I’m watching the NRL 360 opener and the grubs think Tigers will be bottom 4 this year.

Ben Ikin bagged us out completely and says crap like “they don’t know who’s playing in what position, the 6 and 7 is undecided”

Jesus.. he doesn’t know crap.

Bet they are good mates with Benji too, so have a personal interest in slamming us. I live in hope of a good finish this year, but the first few weeks will be tough.

So much has changed in just a few months. Looking at the players off contract for 2022, and i can't see many that would improve our squad. Players like Jake Friend would have got our keen interest, as well as many others, but we have such a strong forward pack now ,i don't see a vacancy. Our backs have some doubts about them, time will tell, and we have some quality in CC. Who do the forum members think is worth chasing that will be off contract ?

After watching pretty closely on Sunday I’m convinced we should spend big on the right side second rower and the left winger. Finucane and Sivo would propel us into premiership calculations.

TBH, don't know much about Finucane, but would love to have Sivo here.

But I don't think the club is that interested in paying overs for anyone?

Finucane is ten times the player than Siro.

Hey guys, staying under the radar is good, the less the opposition knows, the more it is to our benefit. The first couple of games although hard , are winnable. The opposing side will not be able to get a read on our game, as we have around 8 new players and no game recordings for them to study,.

Yep , that’s what I think . Also Ennis has a bee in his bonnet over the fact we didn’t play Reynolds and got rid him .

Better to face the toughest opponents early in the season when they haven't gelled yet.

Michael Chammas is the only “expert” with a brain in his head , basically saying we have spent the last 2 years recruiting the best talented juniors available . Which is 💯 true .
The only reason they think our halves are unstable is because we trialed everyone there , which is what trials are . . Hot tip . AD and Brooks are our halves . Liddle and Simpkins / Mbye will share the 9 . Mbye / Laurie the one . And first drop for halves is Mbye / madden .

Also it’s ok if Simpkin spends the year destroying CC cup teams . He’s 19 !! If Mbye moves on then he comes up. We get an injury , he comes up . It’s pretty sorted IMO.

It doesn't really matter what the journos think. If we start consistently winning, they will shut up and start talking us up as if they knew we were a chance all along. Talks cheap these days. Ikin is so deluded that he probably thinks the broncos will make the GF this year

Mikaele is a young forward who has been thrown to the wolves. Most if not all young props begin their careers off the bench and play a small amount of minutes. Due to our poor pack in recent years Mikaele has been the main man the Tigers have looked at to make metres. No senior forwards leading the way at all in recent years. He will be a completely different player with big senior forwards around him

Well he better, because he's going to be quickly overtaken otherwise.

All our middle forwards are going to be under pressure. Stef, Mikaele, Tuki Simpkins and Musgrove can all have an impact. Twal, Joe O and Tamou are good but more workers.

I'd play Tuki Simpkins off the bench and at lock. I reckon he looks heaps better than Twal at lock. I suppose you play both of them for the moment.

Someone is missing out. I reckon Mikaele deserves a bench spot based on his trial form.

Tuki has an X factor about him.

Don’t know what it is but you can just tell this guy knows how to throw his weight around - and I love it!

I think what he has is big core strength, combined with his height / long arms. Especially the try that resulted from his flick offload - that was right in front of us and he went heavily into the carry, but still got his arms free in the tackle. IIRC he took 3 tacklers with him. He seems to be able to give the ball space despite being tackled.

Now considering he's still a big lumpy kid, it's impressive to have that ability to free himself in tackles. I'm contrasting this to other young guys like Stefano or Tuilagi who are very powerful but are looking for heavy contact to pump legs and fall on their front.

I don't want to go overboard because he's still fresh, but very impressive in the trials. I remember seeing Aaron Woods play his first Foundation Cup and you just knew he had special talent.

What's actually surprising to me is that Tuki is not still pursuing rugby. He's got a real rugby forward build and a sort of hunched loping running style. He looked ready to contest a ruck every tackle.

Very John Eales type physique and mobility now I think about it.

Have to agree Tuki is more than a bash and barge forward , the offload is the money ball while attracting multiple defends ..it takes lot to get me interested in a forward but this fella certainly has !

Reminds me of a young sonny bill.
We have to be careful with this one, with regards to his development.
I'd dare say the roosters will be calling in a few years.
I reckon he's earned the starting lock spot

Two games against reserve grade quality opposition, yes he looks good and fingers crossed he will be a very good player but a young Sonny Bill might be a big call.

Yeah I meant in stature, ability to free his upper body and offload, and just the freak potential.

Also the amount of average ex footballers being called "legends" by their own employers is a bit much too.

Here’s the article.

Also the one thing I see is that we dont have to fill the top 30 until August 1st..

Ikin only cares about the glamour clubs. give him 2 years and he'll be kissing our feet. as for Ennis, never rated him as a pundit.

I dont rate Ennis at all to the point where I dont watch a single Fox program with him in it.

Reynolds isnt our problem anymore.

Finucane just makes the grand final wherever he plays, and took to rep footy like a duck to water. He’s a Brad Clyde type that doesn’t get raps but he’s a superstar. The club have chased him before.

didn't happen, the former Storm CEO got the jump on him.

The trouble is Ikin thinks his thoughts and opinions are relevant,

unfortunately for him they are not and neither is that idiot Ennis.

You see, the story is that Fox keep Anasta, Hodges, Meninga etc.
to try and make Ikin and Ennis seem like they know somrthing.

However people with half a brain know that they are all dopes -
maybe with the exception of Alexander.
