A mate of mine who is a real estate agent in Belconnen reckons that Brooks has been inquiring about apartments in Barton - one of the classy suburbs of Canberra. Seems as though Brooks to Canberra may have legs.

Brooks will shine at canberra.....

He’s not a winner and you need your halfback to be a winner.

Maybe but Andrew Johns won 2 premierships. I reckon plenty of dud halfbacks have won premierships as well.

Plus we aren't a team winning the premiership soon unless we somehow unearth a couple of stars.

So you don't need what you've stated here. It's illogical and doesn't stand up to reality.

I'm not stating if we can get better than Brooks don't do it. The illogical arguments though aren't helpful.

I’m not blaming Brooks for the failings of the team at all, but it’s just my opinion that he doesn’t rise to big occasions.

I agree with this but that doesn't mean that if he did rise to the big occasions that we would be a top team. I reckon there is way too much focus on Brooks rather than the rest of the squad especially when he has a lot of positive attributes and let's be honest he has been pretty good this year.

I'd like Andrew Johns in that role as well. I think Doueihi is a much better player. I'm hopeful Hastings makes one of those halves roles his own.

We don't need a winner at halfback (or maybe better put a top tier half). I mean sure it'd help but I think good edge defense and a top tier player or two in whatever position would make us a lot better team.

I agree completely. Brooks isn’t the reason why we are not a competitive team, there’s a million issues with the club.

Careful what you wish for Brooks haters.....

I’m not a Brooks hater and I thought he was pretty good on the weekend. But he’s not the guy you’d want with the ball if the games on the line. He disappears in big moments IMO.

I also think it would be probably best for him and the club if he went elsewhere. Just my opinion.

To be replaced with.........? Flanagan?

No thank you.

Then it might ***not*** be best for him ***and*** the club if he went elsewhere?

Why are we after Flanagan? I’d rather give AD and Hastings a run as our halves.

My whole point is the screaming to get rid of him, without knowing his replacement is ridiculous. It could very easily be worse, take your example for one (IMO).

You’re more than entitled to your opinion, as am I, but Brooks biggest problem is he has no killer instinct. He’s fast and he’s skilful but he’s not a winner. There’s 8 years of evidence for that.

Stupid comment, 8 years of evidence? The only
Evidence is west’s tigers don’t have a killer instinct + all the stupid decisions made by management. It’s stupid to blame our last 8 years on one player. It’s a team sport and I dare say he’s been consistently one of our better players in the last 8 years. You put any half in the comp in our team I still don’t think we make the finals in the last 8 years. Also what’s with these comments saying he doesn’t have a killer instinct? When this year have we been that close to winning a game?

We would be absolutely stupid to get rid of brooks! We get Hastings either way, no need to give them anyone, if we are going to get Hastings, happy to send them mybe.

Also people need to stop suggest moving Laurie to 6. He’s our fullback for the future and he’s way too small to be depending at 6. Just because good players are available doesn’t mean we need them in our squad! We have a fullback and we have halves. What we need is a strike winger or center. Damaging front rower bonus if it’s a ball playing lock.

That’s fine you think that, but when you compare his performances to other players in clutch moments, they’re not there. And you ask when this year we’ve been that close? How about last weekend against Warriors. He couldn’t get it done in the last 10 minutes. What about vs Souths? Couldn’t get it done! How about against NQ? Couldn’t get it done.

He’s fast and he’s skilful and he is a good defender. But if the game is on the line he’s not the guy that’s going to win the game for you. He’s not a winner and you need your halfback to be a winner.

Not saying he doesn't have areas to improve nor that he has had bad moments but I don't think it's a one-man game and if the others aren't up to it why is it one person's fault.
He did what he could in the last game - he and Mmbye had good games. The fault lies with others for leaking the points that put us behind and also for not being able to pass as needed when we had opportunities in the last few minutes.

I don’t think it’s a one man game either, but your half needs to take control when the game is on the line. It’s something he can’t do.

Since we're rarely ever in games it doesn't matter.

For those fantasizing about a Canberra move it is amusing. Willing it to happen won't make it so but please keep up the entertainment. It's quiet today.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on brad Arthur’s son? He’s of contract end of 2022 and looks the goods in reserve grade and didn’t look out of place in FG. With parra and Moses inking a new deal will be interesting to see what he opts to do for a new contract

Really? Marina Go and some of Australia's leading players were offended. You only have to visit the wards where netballers have had their knees reconstructed to appreciate what a tough game it is to play. I did not appreciate the comment. Ladies in my family play netball. How many fathers on this forum have daughters playing? Ricky has lost it lately.

It’s hard to tell with these young blokes, u look at Cleary who’s killing it then u look at flannigan (however it’s spelt) and he’s struggling! Having a big name last name can work for u or really go against you. He’s a big body like douhli aswell by the looks of it

I think Ricky only mentioned netball in terms of non-contact, not in terms of athleticism or toughness. Netball is the most non-contact ball sport going around.

can certainly play but he grew up training with that side. as long as Brad is there he'll be there. if there's anyone that'll be moved on to accommodate him in the next few years, it's Dylan Brown. BA will be very patient with Jakob I think, won't be a first grade regular until he's 22 or so.

The thing is.. we haven't made it to the finals with Brooks.. so what are the big occasions? Playing at Leichardt oval after losing 3-5 games in a row and needing to desperately needing to win 1?

Probably a wise move too from BA. He definitely has the potential. I wouldn’t think he would leave parra but the way the game is going with coaches being sacked and players injured and suspended never know really ay lol

I get what you are saying, you may have some people say its a "team game".

But really, Brooks over the last few weeks has been great IMO, if he keeps it up then good on him.

I thought Brooks was good on the weekend but we needed someone to step up in the final 10 mins and noone did.
