for Johnston, a legend of that club, who is being pushed out for “salary cap” reasons, yet his teammate is calling for the club to sign his replacement who would probably get paid nearly double what Johnston is on. I’d happily settle for him instead of JAC.

We 100% need JAC, did you see Kieran Foran streaking away against us?? We’re slower than a dinner with the mother in law

Hilarious to see JAC & Latrell figting over who should be fullback.

Two Australian reps at a club, wouldn’t that be nice 🤩

Well the new law that’s just about to be brought in might suit Souths as they will be forced to ‘honour’ the $480k salary. On the salary cap that is.
Think JAC would be closer to the ‘newer’ Souths boys.
Johnson is probably more part of the old guard...

I didn’t say don’t sign someone without speed.

I’m just saying as a value for output purchase.

We at west’s tigers need our outside backs not only to be quick and good finishers but we also need them to be able to handle the dirty tough yards as well.

Johnson suits that requirement more effectively in my opinion. Once we improve to a class team or consistent top 4/8 side a player like JAC with that X factor would be unreal.

Be careful what you wish for. R Jennings scored 20 odd tries on the end of Souths backline. We need genuine class not more average Joe’s

Throw in Murray, Walker, Gagai, Roberts, Arrow, Reynolds, Cook and a $600k a year teenager as well

JAC wouldn't officially be paid a lot at Souths. They've taken a page or two out of their neighbours the Roosters' book, like with Dogshot Mitchell, Souths would pay JAC low and reward his dedication to the club in other ways.

Maby Reynolds isn’t playing because Madge doesn’t want him to get injured before his big move over seas 👍🏽

The Club has advised it is in talks with JAC, not Johnson. I cannot understand how he is mentioned as a possible signing?

I'd say JAC running the ball out during a SOO exceeds anything Johnson has done.

This plus Grant and Liddle are better hooker forwards.

He/she is talking about value for money. JAC wants 800k and wants to pick his position, Johnston happy to play anywhere (and proven he can play fullback) for probably 500-550k. The best teams make smart signings and extract value without focusing on a highlight reel.

I'd love to see JAC here, but I can see the logic in Johnston as an alternative especially if it gives 300k extra on our salary cap.

Hasn't the Club made a decision about the player it wants ie JAC?

Isn't the Club best placed to make the call on the relative merits of particular players?

And you are comparing very different players. Johnson has never played SOO. The only similarity is speed otherwise Johnson is an average and inconsistent player. We have enough of these types.

Johnson also lacks the marketing appeal and also has not been part of a benchmark setting club both in performance and development. These are non monetary benefits which cannot be measured.
