Imagine another off season like the LM will he / wont he come. Awesome.

I think the club needs to assess if they want JAC and if we can afford him first.

Then Give him a deadline as the club does not need to go through the LM saga again as its a terrible look for the club and any future recruitment. If it ended like the LM one did we would be the joke of the NRL and the fans. He either wants to come or he doesn't

A deadline mightn't work in this situation as their is another club involved.

What a shame.... This is going to be the LM case again and its not going to end well for our club.. I am sooo over bigger clubs sitting back and getting players to hold out until they are ready to scam the system. This will be a PR nightmare

Don't blame the clubs or the players. They don't want to come here because they know they won't be playing finals football if they do. If I was a great player I wouldn't sign with us, would you?

100% agree I would not sign here as well at the moment. But as a club we need to put the right PR stunt up and put a deadline on it and than its the risk the player takes to hold off.
It's not a great look in the media if we sit back and wait and wait for him to commit an then doesn't sign with us. Looks desperate (I know we are)

We're going to look silly either way. We've already been heavily linked to him and if he goes to Souths now everyone will have a good laugh (and deservedly so).

^^ I’m not sold on Ado Carr coming to us.
I’ve had a think about it and I think us attempting to sign Johnson instead would be better off in the long term.

Ado Carr is the kinda of player that will enhance a top performing team.

He doesn’t have the core abilities that suit an underperforming team.

Even DWZ would be better for us at this stage.

Be interesting to see which way we go here.

We 100% need JAC, did you see Kieran Foran streaking away against us?? We’re slower than a dinner with the mother in law

I didn’t say don’t sign someone without speed.

I’m just saying as a value for output purchase.

We at west’s tigers need our outside backs not only to be quick and good finishers but we also need them to be able to handle the dirty tough yards as well.

Johnson suits that requirement more effectively in my opinion. Once we improve to a class team or consistent top 4/8 side a player like JAC with that X factor would be unreal.

The Club has advised it is in talks with JAC, not Johnson. I cannot understand how he is mentioned as a possible signing?

I'd say JAC running the ball out during a SOO exceeds anything Johnson has done.

He/she is talking about value for money. JAC wants 800k and wants to pick his position, Johnston happy to play anywhere (and proven he can play fullback) for probably 500-550k. The best teams make smart signings and extract value without focusing on a highlight reel.

I'd love to see JAC here, but I can see the logic in Johnston as an alternative especially if it gives 300k extra on our salary cap.

Rather AJ than JAC less $ and less controversy.
He also understand salary cap constraints been a loyal club man and only being squeezed out because of cap conditions.
Proven football as well and versatile.

Hasn't the Club made a decision about the player it wants ie JAC?

Isn't the Club best placed to make the call on the relative merits of particular players?

And you are comparing very different players. Johnson has never played SOO. The only similarity is speed otherwise Johnson is an average and inconsistent player. We have enough of these types.

Johnson also lacks the marketing appeal and also has not been part of a benchmark setting club both in performance and development. These are non monetary benefits which cannot be measured.

No they haven't. We haven't signed either of them and there are conflicting reports that we have limited salary cap movement and need to move a player on before we can even afford JAC. We have no idea what is actually going on behind the scenes, don't believe everything you hear on here.

Yes they are very different players, hence the cost difference.

Are you answering on behalf of the Club with the first 'we'?

Is there a link I've missed where we announced we signed JAC?

You are the poster who confirmed the Club had not signed either of them.

Hence my question as to whether your first 'we' was an answer on behalf of the Club.

So Johnson's name was pulled for fantasy team?

Are you talking about Johnston or Johnson? Two very different players.

All of these names are fantasy at this stage. JAC is at a similar stage as Latrell last year in terms of rumours with links to sign with the Tigers, and Doueihi wasn't even mentioned. The same could happen here with Johnston.

But how do you know that?

How do I know that we don’t know? Is that the question?

CCTW provided advice to the forum. Your man Johnston wasn't included. Afoa, JAC, Saab were.

Does this person work at the club? What’s their role?

Use the search function. Look at the information he provides. That may assist.

No thanks, I think I'll wait for the club to announce signings.

Melbourne have done the right thing by us in regards to Harry Grant. I wonder if they could do the right thing again by allowing JAC a release out of his contract providing that release is to Wests Tigers and not Souths? Look at the competition Table. The top 8 was known at least two months ago, Struggling clubs need help to balance the competition and the best way is to encourage these clubs.

Does this help those clubs though, stronger competition means less assurance of making the 8.

Why? IMHO, the only laughing stock is the NRL with their 'rules'!
When any player can walk out on his contract at any time, what could any negotiation or verbal agreement mean?

That doesn’t change the fact we are just about the least desirable club in the NRL.

I prefer the title ‘Boutique Club’...

We attract a certain type. Mainly the ones looking to secure their retirement

So just to clear the JAC situation up a little.

I got an email from the club to confirm Tigers are interested in JAC but not as a Fullback and only a winger and wingers price not FB price. They are not prepared to over pay and won't get involved in a circus with other clubs and media.

Just thought I would pass on as its good to hear and we don't want anther LM situation.

Sounds good. Anything more than $600k at the max would be overs.

Wonder if that means they’re after Staines as well, media seems to think so. Add in JAC, Staines and a decent forward and it’s an improved team, still needs a lot of work and guys to be moved on but it’s a step in the right direction for sure

Considering we don't have a lot of money Staines would be the best fit for our team. Fingers crossed but I was glad to hear the update.

Pascoe refers to us as a ‘destination club’ whilst Chairman Lee likes the term ‘glamour club’.

Next year our slogan will be ‘the NRL’s most glamorous destination’

Staines and Burton would be good, they might like to stay together

Burton might not get a run with Benji playing on.

For the love of god no, Benji cranks on about being the backup, but he never is

I have been emailing Justin for a few years now about things and he always replies back to me and all the info he has given me over the time has ended correctly. So for me I will trust him until proven differently.
I just thought I would share as the forum is going nuts over JAC and about paying overs etc..
