So do we want him for hooker or lock? If hooker predominantly, where does that leave Liddle and/or Simpkins?

Is the plan to start Liddle at hooker, McInnes at lock, and when Liddle needs a spell, move McInnes in to give him a break?

I am merely evening up the argument on here. Nobody has seen Simpkin play but reading on here,
you would think he is the next Cameron Smith (won't say Grant, the verdict is still out on him).

Now Simpkin may well be the next Cameron Smith, he may not be. I at least have a fair idea of what
Liddle can do in the NRL. I just think we should give him a fair go i.e. He is over is injuries, he has
the job in 2021, he has a decent pack (not brilliant but decent), a full off season behind him, so it
would be good to see whether he can take it all the way. I think he can.

As for Simpkin as I said we'll see, it maybe a case of (Luke Brooks being the next Andrew Johns)
being a good player but not raising to the level that most people expect.

would lose Liddle at the end of 2021 to Dogs or Manly and Simpkin at the end of 2022 back to QLD.

If neither Liddle or Simpkin work out we have a back up Hooker

Seems like he wants to see how he goes under Griffin first. Liddle will have plenty of opportunity to hold onto his 9 jersey I’m sure. Madge seems to like him as a player

I would imagine he would start the game at hooker then shift to lock then bring in liddle or Simpkin who ever deserves it
Madge is the coach he watches these players train every day he obviously knows if liddle or Simpkin can make it as starting hookers in the nrl

Liddell’s injury history will go against him, imo.

Maybe Simpkin never having played an NRL game might go against him.

Who knows what Madge is thinking?

Liddle is off contract, Simpkin has 2 years to run on his, in saying that we don't need McInness

Harry played for us this year and he was without a doubt exceptional, but ultimately he didn't turn up the dial.

Our pack was often trampled, our spine at times looked good but fell apart in crucial moments, and our defense was atrocious.

The only reason we should sign McInnes is to fill our hole at lock and as a backup 9. He's an excellent lock, defender and played some of his best footy at 13 in 2020.

I'd like to see Liddle play a full season at 9, with Simpkin blooded off the bench.

Until we see what we've got there's no reason to pull it down and start again.

I think we need to spend the money elsewhere, which would give the team an overall better balance.
McInnes would want to play hooker, and rightly so, he is not really effective at lock, and not what we need at lock either.
Secondrow would be my first priority, and if Brooks doesn't step up a halfback, then an outside back, hooker is just a fair way down the list in my opinion

McInnes played 6 games at lock in 2020 when the Dragons tried the Bent Hunt #9 experiment.

They won 4 out of those 6 games, but that wasn't because BH was shifted to 9.

It was because CM is a natural leader, he was vocal, constantly barked orders and effectively led the pack around the field.

Look at their current form and tell me which ones better... McInnes had a very good year. Liddle hasn’t played that well consistently ever and Simpkin is a rookie. As it stands, McInnes would be the best hooker at the club.

Hopefully those two come good and we don’t even need to worry about signing a hooker, but fact is if McInnes came here it would be to be our first choice hooker as of right now

If McInness comes to us he'll play 13. You need a ball playing lock nowadays as the game is more centered around the ability to score points. The Twal mould of lock is over.
He'll play a role very similar to what Radley does at the Roosters
