The tigers have the third equaly biggest pack in the comp.'
Many thought the game was moving towards smaller more mobile forwards. With the new crackdown on high tackles, this could change the scenario again. The donkeys big guys steamrolled the chickens last night.

Our troubles start without the ball. Our defence has remained consistently appalling.

I thought our middle is OK, its the edge that is the problem?

Definitely the edges

Middle defence is poor but edges are close to the worst I’ve ever seen in NRL.

We need 2 hardcore back rowers .

2 new wingers who can jump and defend and have pace

2 centre’s who can hit hard with pace

And a decent hooker


And people want to blame the coach. Geez.

Show me one winger, centre, second rower or hooker he didn’t sign or re-sign?

And your point is?

It’s his team. If he doesn’t have the coaching ability to get them playing their best, he should walk.

You can only sign what is available at the time. A number of them won’t be here next year, simples.

Certainly been a lot better than the guy before. Picking up some nice juniors.

It's completely plausible he's come in looked at the rosters and said we are 4-5 years away from a premiership team

Yes picking up some of the young talent has been good, but apart from Laurie they are still all unproven - they may work out, they may not. Unfortunately history is against us on that one.

Laurie is a great signing currently wasted in our insipid team. Was Hartigan responsible for signing BJ, Tamou and Roberts?

interesting on the broncs forum a dude with "sauces" reckons madge and the team actually talked to milford in a swap for mbye.

hear me out, but on $300k off the bench and just being told to run and play his natural game, Milford could be brilliant. he's not a starter anymore, but he could be sensational as that second fullback/middle forward style of 14 employed by QLD for SOO

Milford is off contract at end of season and wants 600k a season. We have Mbye for another season on somewhere between 850 and 950k. We would have to pay Milf 600k and probably carry 400k of Mbyes contract - won't happen.

I just saw a Tweet from NBWT saying basicly Nrl looked into WT approaching the two Bronco players, and all good. No dramas, no further investigation needed.

Just Broncos having a sook.

The NRL says there will be no formal probe into Wests Tigers approaching Tevita Pangai Jnr and Jamayne Isaako.

Suggestions Brisbane made a complaint but NRL CEO Andrew Abdo will not launch an investigation. More to come - Pete Badel

You’re probably right, don’t mind being 4-5 years away from a premiership, but I would like to see a competitive team playing out there every week sooner than 4-5 years away.

BJ was either before or just as Hartigan arrived. Tamou was brought here for leadership, which I can see him providing. I think he has been a great mentor for Doueihi and will make him a much better leader in the future, no doubt he needs to improve on the field. I am ok with the Roberts signing, it was a low risk gamble to try and get this squad to the finals this year while we wait for the younger players to progress. It cost minimum wage and has an easy out of the contract.

The strength of Hartigan at this point is most definitely with the juniors but things like the Aloiai situation show his worth. In the past we would have buckled to his insane demands.

Who do you consider is an upgrade that’s available

Reality is there isn’t 2-3 marquee style players on the market.

There are some good players, some rising talent and fringe players up for grabs.

Issue is in a competitive market where a few clubs have cash we either have to take huge risks or we go the slow burn - pay huge overs or buy for price, invest in yet to be known players and grab out of sorts players to hopefully build a competitive squad which may take another 2-3yrs to see the benefits of.

We suck and not alot of current 1st graders would jump from the storm etc to come here unless they got well compensated & even then most pick winning over the cash anyway.

Its actually going to be harder to get those marquee players with new teams starting up and having to fill rosters. I don't think we can bank on signing a marquee to fix our predicament.

Agree, but Reynolds has gone to the Bronc’s for less money than the Sharks offered.
He did mention that the Bronc’s sent a senior delegation down and the Sharks an assistant?
We may have learnt from that, as we did send our most senior delegation up to supposedly talk to a couple of players?

Just on that delegation travelling together, in most companies this is banned, because if anything was to happen, then company management/direction is in disarray?

Morris and Flanagan are the obvious ones imo but there’s a fair few coaches available that would be good choices
