Think we go after Sean Johnson to replace AD

Sean Johnson is just another Benji, no thanks.

Well we fighting for the spoon atm let’s see how the season goes and the difference Johnson makes Coming back. Remember is a results driven business.

Danny Weidler reporting Hastings returning to the NRL next year with Tigers front runners to sign him.

what are we going to play Hastings as a ball playing 13 ?
Brooks is better than Hastings as a 7 and Mmbye is doing a good job.
We would be better making a play for B Smith as hooker for 20 then bring on Simpkin and B Smith goes to 13

BREAKING: Jackson Hastings is set to return to NRL in 2022. Sources in UK say he wants to return home. Wests Tigers remain the front runner and unless there is a last minute hitch that is where he will play next year and beyond

Sounds like holding out for more money

Would mean the end of mbye.

I don't understand the push back saying this is a new low.

It's obvious we can't attract marquee talent. JAC, Latrell etc all refused to come here. Hastings had issues years ago yes, but just like any other NRL player with issues in their past, he's likely changed and grown up.

We have to improve our squad. We can't attract marquee talent, and we can't keep signing mediocre has beens. A young half who has been shredding up Super League is a risk we have to take.

Would we really want a grub like Latrell at our club

And Addo-Carr seems to have lost his form and we are also talking almost another year for him to slide further

We may have finally got lucky here
But time will tell

We've some pretty useful wingers in our Flegg. Why spend a fortune when we can produce one or two with histories we are aware of?

Are any FG ready?

For next year yes, which is probably when we could get a new recruit anyway.

I would think we need some this season?

None of the names mentioned excite me or fill me with confidence. We have two or three young fellows that do excite me but they need a bit more time. Talau does a job for us as well as any names mentioned. He is underrated.

Underrated ?
He costs us in every game ...
Take off the beer googles ?

Why he didn't smash Latrine in the in goal the other night will remain a mystery even if he coped a penalty it would have been worthwhile

Mbye will be gone if not some time this definitely next Hastings will be a good replacement first Mbye.

Brent Naden's terms for 2022 & 23 have been agreed upon, Talk ongoing to see if there's a chance of getting him this year (made all more desperate now with AJ's injury).
Club has been talking to Isaac Lumelume's management about an early release to bolster this years backline, nothing eventuated as yet, not ruled out as a 2022 signing.

Semi Valemei (Raiders), Nene McDonald (Sharks) & Tevita Funa (Sea Eagles) have been mentioned as possible depth signings before August Cut Off.

Mbye has been pretty good this year so I'm not sure I see a huge improvement (with Hastings) and there's the risk of someone with a questionable reputation. At least Mbye seems like a decent human.

I realise Mbye has been a whipping boy here though I think it's predominantly based on his over-inflated wage. I'd prefer to see how the year progresses before shafting Mbye - our halves depth is poor so an additional option isn't bad.

Not bad. I don't mind Funa as a player probably the best of the 3 mentioned there. Naden early would be really nice

Any big money players being looked at for
2022? Hastings seems very likely as well? Thanks for the info @THE_POM

I don't think it will be WT'S doing the shafting
if a player asks for permission to talk to other clubs a year before his contract expires and 7mths before other clubs are allowed to approach him he has something in mind and lis looking elsewhere hence the improvement of late

Coming down to $$$ Hastings management obviously using his current status in the Super League to ask for decent coin, but club being wary. 1st year to be modest with incentives once proven he can match it back in the NRL.

Not sure if counted as big money but there has been discussions with Issac Liu, 2 year deal has been mentioned but I highly doubt he'd leave the Roosters unless the money was too good to turn down.

Highly doubtful, transfer fee more than club was happy to fork out.

Paying a transfer fee for a bloke who has not been a success in Australia is ridiculous. He is nothing special
