Interested to know who the centres will be for next year,BJ was poor in his first year,Mbye not much better,Talau was in and out of the team,Aj has been used on the wing,Hoffman played 1 game and was highly rated by Madge,Momirovski possibly cOming back,William Kei getting a top 30 or development spot, who does Madge run with?

I think it will be BJ and Doueihi

Leilua is lazy and will not tackle. An ISP cup position but even then he is blocking the pathway of a younger player. Doueihi at 5/8

BJ is going to want to be on fire from the outset of 2021 or Madge will have him in ISP bloody quick.

His signing is strange. We know Maguire is about work ethic, commitment, fitness and dedication. Leilua is not the first name which comes to mind when thinking of players with these qualities. I expect the names Kei, Talau, Rizk and Kepaoa to feature early next year. For the sake of improvement, we need those names in the side. I've read the comments about Marshall stifling Leilua's attacking prowess but NRL is primarily about defence. Build your game on a strong defence. The best I can write is he is not a committed defender. Centre is such an important position defensively I really cannot find a centre position for him. Talau at right centre, Kei at left should be the combination going forward. If we don't use them, other clubs will come calling.

Think you are wrong Paws - Benji also caused big gaps in defence, even BJ and Nofo couldn't cover that up. Benji caused havoc out wide in attack and defence. At least that problem is gone and BJ maybe able to start the season not being behind the eight ball.

It is far too early for Rizk and Kei to be playing NRL so early in the season. Think your push for young blokes to be included is blinding you to the fact that it will crucify their careers to play them too early. They will then be lost for good.

I know you are not a fan of BJ but he is the best centre we have and he will prove it again in 2021.

We're all a fan of a good BJ, it's the bad BJ that ruins the game

We signed BJ because we needed strike power out wide. Nofa was not scoring tries like he was this year and we desperately needed some spark and X factor on our edges. We also lacked a true centre out on that edge as well.

Hopefully his defence does improve next season, if not then he’ll be gone. I honestly don’t think it’s his fitness more his decision making he is not a smart footy player but next year we need to give him more footy in attacking scenarios

Noted. Well the BJ we see next year would have to be 100kgs, fit, faster, defence like ET and motivated to play for the team.

James Roberts searching for new home after reportedly being shown the door by Souths
By WWOS staff

Former Origin star James Roberts is reportedly on the search for a new home after being shown the door by the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Roberts has been told that his time at Redfern will come to an end this year, despite having another year left to run on his contract.

The Newcastle Knights are understood to be a suitor for the talented 27-year-old who has failed to capture his best form in recent seasons.

After playing in all three games for Brad Fittler's NSW side in the 2018 State of Origin series, Roberts has struggled to capture the form that saw his rise to prominence.

Roberts played in 79 games for the Broncos between 2016 and 2019, and a move to Redfern reuniting him with old coach Wayne Bennett was expected to help him rediscover his best form.

However, since moving to South Sydney during the 2019 season, Roberts has appeared in just 18 games for the Bunnies, scoring two tries.

Roberts endured off-field struggles this season, checking himself into a rehabilitation facility for anxiety and depression after struggling during the NRL's COVID-19 hiatus.

Along with the Knights, the Parramatta Eels and Canterbury Bulldogs have been named as potential destinations for Roberts, with the Eels expecting to be without Michael Jennings after he provided a positive A sample to performance-enhancing substances.

I think one thing alot of people fail to notice in regards to bj is the amount of attention he requires from opps in defence. One of the factors in nofo scoring as many as he did was that the opposing centres and some times even the wingers have to focus on joey. I know ill cop it for this but he is a decoy runner you have to respond to which in turn creates space.
I do however agree his defensive reads were poor and him and nofo are always going to struggle as neither is a great defender

Totally agree with that .. however I do believe that we didnt use him enough last season. BJ is a line busting outside back that should be used as a strike weapon close to try line. It take 2 or 3 defenders to stop him and if the defence does put 2 or 3 defenders in on him, he will either break the line, .. or get held up by the 3 defenders, but then be able to give an off load to an unmarked winger .. !!

He may be a line buster but his defence in the most crucial position is woeful. He's 28 now so it is most unlikely he will improve. Our issue is defence. We cannot afford to carry him especially with Nofoaluma outside. It is our Achilles heel and our defence won't improve until we put a player in the position who can defend.

Funny thing is i don't think Madge would of hired him if it was a attitude thing.
Don't want to sound mean but think it might be an issue of footy smarts.

Hopefully without benji next to him will improve as well

Isn't BJs option for year 3 in the Clubs favour? Can someone confirm.

it's listed on the tigers website that Leilua's option for 2022 is in the club's favour.

Thx R_P and JRT (above)

This displays that the NEW WTs are learning from the Cleary era in terms of contacts and hard decisions..

Performance will greatly impact his Extension.

I really Hope BJ kills it in 2021 like he has destroyed the WTs when with Canberra.

Agree totally... Benji is / was unpredictable in attack as he was in defence. Douehi as 5/8 will straighten that right side attack and give early ball. BJ is dangerous with and without the ball, he creates space and doubt, for me another year under Madge he will kill it 2021.

PS I can live with an occasional brain snap!!

Isaiah Papali’i off to Paramatta good pickup for them would’ve liked him here

Strange one as 13/12/11 look covered at Parra. He has openly said he wants to play back row and we (seemingly) would have been a much better fit.

I was hoping we would get him as he is better than Garner and also a better 13 than we have.

Tons of these second tier guys gone or going...you would like to think we have something up our sleeve.

Maybe Matterson wants out ?

Funny how Matterson isn’t been trained as hard this year , yet looked half the player he did in a tigers jersey.

It’s not that he was half the player of last season it’s the fact he was an out and out stand out in our side .
Played in a much more even side this season

I think Mbye will be our fullback if no JAC as not much out there unless there is a young fullback with speed stuck behind a top line fullback elsewhere wants a chance. I think we give AD the 6 and see how he goes as that is his preferred position.
My gut feeling is we will get a player from left field and shock us all..

BUZZ ROTHFIELD

Dogs are in the hunt for every contracted and uncontracted player in the NRL and Super League. They plan to buy all the players so no one else can field a team. I don't understand how a salary cap works and if I make enough predictions am am sure to get one right eventually.

Foxsporrs reckons bulldogs have signed or about to

Sign Flanagan in 24hour

And burton and fox in the comming weeks

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Think dogs will get Burton and Flannagan maybe Roberts but they won't get JAC
Souths are our only danger for JAC always were with his mates Gagai Walker Latrell AJ
