Ricky is not having a good fortnight. His comment about netball was very wrong. I like George Williams as a player and this is a sad way to end his days at the Raiders.


I found his comment about netball rather amusing - the only ones offended were netball australia cronies and the constant stream of woke influencers who are offended by everything.

I think Ricky only mentioned netball in terms of non-contact, not in terms of athleticism or toughness. Netball is the most non-contact ball sport going around.

He was using it as a condescending comparison saying that if he can't have tough conversations with his players he may as well coach netball.

His comment was condescending and outdated. Even worse no one pulled him up on it when they were said. Liz Ellis and Anne Sargeant who I admire both took exception.

For all the whinging about our poor defence **there is no better half in the competition than Brooks.** I reckon he saves at least two tries a game. I swear to god I'm sure some don't watch other teams and just want to throw money at any name that is spewed up.

A mate of mine who is a real estate agent in Belconnen reckons that Brooks has been inquiring about apartments in Barton - one of the classy suburbs of Canberra. Seems as though Brooks to Canberra may have legs.

Honestly, I would hate if Brooks left to Canberra, or regardless of that all together.

We're stuck with him and I dont see us moving him on.

Get a halves coach in ASAP to smash it into his head that he needs to be the best player on field.

Personally for whatever reason i think Brooks has hit his ceiling here,its like his comfortable job where he just turns up and gets paid but it doesnt challenge him. If he goes to the raiders i think he'll do well and good luck to him if thats the case. If he stays here i think the next 4 yrs will be rinse and repeat something has to give.

Really? Marina Go and some of Australia's leading players were offended. You only have to visit the wards where netballers have had their knees reconstructed to appreciate what a tough game it is to play. I did not appreciate the comment. Ladies in my family play netball. How many fathers on this forum have daughters playing? Ricky has lost it lately.

It was an inappropriate and just plain dumb comment by Stuart. He probably offended a large portion of the Rugby League supporters.

Look , I'm one of his harshest critics but that doesn't mean I don't think he's got talent.
Going to Canberra would most likely benefit him as he'd be working directly with a great former half in Stuart.
I think we need a change from him just as much as he needs one from us.

Totally agree. I've become a huge netball fan. I admire these girls for their athleticism, toughness and outstanding sportsmanship.

We have the forwards, and more coming through. Our halves the last 2 wks have looked good, and with Hastings coming, will look better.Doeihi looks good at centre and at 5/8 , but centre at the moment gives us a better balanced side.
We now have to pray that Hartigan can pull a rabbit out of his hat, and sign 3 attacking backs with speed an strike ability'.
We will never be a good side unless we can match the good sides in the backs. Blind Freddie and every commentator, has said thats our weakness.

I think Madge should be checking these younger halves out, Madden et al. I actually think Daine Laurie could be our 6 in time. Brooks has had enough time to prove himself. He has gotten a lot better but how much more time does he get? We need a smart footballer in the halves. Our strength is in our edges. We didnt get a chance to show that last week. Someone needs to be able to step up and own the game when that happens

Mbye is average at his best, and thats not often. Lot,s are bagging Brooks, but as our forwards have improved so has he. Definitly one of our best the last 2 wks. This step up and own the game stuff, is fairy floss crap, often quoted but rubbish. Name me one half not in the top 4 who owns the game ? why ? because it's hard to own the game when your carrying a backline as bad as ours.

I definitely think Doueihi can own a game. Didn't he get moved to the centres for trying to do too much?

Brooks has been too passive this season. He deferred to Mbye in the final 20 there last week when really he should have been shovelling ball to AD and Luc.

Agree and that's why I think its a great opportunity to target a Top line player that we desperately need to use some of this money. Even if we have to pay overs it will help cover a spot we need covered, help attract other quality players, help marketing and memberships and most of all give us fans something to smile about..
Don't want to see us get to the deadline and say "oh well we might just upgrade another player in the club to use money"... Pretty sure if we got a big named player it would only be for a positive outcome for everyone involved.

Brooks isn’t getting released. Mbye seems 50/50. And Walters would be on minimum contract. The only decent amount of cash that we can definitely re-invest will be Packers.

I can only think Hartigan is looking for young talent in NSW,QLD, NZ, and maybe more buys from super league. It's a hard balance, if he throws big overs money and they don't perform he will be crucified. There's not much out there , and about 5 cashed up clubs in the market.

Agree but would be reasonably sure they are looking, but will they pay the money to get them?
