Just some retention updates:

Jacon Liddle, Tom Amone & Zac Cini have 1 year deals now on the table for 2022. Liddle's management want 2 & wouldn't surprise me if they add the extra year, Bulldogs keen on Liddle also but he seems to be a back up if they can't land a big fish like Smith or Daryl Clark.

Early days but a 2 year deal being discussed for Thomas Mikaele, Panthers & Raiders also interested.

Chee Kam won't be retained, at least not top 30.

Club in no rush with Seyfarth.

Russell Packer well................we all know where that's going.

Russell packyourbagsandleave

Interesting comment from Mark Spud Carroll on SEN last night. Carroll said he went down to training and wanted to give some tips to Packer on what to work on.

Packers response was "Its OK mate I know what Im doing"
Carrolls response was..."Mate, you are in reserve grade!"

Wow, too good to take advice.

Oops.

It is an interesting article to read. Ivan's interest in how a junior coach was coaching his under 12s to play touched me as he clearly had an interest in the kids welfare. It was nice to read.

A positive comment about Ivan? Not allowed on here my friend

If you haven’t already noticed Paws has an affinity for Mild Mannered, new world coaches like Ivan and very much unlike Madge and Bellamy.

Paws has knowledge, you will soon learn.

You can only shout, get angry and have a tantrum so many times before it loses its impact and players don't listen. When that happens, there will be some bother.

Ivan was just interviewed on Ch10 news concerning the potential loss of more players and officials from the Panthers. In his laid back way he said we will deal with it. And you know that he will.

is this a love in? he completely stuffed us

Why are gross displays of anger considered an effective way of getting your message across? Aren't there more effective methods of communication? The audience are men and surely behaving in that manner lessens the standing of the coach in the eyes of these men as well as a loss of respect. Some of the best leaders and communicators I have been involved with are softly spoken but command tremendous respect.

Theodore Roosevelt's borrowing of the West African proverb 'tread lightly but carry a big stick' is so true.

Sounds like that's what we got Hastings for though

Based on what? Forum speculation. No one knows where Hastings will play. Madge night not even know

Madge might not know for sure, but he most definitely should have a pretty good idea. Signing a player up without at least some idea of how you're going to use him surely is beyond even us.

"Signing a player up without at least some idea of how you're going to use him surely is beyond even us."
Yep.
Braith Anasta ??
Matt Ballin (ok to kick out Farah and have us subsidize Souths juniors)
Signing Benji Marshall back with Josh Reynolds at 5/8 (good move, just where does Josh go...never answered).
Moses Mbye, 700k and I have no idea what position we brought him in for?

In fairness I have seen us leave room for Juniors to grow. It has worked for other clubs, but not us. That being said had we kept Moses, Tedesco with Brooks, we would probably have the best spine of the bottom 8 in the competition!

Tyson gamble makes Luke brooks look ordinary.

Yep. We kept the wrong bloke that's for sure

So frustrating. Gamble actually talks

Lack of talk is a real issue it was real evident live at the game last week looked like cats not tigers. No talk in halves or forwards

Don’t come to my place, to watch a game, if we are playing ordinary then.

I think the medical term is called, venting.

Yeah all good points showing my statement is probably wrong when referring to our history. I'm hoping that our signings now have more purpose about them.

I guess we'll see with Hastings next year. If he doesn't start the year in First Grade, unless he's injured at the time, then the plan was obviously lacking and we've got next to no hope.

If Roberts could actually get some early ball or some grubbers put through the line for him I am sure he would be doing better. I dont understand why so many teams spread it wide when inside their own 20 n we dont when we have a real fast player in Roberts

I keep saying the halves are the problem until this is fix Zip.

I agree, and Hastings will be 7 if not the start of next year, it will be early rounds, in my opinion he is coming to do what Brooks can't.

Is Hastings fast enough to be in the backs? Looking a recent games in the UK he doesn’t look very quick. He might be better as a ball playing lock

He’s a 7. His job will be to be fast between the ears and get the ball to hopefully some fast outside backs.

Brooks is very fast. Doesn’t help much does it?

Cleary had no issue getting the best from Brooks. Now where is his team sitting?

What’s your point? Cleary ran a million miles away from here and isn’t coming back.

Tired of the excuses made for Brooks. 900k players don’t completely lose form because of the coach. How many coaches has Adam Reynolds had? He managed to perform for all of them.

Cleary can coach. And the amount of $ Brooks is reported to be on fluctuates from between $600k to $900k depending on the writer. And it was on this forum a poster reported Reynolds would not come to WTs?

My issue is, whether or not Cleary can coach, Brooks can play. He was Dally M HB not so far back.

As much as I hate Mitch Moses, you can say he's at least consistent. Consistently average in my opinion, but he more or less does the same job every week, and Parramatta either built upon it with better players, or they don't.

Brooks, he doesn't have that consistency. His best is very much better than Moses, but his regular is average.

I don't believe that only one coach or coach type can get the best from a player, who suddenly becomes a lesser player with another coach.

Having 5 different coaches hasn't helped Brooks ..but he should understand Madge's style by now

I still wonder if Madge has told Brooks to run far less and become the play maker .....which I think is wrong if he has

Shouldn't Maguire understand the strengths and weaknesses of each of his players and adjust his playing style/gameplan accordingly. Cleary in that article articulates he told Brooks to run.

Its a shame Tom Amore is not for 2 years as I think he will be a great player if he can just be given a chance in top grade.. Any chance of Mbye moving on still?

Amone needs to put in then he gets the extras ,no more 4yr deals like Nofo the tanker !

He came back from a Knee injury and play like 5 games and absolutely killing it and averages like 160m a game.. Not a 4 year deal but 2 would be better for me.

In Reggie's .

He was also going well in 1st grade with souths last year before injury.. Just needs to get a go and he will stay in the top grade.

I like Amone's work rate for sure. But the metres will be a lot harder to earn against NRL packs, would like to see him have a bit more impact in ressies tbh but also interested to see if he can just step it up with an NRL opportunity, if so a 2yr would be appropriate!

Mikale smashed him in meters last week.

Yes he did! What we really need is a prop with Amone's workrate and Mikaele's impact.

Well I have asked the question literally a 100 times ...are Brooks calves /hammy's that bad he can't go 100%

Are you suggesting his playing style is hamstrung by problematic coaching?
