Did you see his head last night?

Yes.
"I don't want the guy with the mangled head, I want the guy that gave him the mangled head and didn't get sent off."

I think that is a quote from the Magnificent NRL Seven's

He puts his head where Garner wouldn’t dip his toe. That’s a footy player.

He is a good player who always gives 100% and competes for everything. We went with Tamou who may not be as good in effort and commitment but he offers a lot more leadership. Talking, mentoring etc.

If Finucane was 25, was an obvious leader and we didn't have Tamou, then maybe $750 would be justified. I am also very concerned that the years of playing without regard for his body will take a toll and his chances of playing at his current level for 2 years are not great.

Like most players, there is a price and length of contract where he would be a great buy.

The question is, do people want Finucane for 800k? Because that's what he's reported to be asking for.

750K per year for 2 years would be good, maybe with a club option. Instant credibility with good players and a culture shift. 100% do it.

Half that, may get him Aloiai grass cutting job.

Cannot for the life of me, see everyone's fascination.

Watching duds at WT for too long mate, ultra consistent, tough, a guy that others want to play with. Tigers always have guys who do the fancy stuff but lack guys like Finucane. He’s a Gareth Ellis.

Your missing the point. 1 player doesn’t shift a culture. If you can get that player for 500k then you have the added ability to include more players into the fold. But forking out 3/4 of a mill on arguably a very good player but siting at his absolute peak and set to decline. Not sure it is a smart move.

I know Finucane is a very good player, but I think he is becoming damaged goods.
His body has taken a lot of heavy knocks over the years.
I’d prefer to develop Alex Seafarth who’s on a quarter of that money.

I don’t know how you could know that. You may be right but I’m still seeing him lead a pretty darn good side. Seyfarth looks good but I’d rather have a guy like Finucane to educate him.

Seyfarth appears to be our next lock. We don't need Finucane and from what we know about Seyfarth, he sets very high standards for his own training which I'm sure other players will note. In amongst the disaster yesterday that was our NSW Cup team, young Daniel Sykes came on and started to hit very hard in defence. You could see he has the drive and competitive spirit Gould often refers to in commentary. Why block our good young players with senior players at the backend of their careers?

Did Roosters need Cronk at the back end of his career when they had Pearce?

Correct that is why I would shy away from him, he’s had plenty of head knocks over the years.

I think in Doueihi, Tamou , Twal and Finucane
, maybe even add Laurie, there’s a group of players to build your culture around. If (and this is my main argument for it) another big name is attracted by the Finucane signature, now you’re rolling.

Ask the Roosters. We don't need Finucane. Let him get his retirement payday elsewhere. Those days should be over at WTs.

I don’t think you have anything to worry about. His valued at the Storm and his potential replacement in the cheese is looking to move on. So I’d say his a lock to resign for a couple of years with the Storm on about 500k a season.

No I’m not saying that. And I’m not disagreeing with you in signing him, just your price point.
My thoughts are though, is he an 80min player?
Is he suited to lock in the new game?
Is he more suited to prop?
Is he robust enough to play prop for us?

Now in answering consider that we don’t have a Jessy Bromwich, Welsh or Asofa Solomona taking the majority of the big prop work for us.
We’d probably be looking at a starting middle 3 of Twal, Joffa and Finucane next year if we were to manage to sign him.

Sad reality is tigers will need to pay overs to land a few big fish. I get we were burnt badly last time but we just caught rotten fish. My opinion is Finucane would come in with Twal, Joffa, Stef, Tuilagi and Tamou (not sure what’s going on with Musgrove) and maybe one other top line second rower would follow Finucane. Get Luciano a bit fitter and that’s a forward pack. Seyfarth has been solid too.

Just a slight change of program.

Did anyone see the Isaako segment on the Sunday Footy Show?
It was sad to say the least, but it really highlighted how much his struggled mentally with his fathers cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing.
Sounds like his still is dealing with it.

Goes to explain a little bit about his playing form at the moment.

Watching duds at WT for too long mate, ultra consistent, tough, a guy that others want to play with. Tigers always have guys who do the fancy stuff but lack guys like Finucane. He’s a Gareth Ellis.

Now you are joking, he is not fit to lace Ellis's boots up.
