There was an article saying there was drama with a board member leaving anyone know anything about that?

I’m no lawyer but if a nrl club gave him a contract think it would be hard for nrl to refuse. He’s no criminal. He’s a footballer who cares about all the other crap.

He’s done nothing wrong at the nrl as yet.

Sounds like the Board got it right to me.

Of course it would to you - that doesn't surprise me.

If Benji can hold his own in a quality side so could Brooks. The magic answer is not in recruiting or sacking one player. If the top 6 sides don't prove that you just don't want to see it.

Oh wow. It is *never* Brooks' fault. I feel so sorry for him! Such an amazing player surrounded by losers. We should pay him more to thank him for sticking with us. He's a fine player but he's not winning anyone a competition.

So you say he’s a fine player but we should get rid of him because he can’t single handedly win the comp. Brooks should be able to win the comp for us never mind how the rest of the squad plays?
Well the way I see it, Reynolds works well for the Rabbits because he’s in a spine with Mitchell Cook & Walker and he has a host of quality rep players around him that have played together for some time.
Last night I saw him make a few mistakes, a few bad 5th tackle options and poor kicks - but he scored a try backing up and kicked a great field goal, he set up a try with a cross kick etc. Brooks has done the same sort of things in his recent games but some on here have chosen to focus solely on his errors.
For those who think our recent form as a team can be solved by getting rid of Brooks, all i say is that it is an extremely simplistic and unrealistic view of the game and our team.

I think if Brooks could nail his kicks we would do better
Much better
Putting teams under pressure on their own line tends to win games
Look I admit it's not all Brooks fault that we haven't made the finals in so long
But he had played big part in that especially as our chief playmaker and organiser

How anyone could possibly want Folau is beyond me.

Why? We are short on backs and the guy is as good an athlete as you will find.

Hasn’t played NRL in 10 years and would be a PR disaster. Would be a shocking decision.

If our main sponsor has left the door open then maybe it’s a possibility. Played super league last year .

I can’t see us being that stupid tbh

And PV has said no way he's coming back despite the Christian campaign.

Not sure what the courts would say despite PV thinking he is above the law

Who cares - we are not a retirement/superannuation home anymore - unless we sign Reynolds that is.

Reynolds is 30, and despite what some people are sprouting he is not injury prone, check how many games he has missed through injury, it is not many at all.
And if people thinks he is not an upgrade, well I have been watching different games to them, he offers a lot of what we don’t have but desperately need.
Souths cap for 2023 is just about tapped out, that is the sticking point on the second year, no conspiracy theory

Reynolds is a top quality halfback with an excellent kicking game (long, short and goal). He'd be a huge upgrade on Brooks. A potential 2022 spine of Laurie, Doueihi, Reynolds and Simpkin is exciting.

Adam Reynolds is a controlling half and needs to be matched with a creative 5/8 like Walker, Laui or Johnson. Not a running 5/8 like Doueihi. Someone has to be creative.

If we bought Reynolds I would put Daine Laurie to 5/6, Doueihi to centre and look for another fullback.

You are absolutely spot on.
Reynolds is a game manager (a very good one) and is surrounded by creative players at the moment (Latrell, walker and cook).

If we were to sign him, Brooks could be a creative 5/8 without the pressure to organize. Or as you said, daine Laurie to 5/8.

Hell, I'd be on board for Reynolds and Shaun Johnson in the halves, Laurie at fullback and Douhi to centre.

Good mix of creativity and organisation.

I don't understand this 'our best FB to 5/8' thinking, the same happened with Tedesco, people wanted him to play center or wing??? And get Moylan or Wighton??
Lairie is our best FB by miles, so I would look for 'like for like'
so it we want the new 7, sign Raynolds, Johnson or Schuster.

I think we have the players personally . Laurie and AD and Simpkin and brooks , is a very good spine . I’m more inclined to look at Staggs , Jordan Riki , Xavier Coates etc . Edge strike players .

I reckon we really need another forward like Luc. Maybe Blore gets the job done. We need some more thrust on that right hand side. Garner has done it on occasions and his defense has been fantastic this year but he isn't offering much if anything in attack.

We seem to be holding teams in the middle even Parra but our bench middle forwards are at this point just as good if not better than our starting middle forwards.

Our spine needs work though. I agree that potentially they are good but it's going to take some time for them to get it together especially AD. AD looks great at times but he is inconsistent.

Potentially we have a good depth: Blore, Simpkins, Tuilagi Rogers-Smith, and Amone.

Just a little exercise for a minute.....
I realise opinions on the quality of players is very subjective but let’s look at all the positions in a team. Prop, hooker/dh, second row, lock, half, 5/8, centre, wing and fullback. Ok, so now lets compare and rank the players across all teams by their position starting from best players in their position.
Where would any of the WT players fit in such a ranking- would any player be in the top 8 (or 16 for those positions with 2 players per team)?? Do we have any players at all that are amongst the best in their position?
I know there is much much more to a winning team than this simple question, and even with a number of quality players some teams do not perform, but it does make you realise that without the cattle as a starting point we should not be surprised that we can’t mix it with the best.

