Completely rubbish in my opinion. Aloiai seems one of the few players Madge actually likes and he’s been playing well. Eiso is off contract so he’s not even ours to ‘offload’

He's our best middle forward. There's no way they'd move him on.

Probably just player manager trying to bump up his price ala Matterson imo (Aloiai)

I know personally Josh bleeds the club, but who knows eventually it wears thin. Could just be your typical oh no tigers are doing bad, let’s bash them while they’re down article aswell

Having a look at the full list of off contract players, we need WINNERS at this club, players who LIVE TO WIN and LEAD from the front - with no fear or hesitation. These guys would be my top priority signatures to get:

#1 Brandon Smith: Hands down the most important signing imo. Epitomises everything it means to be a great footballer. Ridiculously tough, great leg speed and fearless - will take on anyone with no self preservation for his body. Would be an amazing lock forward. Broke his jaw against Parra and was still carrying defenders on him. If that’s not inspirational and a leader we need I don’t know what is. Captain material everyday of the week

#2 Christian Welch: same as Brandon Smith, will take on anyone, fearless and got a great offload. Aside from Papalii, he’s the best fwd from QLD imo

#3 HALVES: The top signings would be a combination of Nicho Hynes, Connor Watson, Matt Burton and Jackson Hastings. All are great goal kickers and provide that unpredictability you need for a half similar to someone like Munster. Also a terrific short kicking game to FORCE DROPOUTS, something our current players couldn’t do if their life depended on it!

#4 Charlie Staines: Seen this kid play throughout his juniors! Extremely fast and powerful, great goal kicker and a tremendously skilful FLB. Just an allround class act! Would be an amazing pickup.

#5 CENTRES/WINGERS: We shouldn’t need to spend big money on these players when other players would do a relatively similar if not better job if given the chance! I’m talking about Matt Ikavalu, Greg Leleisiaou, Alex Johnston, Young Tonumapoeia and Tom Opacic! All are stocky outside backs over 100 kgs and are very powerful! The first three are class finishers! Still can’t believe Greg Leleisiaou hasn’t made his debut, when he was arguably the best player in Canterbury Cup leading the run metres and tackle breaks in the whole comp as a winger!

Other middle fwds I would target would be Max King, Tom Amone and Kaide Ellis! We need DIFFERENT BODY SHAPES and weights in our FORWARD PACK making it hard to tackle for defensive lines! These guys provide great value for money, can play big mins, and make significant post contact metres thru their leg drive!

Other edge fwds I would target would be Andrew Davey, Jack Johns and Scott Sorenson. All very skilful and are workhorses that can play in the middle of the park if required. Once again, great post contact and offloading ability as well.

Does sound like the sort of thing Josh would speak out about. Shows real humility in his character. Hope he does stay on, he would make an excellent club captain and one day on field captain.

As Gus says, speed is power. Paps ain’t a strong guy but being so fast makes you hard to handle.

Absolutely. Clever player. Needs a little work on his short kicking game. He's a big body with good defence. Like Brooks probably hits harder than all our backs and some fotward.
