I'm over there as well, but this site is much better. Especially for Wests Tigers content.

Depends on the price of the contract... Staines on 4 years at $300-$350 is not bad... at worst you have a fast winger... at best you have a fullback locked up for 4 years

Doueihi needs to become a much better ballplayer if we're going to run him at 6. I like the idea of grabbing Staines and Burton, but we need to be careful with how green our spine would be. The Tigers had a relatively young spine when we won the comp in 05, but Hodgson and Prince had both played state of origin and Marshall and Farah have gone on to become 2 legends of the game. Obviously we didn't know they'd be that good then, but with the benefit of hindsight it's pretty clear that a young spine having success like that is more the exception than it is the rule and they were all great players.

If we're planning to write-off next year and probably not really be a contender until 2023, then I can see the logic. But what's the point of creating a young team and then by the time they're ready to compete, they're all gonna come off contract. We need a mix of young, improving players who exceed their cap number and veterans who are win now players to continually compete. Otherwise you just end up at square 1 again (see what happened to us after 2013/14 when we ushered in the Big 4).

If Doueihi was moved to 5/8 we would need to look at new outside backs. He is to tall.

It has already been established on the forum that passing between players of different heights creates an issue.

The reality is you should avoid older players because you are paying for what they have done not what they are going to do. Coubs always get better value out of the players like Kepoae who are young and sign longer deals because u buy them at the bottom of their price

Yeah, as opposed to all those crap players he signed or re-signed at Souths. I guess Kalyn Ponga went to the Knights because of Nathan Brown and Taumololo stayed at the Cowboys because of Paul Green. I guess we've never had coaches anyone wanted to play for besides Ivan, because we've never signed anyone. Rothfield just pulls ideas out of his backside.

Back to recruitment - that Staines guy huh? Would love to nab a few gun panthers just so we can return clearys kiss.

Don't for a minute think we are stealing any panthers from under Ivans nose, we will only recruit from Penrith if Ivan allows it or it is a fringe player that we have thrown too much money at.

I'm kind of stunned that people on here still give the cretins at the DT any air at all. The club has had issues over the DT producing garbage after garbage in the past. The WT don't give them exclusives and they're left to dig for crumbs and make up their own agenda. SMH get factual information from the club...
