McINNES is a good footballer and an asset to any club.Reading these posts,most fans think 2nd row and FB are our main concern followed by back up halves (many halves out for periods).I think we are well covered at hooker, so it may be that during training Liddles injury may be playing up,otherwise the money mentioned for McInnes seems crazy.

There is definitely no shortage of talent at the club,especially coming within the next few years.
Players like McInnes go a long way on and off the field.700 is too much but.i have a lot of faith in Liddle.Api ,cook, grant are all awesome ball runners with speed of the mark.liddle would be just as quick as them if not faster 2021 will be big one for him

McInnes will be 27 in Feb and if we sign him for 2022 then he will be 28 which is fine. We let Liddle go because he hasnt made it yet while Simpkin is only 19 so 8 years younger then McInnes. So a couple of years for McInnes even 3 if its 2021 then you bring Simpkin along slowly because even at the end of McInnes 3 years then Simpkin is only 22 (same age as Harry Grant was in 2020).

The only reason Harry was not in Storms side earlier was the 2 Smiths.He was pacified by the Tigers swap,and would have gone on the market the next year if not promised the hooking job.Simkin spent last year on sidelines owing to covid, and he is under contract in 2022.He is a queenslander and they tend to go home'.Contracts at the present time are not worth the paper their written on.

McInnes is a solid first grader. He is not in the class of Smith, Cook, Harry, Hodgson

Friend is a similar player. Korisau maybe on par. Paying him 700k is a sure way to blow the money freed up when some of our other overpaid stars leave.

Liddle could be his equal and based on noise Simpkin better.

We have more pressing needs.

Problem is, we don’t know how good our hookers will be. Simpkin hasn’t even played a full season of reserve grade and Liddle can’t string 10 games together.

No doubt either of them could come good, but if you get the opportunity to sign one of the better hookers in the league you’ve gotta take it I feel. It’s not like we have a shortage of money and we don’t get many opportunities to sign top players.

In 2022 we can’t afford to be sitting around and hoping players come good, especially in our spine. If Liddle and Simpkin aren’t showing enough midway through 2021, start talking to McInnes again and figuring out a deal.

I think the club has shown recently, that they don't pay overs anymore, so I have faith that there offer will be a reasonable one, if in fact they make a offer.

Simpkin is purely unknown. He could be the next Cameron smith or the next Pita Godinet we just don’t know, that’s why I don’t understand people having opinions of him either thinking he’s great or he’s average. We really have no clue

you would think he is the next Cameron Smith (won't say Grant, the verdict is still out on him).

Now Simpkin may well be the next Cameron Smith, he may not be. I at least have a fair idea of what
Liddle can do in the NRL. I just think we should give him a fair go i.e. He is over is injuries, he has
the job in 2021, he has a decent pack (not brilliant but decent), a full off season behind him, so it
would be good to see whether he can take it all the way. I think he can.

As for Simpkin as I said we'll see, it maybe a case of (Luke Brooks being the next Andrew Johns)
being a good player but not raising to the level that most people expect.

As for McInnes - He wants to play DH, just like B Smith, I'd be pretty sure that if we signed either, we
would lose Liddle at the end of 2021 to Dogs or Manly and Simpkin at the end of 2022 back to QLD.

That means for the 2023 season, we have McInnes aged 29 and looking for a replacement again.

My son in law is the head chef at Peppers at Kingscliff. He told me a week ago that WestsTigers were coming to the resort. It's the same place that the Warriors stayed at before they moved to Tamworth. I'll ask him how it went.

Absolutely, same can be said for Stefano and Laurie. But what we do know is that good judges rate them highly.

We’ll have to wait and see. Always takes time for guys to adjust, especially forwards that are still young and inexperienced.

I think Liddle is a good club player for sure, but I think there are concerns around his durability. I hope he kills it, but if we can sign someone better (like B Smith) or if Simpkin is a better option, I have no problem with that.

I think we’ve given Liddle a very fair go, we’ve stuck by him through multiple injuries.
