For those questioning his **commitment and attitude** after reading what his current bosses at Wigan said about him then here's some quotes from the Salford coach and management...

So let me get this straight ... you’re confirming his commitment by his tenure at 2 super league clubs
... one he left after one and a half seasons, and the other after signing an NRL contract midway through his 2nd club?

Yep sounds really committed to me.

What was your favourite fairy tale to read as a kid?

I'm all for people having an issue with the signing, but your argument here isn't really sensible. He signed a half year contract with Salford, then he signed for a further year. He was a free agent when he left to go to Wigan and he's playing out his contract there before moving here. He hasn't asked for an early release and has committed to see out his contract. So your issue with him is that he saw out his contract and then moved somewhere else?

Additionally, he signed with Wigan mid year at Salford and then went on to be their best player and win Man of Steel. There hasn't been a word about his lack of commitment in the UK except for people on this forum, which tbh seems pretty agenda driven.

So you don’t find it concerning that he hasn’t committed to any of his clubs for longer than 2 years?

Theres a difference between signing a long contract with a club and committing to one imo. From the outside looking in it seems he's had 100% commitment wherever he's played no matter the duration. Gave his all for Salford, raised them from being dumped as a club to grand finalists. Then once his contract was up went to Wigan and helped get them to another gf. An example of non commitment to a club you'd look at Bryce Cartwright at the titans or Milford currently at the Broncos.

I agree to an extent but I don’t believe commitment should be highlighted as one of his traits as that bloke I quoted pointed out

I mean it's no secret that Super league was never the end game for Hastings. He has always been working on himself in the hope he could earn his way back into the NRL. So it does make sense that he hasn't been committing long term to SL clubs. The Tigers contract by most reports is a performance based one, basically a toe in the water from the club for him to prove himself. If he does I'd expect a more long term contract to find its way to his management.

Enjoyed them about as much as all the ones with Brooks telling us it’s his team and how he’s going to lead us to glory .???

This clubs awful recruitment apart from the odd diamond in the roughies might make some people feel that way about these type of signings

I’m glad you accept mediocrity though. I think we can aim higher that’s all

I’m not sure what all the fuss is about....

Hastings signed a low value, short term contract....very little risk.

No one said he would replace Brooks or even make the team. Time will tell...

As far as NRL half options go, there aren’t many around for next year, so it’s an astute buy imo even if only for depth.

He'll be fine.
Some people on this forum are like my staffie - he has to go on every tree so he can feel he's better than the other dogs in the street.

How is our salary cap going these days? If we get rid of Packer, BJ and Mbye(50%) this year wht are we looking at? What was Brooks resigned on? 700k?

The way I see it:

Moses Mbye leaves the club at the end of this year, we pay half of his salary to leave.

Jackson Hastings moves into the 14 role

Thoughts?

Well we have 700k left in this yrs cap. We have Packers 750k, BJs 600k and probably 400k of Mbye coming off plus a few others where we dont save much because their replacement would be on similar money for similar level. But effectively we have 2.5m over 5 spots.

However the other consideration is that we will need to upgrade our yiung stars for 2023 if not earlier - Laurie, Stefano, Simpkins, Blore all signed as young non nrl players will be resigned as rising stars of the NRL so we some of it will need to go to them plus Luciano will need a signifcant upgrade

Personally wouldn’t be in a rush to let him go. He’s been good value off the bench

Can't believe we would pay 50% of Mbye's salary to play elsewhere. We then buy a player of Mybe's ability with the other 50% and we are no better off.

With the signing of Hastings I sort of get the feeling the club is setting it self up to sign a strike forward as opposed to some one with potential. Packer finishing up money will be available
