^^ I’m not sold on Ado Carr coming to us.
I’ve had a think about it and I think us attempting to sign Johnson instead would be better off in the long term.

Ado Carr is the kinda of player that will enhance a top performing team.

He doesn’t have the core abilities that suit an underperforming team.

Even DWZ would be better for us at this stage.

Be interesting to see which way we go here.

We 100% need JAC, did you see Kieran Foran streaking away against us?? We’re slower than a dinner with the mother in law

I didn’t say don’t sign someone without speed.

I’m just saying as a value for output purchase.

We at west’s tigers need our outside backs not only to be quick and good finishers but we also need them to be able to handle the dirty tough yards as well.

Johnson suits that requirement more effectively in my opinion. Once we improve to a class team or consistent top 4/8 side a player like JAC with that X factor would be unreal.

The Club has advised it is in talks with JAC, not Johnson. I cannot understand how he is mentioned as a possible signing?

I'd say JAC running the ball out during a SOO exceeds anything Johnson has done.

He/she is talking about value for money. JAC wants 800k and wants to pick his position, Johnston happy to play anywhere (and proven he can play fullback) for probably 500-550k. The best teams make smart signings and extract value without focusing on a highlight reel.

I'd love to see JAC here, but I can see the logic in Johnston as an alternative especially if it gives 300k extra on our salary cap.

Hasn't the Club made a decision about the player it wants ie JAC?

Isn't the Club best placed to make the call on the relative merits of particular players?

And you are comparing very different players. Johnson has never played SOO. The only similarity is speed otherwise Johnson is an average and inconsistent player. We have enough of these types.

Johnson also lacks the marketing appeal and also has not been part of a benchmark setting club both in performance and development. These are non monetary benefits which cannot be measured.

No they haven't. We haven't signed either of them and there are conflicting reports that we have limited salary cap movement and need to move a player on before we can even afford JAC. We have no idea what is actually going on behind the scenes, don't believe everything you hear on here.

Yes they are very different players, hence the cost difference.

Is there a link I've missed where we announced we signed JAC?

Interesting reading that Latrine is trying to get JAC to Souffs isn't LM the current fullback and how would Alex Johnston be feeling and one other question where would the cap space come from for that to happen.

Anybody notice the Foxsports items where Latrell Mitchell does his wish for JAC to Souths. The only way that can happen is if Johnston gets moved on. So much for the aboriginal background brotherhood building there at Redfern- kick out one to get another.

If I were WT recruiters, I'd also be talking with Souths over Johnston just in case he would not be happy with being traded / swapped, however you call it to Storm, if that is Souths thinking.

I'd like to say I have the willpower to log off over the offseason and not concern myself with it. But that would be a lie.

I think the club needs to assess if they want JAC and if we can afford him first.

Then Give him a deadline as the club does not need to go through the LM saga again as its a terrible look for the club and any future recruitment. If it ended like the LM one did we would be the joke of the NRL and the fans. He either wants to come or he doesn't

All of these names are fantasy at this stage. JAC is at a similar stage as Latrell last year in terms of rumours with links to sign with the Tigers, and Doueihi wasn't even mentioned. The same could happen here with Johnston.

But how do you know that?

How do I know that we don’t know? Is that the question?

Imagine another off season like the LM will he / wont he come. Awesome.

A deadline mightn't work in this situation as their is another club involved.

What a shame.... This is going to be the LM case again and its not going to end well for our club.. I am sooo over bigger clubs sitting back and getting players to hold out until they are ready to scam the system. This will be a PR nightmare

Are you answering on behalf of the Club with the first 'we'?

Is there a link I've missed where we announced we signed JAC?

You are the poster who confirmed the Club had not signed either of them.

Hence my question as to whether your first 'we' was an answer on behalf of the Club.

So Johnson's name was pulled for fantasy team?

Are you talking about Johnston or Johnson? Two very different players.

All of these names are fantasy at this stage. JAC is at a similar stage as Latrell last year in terms of rumours with links to sign with the Tigers, and Doueihi wasn't even mentioned. The same could happen here with Johnston.

Don't blame the clubs or the players. They don't want to come here because they know they won't be playing finals football if they do. If I was a great player I wouldn't sign with us, would you?

Good stuff from Mbye. Happy to see him call out the higher earners (himself included) and not refuse to comment like Darius Boyd. If he had gone into hiding we would have known he wasn't prepared to fight it out here.

Well an interesting post from Mybe our most expensive player and captain.
Truth be known he was already looking at a new deal with the new Brisbane team and hoping to be in too $ again to finish his career.
This has fallen through because of COVID and the nrl decision now to delay any new teams fir the next at least 3 seasons.
Surprised only a few weeks ago we were told that he was allowed to negotiate with other clubs and we would subsidise his salary?
States nil discussions with Madge however think this is a smoke screen, if there is a clean out on the cards he should be one of these players.
As one prior earlier post states was at the game on Saturday and did not put his body on the line.
I cannot understand why he is captain does not inspire the team with his play.
The sooner he is moved on the better.
If Madge is serious about a clean out it starts with him.
