Keep an eye on Franklin Pele for the sharks this afternoon. Contracted until 2022 but we’ve been chasing hard and offering big coin. I don’t know much about him but I suppose we get a chance to have a look at him this afternoon

Absolute mountain of a player

The NRL App has Pele as 0kg and 0cm. He's not big enough if that's the case.

They're about 120kg off he's a monster

20 years old. 6ft2 and 125kg prop

If you believe so, sharks had to limit his gym days in the pre season because he was putting on too much muscle

DWZ is too expensive.

I'm still hoping Allan Fitzgibbon is going to be a break out star.

He's improving scoring tries but will need to improve defensive aspect if his game to become a regular FG player his young and has time on his side.

Unlike the defensive star we currently have on the wing....

Story in the paper today we signed Brett Kimmorley for pathways and development, also to help with the halves, and signed Matt Betsey (head of cricket academy) to help him out.
Will help us out a lot I think, they also referenced former Campbelltown juniors, so maybe looking to do more out that way

Do you have a copy of this article mate ?

A NOD TO TIGERS’ FUTURE

The Wests Tigers are on the verge of signing former champion halfback Brett ‘Noddy’ Kimmorley to head up their pathways and junior development.

They hope it will ensure the next Campbelltown juniors of the calibre of James Tedesco, Jarryd Hayne and Israel Folau are captured and kept in their system.

The former NSW Blues and Kangaroos playmaker already has a tremendous knowledge of the game’s best young players through his coaching of emerging Blues for the NSWRL.

“We’ve refocused our strategy over the last couple of years,” Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said. “That means investing in pathways with the acquisition of someone like Noddy.

“He’s got a great reputation in the game and he’ll be outstanding.

“Imagine him working with young halves when we set up our academy.

“To have him talking to kids and their parents will be invaluable.”

The Wests Tigers have also signed one of Australian cricket’s top development strategists to work alongside Kimmorley.

Matt Betsey headed up cricket’s top coaching academy and has overseen the growth and progress of many youngsters now playing Sheffield Shield and Test cricket.

“These appointments are as much about retention as development,” Pascoe said. “We’re going along well. Our reserve grade side is sitting second, our 21’s are running first, our sponsorship and memberships are at record levels.

“Financially our balance sheet was minus $7 million — now it’s positive. This is why we can now go and invest in people like Noddy and Matt in such crucial roles.”

Friday night’s win over St George Illawarra has kept alive the Tigers’ hopes of playing finals football for the first time in 10 years.

Must of been hard for Buzz to write this article.... Just shows the leaps we have taken over the last 2 years..
We have a great junior system in place and a new COE on its way... I can see how the club is looking at building from the ground up and putting in the right people to identify the top juniors in our ranks and keeping them.. Our lower grades are all going very well and its exciting times ahead and thats why we need to keep with Madge and Hartigan..

Went out to Lidcombe yesterday, young Fitzgibbon has improved out of sight from the start of the season. If he keeps improving at this rate he might be ready next season. Pace to burn and seems to be a real character

How was Simpkin ?

Mate the Flegg side was the one to get excited about, their structure in both defence and attack was top notch and everything they do is at speed. Ogedon..excuse my spelling if I got it wrong, is a class above this age group. Anyway they were clinical in their execution.

If you get a chance, it’s a great day out at Lidcombe. Beer is pub price or better, sausage sizzle and just a fun day. Madge was standing near me in the crowd along with most of the Dragon top grade who were cheering on De belin. It was just like going to a bush game.

What’s it cost to go in and watch mate? I might have to get the kids down to watch the next game there ?

Sorry for the delay getting back to you..been out, anyway 10 for a adult 5 for a pensioner and not sure about kids, guess it would be free or 5 bucks. Kids allowed on the field at half time. Worth doing if you get a chance

Pretty sure all matches at Lidcombe are free for all WT members. It has been the past 2 weeks. I'd upload the Magpies tweets but you can't do that on here it seems

Weidler is running a story that Toby Rudolph would have stayed at the Sharks for considerably less had the Club taken up John Morris' earlier recommendation to sign him.

Also there is the rumour that George Williams is not so homesick for Canberra or Ricky. Maybe he will find a new home in the NRL?

Just looking ahead..... we have 22 players now signed for next season (includes Gildart and the COs on JTJ and Joey).
Of those coming off contract this year I would look at re-signing only Liddle, Mikaele and Seyfarth. Let go of Walters, MCK, Cini, Amone, Packer.

Amone? Why?

Amone has played good games in reggies had one short stint against St George should get more game time over the coming weeks then we can form an opinion

I agree that we haven't seen anything of him at the top level, and be very happy if he proves me wrong, however my thought on Amone was that we are reasonably well covered for props/middles (assuming resigning of Mikaele and Seyfarth) with Tamou, Twal, Uto, Musgrove, Offa as well, plus some good young guys in reggies that are coming through.
Considering that we may have only 4-5 spots, as I mentioned, available to buy in players, if we were to use one spot for a middle we should be looking at a top flight, gun middle and I am not sure Amone is that guy. Otherwise perhaps we should be using those spots for at least one more edge forward and a few better backs.

You do understand there's a whole reserve grade side that needs middles as well yeah?
