Love the Jackson Hastings signing the club has tried several times to buy top level players and has failed because they don’t want to come here it would be great if we could sign Cameron Munster but in reality it’s never going to happen we have to keep trying to find value in players like Hastings until all our young gun rookies come through and hopefully develop into solid first graders
Ps how good is stefano what an absolute beast

Wow.......this is EXACTLY where Tigers fans are now. We dont deserve good players thank God Jackson Hastings accepted us.

Well what choice do we have?

We have a choice NOT to accept cast offs. This is what has disappointed me about this signing.

For everyone saying "whats the risk if he is on low money?", firstly we dont know what money he is on and secondly, regarless of the money he is on, he is another half/5/8/utility on the roster and it prevents us buying another 6/7/14 because there is a finite number you can have in the 30.

So THIS is the half/utility the club has settled for, THIS is the clubs answer.

Pretty typical of a forum- split whether it's a good signing or not. Impossible for the club to get anything right in terms of keeping the fans happy when the fans are split on most decisions. Some will be right and some will be wrong, and no doubt we will hear about it when he gets here - I told you so...

We could sign Jason Taumalolo and people would find a way to complain about it... us footy fans are whiners! 😂

Penrith are light on front rowers
For Naden this year give them Mikaele or tom amone not that I want to lose either of them but you need to offer a player someone will take

That is just plain stupid.
Amone will be our most effective hard running forward something we have never had.
Mikaele is starting to turn the corner, he is bending the line and running hard.
We don’t need Naden that badly especially if he is signed for next year.

MCK, Packer, Walters and a few others are surplus to our needs & should be front offering.

I see Amone in firsts pretty soon . Not sure who he replaces , maybe Musgrove ? I can’t see Garner getting dropped , when Blore returns ,he’s been good . So 2 middles on the bench 3 in the starting pack means Twal , Jofa , Tamou , Uto , Mika , Musgrove , and Amone . 2 have to drop out . It’s gonna be some tough decisions very soon .

I don’t reckon Musgrove will get cut. I like his starch. Just needs to cut out the bonehead stuff

Musgrove is on a 4 contract
He won't get cut
Amone will come in at some stage as well
So will Simpkins and Blore will be back

I think we will see Twal , Garner and Mikaele as back ups if we don't see further improvement from them
Tamou may even be Back up if the new guys can fire
I know he is Captain but we are here to win games, not play favourites
Besides Brooks is also Captain

Madge will be going for more aggression on the field

I don't see it that way. The proposition you quote "if" he is on low money is fair enough. We don't know how much he is being paid, but "if" it is not much then it minimises the risk. It would be out of character for the club to pay overs.

He may be "another half/5/8/utility" but Walters will not be here next year and it is possible that Mbye will be gone also. So getting a utility for 2022 seems sensible.

I view him as a replacement for Walters. We will have to wait and see if he turns out to be an astute acquisition.

Exactly. I think I remember when we signed Laurie, there were a lot of "4th choice fullback at Penrith, he's not going to be that good" and vice versa, I expected more from Tamou.

Yeah I’ve noticed that Brooks is in game captain when Tamou is off. That’s a big call. I like it. Worked for Ben Hunt. Probably just what he needs to get the best out of him.

Can’t agree with your assessment of Twal. He was cutting the bunnies into halves with his tackles on the night. First player picked for mine and plays as many minutes as he possibly can! Prop, Lock, Backrow doesn’t matter has to be in the 13. Offa for mine is expandable and one of Tamou or Musgrove.

It’s simply good roster management replace departing players with better players makes perfect sense to me

woukd it not have been worth making a play for Cheese instead of Hastings as hooker / utility

They still can.
Hastings will be pushing for the 7 jumper.

Keep writing and posting CK and telling yourself that. With each stroke of the keyboard that air of desperation and despondency becomes palpable.

For those questioning his commitment and attitude after reading what his current bosses at Wigan said about him then here's some quotes from the Salford coach and management...

**Head Coach Ian Watson said**: “Signing Jackson for the 2019 season is a great piece of business by the Club and a great piece of business for Super League as a whole.

“**His energy and enthusiasm around the Club and the boys is infectious** and you can see in the games he’s played how it lifts people around him. We have always had effort and commitment from our team but Jackson **has lifted the pressure and allowed others to just play and enjoy the game.**

**“Jackson wants to lead a team and be the dominant half and that fits perfectly within our team dynamics.**

“I hope Jackson can continue to enjoy his football and show everyone over the next twelve months how good a signing he is.”

He went on to win the Man of Steel.

**Director of Rugby and Operations Ian Blease said**: “We are absolutely delighted to have Jackson put pen to paper on a new deal with our Club.

“Jackson was instrumental to our form and finish at the back end of this season and he has been fantastic in and around the Club over the past three months. **He has great character, a winning mentality** – which I admire greatly – and he is infectious.

“Jackson **has developed a great relationship with the players, staff, fans** and the City’s community as a whole in such a sport space of time at the Club and **that’s a credit to him as a person.**

Doesn't sound like a problem child to me.

Funny .... I'm not the one sounding desperate or posting the same replies to different comments.
I'm just happy we've signed someone who really wants to win every game.
I'll be over the moon if Brooks comes good ... but I can't see it happening.

So let me get this straight ... you’re confirming his commitment by his tenure at 2 super league clubs
... one he left after one and a half seasons, and the other after signing an NRL contract midway through his 2nd club?

Yep sounds really committed to me.

What was your favourite fairy tale to read as a kid?

@hobbo1 The Chad...

Was that the name of his previous hairstyle? Sort of a cross between a Roy Orbison and the cartoon Boofhead.

Dunno..but I've always called him The Chad..who went down with his ship in Charlie's Angels..

The Chad was good.

Roosters do not let too many stars go, they let him go.
Time will tell

I'm all for people having an issue with the signing, but your argument here isn't really sensible. He signed a half year contract with Salford, then he signed for a further year. He was a free agent when he left to go to Wigan and he's playing out his contract there before moving here. He hasn't asked for an early release and has committed to see out his contract. So your issue with him is that he saw out his contract and then moved somewhere else?

Additionally, he signed with Wigan mid year at Salford and then went on to be their best player and win Man of Steel. There hasn't been a word about his lack of commitment in the UK except for people on this forum, which tbh seems pretty agenda driven.
