Does anyone in the know actually know if brooks is actually being shopped to the raiders?

Anyone in the know aren’t on here often

And the ones that are don’t wait to be asked.

A good mate of mine is Hynes' cousin and advised he's very unlikely to end up at Broncos despite all the media speculation about them being the front runners. Apparently after magic round he met with Kevvy and Kevvy completely dropped the ball trying to entice him to join.

Hynes asked Kevvy "If I join Broncos where do you see me in 5 years and what type of footballer can you help me become?" Kevvy apparently replied "Um ahhh I dunno tbh".

If Brooks, Mbye and Walters are all released, what are we doing with all the money? Can't spend the $700k in the kitty currently.

Agree and that's why I think its a great opportunity to target a Top line player that we desperately need to use some of this money. Even if we have to pay overs it will help cover a spot we need covered, help attract other quality players, help marketing and memberships and most of all give us fans something to smile about..
Don't want to see us get to the deadline and say "oh well we might just upgrade another player in the club to use money"... Pretty sure if we got a big named player it would only be for a positive outcome for everyone involved.

Agree but would be reasonably sure they are looking, but will they pay the money to get them?

That's what scares me a little - We look and find the player but don't feel comfortable paying over (like we have too) because we have been burnt with Packer, Reynolds and Mbye in the past.. They don't need to get 3 but at least 1 to start the domino effect.

Maybe but Andrew Johns won 2 premierships. I reckon plenty of dud halfbacks have won premierships as well.

Plus we aren't a team winning the premiership soon unless we somehow unearth a couple of stars.

So you don't need what you've stated here. It's illogical and doesn't stand up to reality.

I'm not stating if we can get better than Brooks don't do it. The illogical arguments though aren't helpful.

I’m not blaming Brooks for the failings of the team at all, but it’s just my opinion that he doesn’t rise to big occasions.

The thing is.. we haven't made it to the finals with Brooks.. so what are the big occasions? Playing at Leichardt oval after losing 3-5 games in a row and needing to desperately needing to win 1?

Big occasions as in 10 to go, game on the line etc.

I get what you are saying, you may have some people say its a "team game".

But really, Brooks over the last few weeks has been great IMO, if he keeps it up then good on him.

I thought Brooks was good on the weekend but we needed someone to step up in the final 10 mins and noone did.

Even this is a little unfair. He saw an opportunity and gave quick early ball to the right area. The other players stuffed it.

Doesn't surprise me. I've never rated Kevvy as a coach. Anyone could have coached that Maroons team to success which is why he looks so out of his depth at the Broncos

Apparently he came across as real nuff that offered no insight into the clubs direction and how Hynes could help them get there.

If Brooks leaves and i dont expect him too then we could look at Hynes to play 5/8. Hastings at halfback and Douehi in the centres with Gildart the other centre.

If the Raiders want Brooks we will take Hodgson for a couple of years while Simpkin develops

Hynes played 6 for Manly u20s a few years back so equally useful at both FB or 6. I'd potentially play him as a 6 at Tigers.

that lines up Brisbane, Titans, Dogs and now the Dragons. Once again, he's not for us. Laurie our long term 1, Doueihi (yes I know he's currently in the centres) is our long term 6, and it looks as if Madge is going to persist with Brooks for the long haul.

I should confess I don't have a real estate mate in Belconnen and I have no idea whether Brooks is looking for an apartment in Barton although it would be a nice place to live. There was so much rubbish being touted I felt like I was missing out. So I added my unsubstantiated rumour to appease my ego. Please forgive me.

Makes perfect sense.
Hastings, Hynes, Hodgson and, to a lesser extent, Gildart make us a whole lot better.

For all the whinging about our poor defence **there is no better half in the competition than Brooks.** I reckon he saves at least two tries a game. I swear to god I'm sure some don't watch other teams and just want to throw money at any name that is spewed up.

Hynes is not the right fit for us right now IMO. Laurie and Doueihi are our 2 best attacking players and should be in the 1 and 6 IMO.

If we want a centre, I’d rather get a specialist there.