Lubinskas was only trying to maintain the original agreement that was made when the JV started. That agreement was that both Balmain and Wests would both keep their identities in the next tier down from NRL. But hey as a club WT have failed at most things so why not fail at trying to keep the integrity of the original JV agreement as well.

That agreement is 22 years old, isn't it about time we updated our understanding on lower-tier teams? It should be Wests Tigers all the way down. Merge the junior teams too wherever it's a city-wide (rather than regional) competition. What's the point of funding two teams at junior level?

I’m only hoping lol. I reckon broncos, cowboys and tigers will go in for Reynolds. The Hastings talks a few weeks ago was very clearly our coach playing his cards and showing that level of play won’t be accepted anymore. Very rare for an elite half to come on the market . He ticks all the boxes and would be the experience needed in a young spine of Laurie, simpkin and douhei.

Naysayers ? That’s an interesting way to look at it . I saw a guy get to his kicks , and shift early to benji and Lattrell .
I didn’t see anything worth 1 mil a year . Which is what it would cost .

Would it? $1.4 mill over 2 years is the current offer.

He'd be worth that.

What do we do with brooks ? Offload to the boys ? Also what do we do in 2024 ? Is madden gonna wait ? Is there a junior coming through ? Not saying I hate it . Just there’s a lot to sort out , the future 3 years from now the most important . Plus you all know I’m pro brooks .

The question is not what do we do with Brooks but what does Brooks do for us
Likely answer : More of the same
We need to be looking for better
Wether that's 2,3 years or 4 years it doesn't matter
I like Brooks loyalty but it has not helped us
2 years from a quality player like Reynolds is better than 4 more years of Brooks
Aren't we all sick of waiting
I'll be in a retirement home soon
Brooks really needs to show more over the next 6 weeks
If he can't then we must go hard for Reynolds

Unfortunately after last night's performance I think souths will have to re sign Reynolds or the supporters will march just like they did to get back in to the league

Did I just see Reynolds going down to Rusty's farm

You’re missing my point . Brooks is 26 , so would have been planned out to 2025 at the earliest as the half . So now , if we get Reynolds , that timeline moves forward , as I don’t think anyone seriously thinks he will last beyond a 2 yr contract .
So then getting/ developing the future half of our team , is really , really important .
Madden will be 24 around then , so maybe it’s him ? But you can’t be so short sighted . If we go for Reynolds , then that means we have to have our halfback of the future in the club at the same time .

Sorry, but I want to win now, not in the future.

We have been saying that for 10 years.

Let the future look after itself.

That's unfrotunately what has happened for some time - go for the sugar hit and instant gratification but in the long term you just rot away.
I want success just like you but we may have to be patient again this year as frustrating and demoralising as it is. We need to think long game.

We need to be patient with our young spine who have played a small amount of games. Brooks has played over 150 games. How much more patient can we be? Unless we are trying to help him set the record for most games played without playing finals.

We need to be patient with our young spine who have played a small amount of games. Brooks has played over 150 games. How much more patient can we be? Unless we are trying to help him set the record for most games played without playing finals.

Yes, he needs to improve. Yes, he has had some shockers. But he also never really had the right go forward other 'star' halves have. It makes a big difference.

Thing is a half in his 30s should only be offered a 2 year deal, or at best a 2+1 in the clubs favour. But knowing us we'll offer Reynolds 750 over 3+1 and then he'll do his knee and play 20 games for us in that time.

2 years at 700k is the max for Reynolds. Offer market rates, especially if he wants to stay in sydney rather than move interstate.

Michael Morgan medically retired. I think this is going to trigger some big moves. Brooks & mbye to cowboys, Reynolds to tigers.

Yeah that gives the Cows an extra 500k to play with this season and an extra million next season. Huge lucky break for them, less so for Morgan

I’m pretty sure 4 or 5 of our forwards ran for over 100 metres last week. This is the best forward pack we have had since I can remember. It’s not the forwards fault he put in 1 good kick all game .

if the naysayers are watching this WE NEED REYNOLDS

Same as every year, just believe everything is turning around.
I dunno, I don't think we'd be worse of next year with him.

What ? No there’s got to be a plan . If brooks isn’t the man , then we have to have a plan for next year (Reynolds) as well as 2024 . And potentially 2028 . That’s what the panthers and roosters and storm do .

Get Reynolds
Brooks to cowboys or ESL
Reynolds can teach madden
Everyone is a winner

Laurie
Doueihi
Reynolds
Liddle /Simpkin

Get a couple of ball playing forwards and a decent winger

Bob’s your uncle

What about 2024 ? I actually like Reynolds , but if we get him we need to find our half of the future and have him walk in step with Reynolds , as a succession plan

Did you read my post properly?

lol , clearly not . Sorry

2 years $1.5m plus 1 year in clubs favour. He would be earning less then josh Reynolds , packer, mbye and Brooks earnt here.
