He was under contract with Souths but couldn't get a start with their backline. Because there was no CC he requested a release to go back to PNG. Prior to Souths in 2019 he was playing for Wynnum Manly in the Intrust Super Cup.

Now that Reynolds has been confirmed by Hull, does anyone know how much cap space we have remaining to fill the final 3 spots?

It’s all educated guesswork and I’ve been keeping records for a while now but if we saved $500k on JRey I estimate it could be best case $1.4m

I think we need to go out and spend up on a real good 7.

Our pack is looking stronger this year, will be interesting to see Brooky with that and no Benj

I’m optimistic

Angus Crichton would round out that pack pretty nicely

MILF - OMG - another signing like Mbye and AD - who isn't great as a specialist in either position as a Fullback or 5/8.

Adam Doueihi is continually telling us that he played all his junior football as a 5/8 and that he regards himself as a specialist 5/8. Souths used him as a utility because they had Walker.

If his 60 minute audition against the Slime is anything to go by, he looks to be a genuine 5/8, just like he said.

I hope he gets first shot at 5/8 (apart from round 1 of course). I think he has all the attributes to succeed.

Communication in PNG is problematic so contacting Edene may have been challenging. It may be too hard for some clubs requiring the allocation of dedicated resources with no guarantee of success. Fortunately the Club has arranged for Tahu to mentor him.

There was a story getting around that we may have had an interest in him at the time that Souffs released him, but it happened fairly quickly and he headed home to Papua New Guinea.

As you have stated communication may have been a problem and it has taken a bit of time to get in touch with him and make necessary arrangements.

If you guys just followed the secret you'd realise how to fan. The trick is to attract good things by just perceiving them into existence. Like I did with the 2005 Grand Final run. I just dropped copious acid and went on a several month journey into psychosis and watched Tigers games like they were video games on easy mode. The Tigers only stopped doing well when I reclaimed my sanity. Who's up for another journey into the dark void with me for a 2021 premiership run?

It’s been a while but I’ll strap the boots back on if necessary

Given there is no one available on the market, our abundance of cap space and the fact we just lost a 5/8 we should sign widdop on a 1 year deal with a year in our favour...Get him to slot at fullback for the year until Laurie gets here

Egan Butcher seems a likely prospect. Does anyone have thoughts on him as a possible acquisition?

Who is he?

Rooster's. second row forward. Taller and more rangy than his brother. I thought he looked a good prospect.

Well, imo with the cash we have available, we should be looking for the best SR available, we have a few on the up already

Where did these Milford rumours come from I can’t find anything on it and I’m hoping that it’s not true. Would be a massive waste of money IMO!!

Heard from a Brisbane supporting mate that the Brisbane Facebook fan pages are linking us to him. And yes, agree.

Unless you have lived or spent some time in PNG, it is difficult to appreciate the challenges Edene faces in adapting to life in a developed society. Infrastructure in PNG is limited, many PNG nationals live in villages where electricity, running water, health care and education are luxuries. Malaria is endemic as is dengue and I recall 7 locals were dying a week from snake bite. They have the hooded Taipan in PNG. Try playing football bare foot with Malaria. Malaria is the worst feeling in the world.

I

All true, but pre-COVID he had been in Australia for at least 2 years.

I wonder if we are still looking at Scott drinkwater? They probably won’t realease him now that there other half has signed with Newcastle next year

Man this Widdop stuff is delusional ! The guy hasn’t played even average football for 3 years . He’s just keeping his head above water in SL, a league that has star players like Bevan French , and Jackson Hastings .
He was alright for 2 seasons 7 years ago. He’s not that player anymore .

Definitely need to boost the second row.

On the halves, if Brooks has another poor year, I reckon they will be pushing him out the door for 2022. I think (and hope) he will go up a level in '21 though now that Benji has moved on.
