Nathan brown off contract this year..... option?
Blore showed him up last year big time. PASS
I hate Brown but he's an origin player whereas Blore has played 5 games in first grade off the bench. There is no comparison.
Brown has played 2 Origins total after approx 100 first grade matches. It took him 7 seasons of FG to rack up those 100 matches. Blore barely played a fraction of a season.
However this thread isn't about Brown or Blore in 2020, it's about Brown in 2022. In that case there totally is a comparison, because you have to predict their output in more than a season from now. Blore is 20, Brown is 28. Brown might not play Origin again. Blore's career is mostly in front of him.
Also nothing to say you can't have both Brown and Blore.
Personally I think Brown is on the wane and I think Tigers have already invested pretty heavily in youth in Brown's preferred positions. I'd rather be purchasing a 60-minute prop or a hole-running backrower, if we were going after experienced forwards.
Nathan Brown’s only 28, if anything for a forward he’s just hitting his prime and would be an asset wherever he goes
As much as I love Blore, would be silly to compare the two as Brown is a rep player who bends the line and gives his team some much needed grunt and aggression while also showing he can be consistent over the period of several seasons while Blore has played only a handful of games and hasn’t had that ability to fully showcase his capabilities and that’s not a knock on him or anything
Brown is basically what Packer should’ve been for us and we were willing to fork out like 600-700k for him....
When Packers contract runs out at the end of the season I wouldn’t mind offering a slightly less deal to Brown to give us that platform and start our sets with a bang bending the line with a fast play the ball to allow players like Stefano, Twal, Blore, Joffa, Luciano and all the rest of the young lads to excel even further using that momentum and make us a more intimidating and aggressive squad
You watch tonight the energy he brings when he takes a hit up and I’m sure you’ll agree
Russell Packer was 28 when we signed him from St George. He was killing it at the time. Then the injuries kicked in. You always have to be wary of forwards at that age or older. Especially guys with Brown's playing style. They usually have shorter careers for a reason - their bodies are busted. There is yet to be a forward to play 300 games with the kamikaze style of play. Even Jason Taumalolo, arguably the greatest forward we've seen play rugby league, is starting to show signs of wear and tear at 27. There are rumours that he is busted and that's why Payten has opted to reduce his minutes so heavily.
Taumalolo's back is stuffed
He been carrying the Cowboys since 2019
I think it's his hand actually
