I know some won't like the idea but Nathan Brown is off contract and a few clubs have pulled out. Would not mind him in the team to add some aggression with Blore for the right price.

I think he’s what we need to be honest

I'd take him at $600k no problem.

Runs it from the back fence and would challenge others to play with his passion. Either that or he’d catch the mediocrity virus.

Or Blore would smash him in a contact session.

Re the signing of Reynolds, Brown, and others.. Penrith has shown the way, and that is the blueprint we should follow.
We must look and plan for the future, and not buy players in their twilight years, we have been burnt badly in the past.
Do the Storm, Easts, Penrith etc buy players at their career ends ? Anxiety causes bad decicions, success takes time.
We must learn from the errors of the past.

problem is a team like the Roosters see a tedesco and says they want them and they get them.
I am worried Simpkin will be a big target for Roosters they don't have a hooker and Radley is not a dummy half.

For one year with a club option. Nathan Brown is the type of player who is one bad injury away from becoming a plodder.

18 last year, 6 this year. At 28 has he got a chronic injury?

He's at the age where forwards generally start to decline. Also in order for him to be good he needs to keep the same playing style, which is terrible for his body. He could quite easily get here and just try to get through his contract in order to earn his $. Seen it plenty of times from many players of his stature.

Yeah, he plays a very physical game but a few years left in him I reckon.

4 years at that kind of money is a huge risk for the kind of game he plays.

In my mind we are already doing just that. We have learnt and the guys in charge of recruitment have done a fair job.

Nathan Brown. Sure he has something most of our forwards lack but his playing style won’t last much longer nor will his pace. He is a very good player but only way he comes here is on a 3-4yr deal and if he wants 600k thats too much per season. Maybe 450k per season for 3yrs but can’t agree to entertaining a 600k per season offer.

manly said no to his 4 year 2.6M demand - he's not worth that. surely he is an injury waiting to happen the way he runs

I want blokes who run like it will injure them.

Would prefer a bloke that injures the opposition.

Yes it's like investing in shares and property, you buy at the bottom of the market, not at the top, otherwise you have only one way to go, and thats down! As the song goes,--YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD THEM, AND KNOW WHEN TO THROW THEM !

I think they should still sign Liddle for 2022. He's a great back up option if Jake gets injured

Yes they absolutely do
- Easts got both Morris boys at the end of their careers
- Storm sign all kind of players at what looked then end their careers
- Penrith signed Jennings and Esienhuth just this year

The Morris brothers seem to have worked out for etc roosters. But there is always an exception to the rule

I agree in principle and believe that is what is happening. But if you go back over Panthers the last 5 years or so, they used some experienced players to tie them over until the kids were ready.

The Morris boys on minimum money and short contracts, that was wise. The others are backups, not the core side. My comment are general, there are always exceptions to the rule. We do not as yet have a strong 18 players, this must be where we must be carefull about dud buys. We , as well as others will never be perfect,.

Duffy on the outer at Saints, could we find a position for him?

Don't think he will want to play on the wing and we have Daine who is very similar but with better hands. But if he was happy to be winger I would not say no.

And we don't have a reasonable backup for Laurie.

Cant see us even entertaining the idea of Nathan Brown. Goes against our recruitment model.

I agree with others, too big a risk of decline to offer top money.

I reckon he is the type of signing we should stay well away from. We'd be paying him top dollar and he is going to have to kill it to be decent signing.

I honestly don't think he'd be much of an improvement to our squad. We are strong in the middle forwards and we have some good talent not getting picked in the top team.
