^^ I’m not sold on Ado Carr coming to us.
I’ve had a think about it and I think us attempting to sign Johnson instead would be better off in the long term.
Ado Carr is the kinda of player that will enhance a top performing team.
He doesn’t have the core abilities that suit an underperforming team.
Even DWZ would be better for us at this stage.
Be interesting to see which way we go here.
We 100% need JAC, did you see Kieran Foran streaking away against us?? We’re slower than a dinner with the mother in law
I didn’t say don’t sign someone without speed.
I’m just saying as a value for output purchase.
We at west’s tigers need our outside backs not only to be quick and good finishers but we also need them to be able to handle the dirty tough yards as well.
Johnson suits that requirement more effectively in my opinion. Once we improve to a class team or consistent top 4/8 side a player like JAC with that X factor would be unreal.
The Club has advised it is in talks with JAC, not Johnson. I cannot understand how he is mentioned as a possible signing?
I'd say JAC running the ball out during a SOO exceeds anything Johnson has done.
He/she is talking about value for money. JAC wants 800k and wants to pick his position, Johnston happy to play anywhere (and proven he can play fullback) for probably 500-550k. The best teams make smart signings and extract value without focusing on a highlight reel.
I'd love to see JAC here, but I can see the logic in Johnston as an alternative especially if it gives 300k extra on our salary cap.
Hasn't the Club made a decision about the player it wants ie JAC?
Isn't the Club best placed to make the call on the relative merits of particular players?
And you are comparing very different players. Johnson has never played SOO. The only similarity is speed otherwise Johnson is an average and inconsistent player. We have enough of these types.
Johnson also lacks the marketing appeal and also has not been part of a benchmark setting club both in performance and development. These are non monetary benefits which cannot be measured.
No they haven't. We haven't signed either of them and there are conflicting reports that we have limited salary cap movement and need to move a player on before we can even afford JAC. We have no idea what is actually going on behind the scenes, don't believe everything you hear on here.
Yes they are very different players, hence the cost difference.
