So the Dogs clearly want DWZ off their books, my gut tells me the reason why we didn’t get him was he didn’t want to come to us, not that we couldn’t strike a deal….

The story was Canterbury and Wests tigers agreed in terms of chip in but DWZ thought he was worth more.

Think what happened is both clubs worked out who paid what of his +$800k for the remaining 1.5 years of his contract,but DWZs manager wanted a further year at that same rate on top of all that
If the warriors are silly enuff to come to that party,they/ll be paying a significant premium for an average player over the term of his contract...and serious question marks on "average" based on his recent performances
Im happy with Ken,but we still need a speedy centre to partner Giddart

HSS was the best player from the Raiders Flegg winning team in 2019. They have lots of centres thpugh so prob looking for opportunity esp given injury as has Croker, Kris, Scoot, Timoko and its looking like Charnze in front of him. Can play centre, wing and played fb in the flegg gf in 2019. Would offer good utility value and quality depth

Croker’s done, Kris is only fresh. Scott is a drop kick, If he’s a good player he’d back himself to make it in Canberra in my opinion

He was Flegg player of the season 2 years ago. Last year was a write off for all juniors. He's been injured to start the year.

If I were to compare him to a current NRL player I'd say Gutho. Not super fast but not slow, just an a solid athlete with a good footy brain and can play anywhere 1-6. Mostly played as a fullback

Fair assessment I think.
The kid has a lot of footy infront of him thats for sure, would be a nice addition that will put pressure on our backline for next year if true.

Like how we are building the squad atm, sure isn’t fast as we would like but at least we aren’t going all in on retirement funds.

We couldn't agree to terms with dwz.
We had him for 1.5 years but he wanted longer and too much money... We walked away.

Dont rule out Gould coming in at the last minute to get his old Panthers mate DWZ to the Warriors. Promised him more so he rejected our offer.

Smith-Shields has had decent wraps on him for years. can play, just stuck behind a few players at Canberra. it makes sense for us to be looking at him. he's far better than Talau and is stronger defensively than Roberts.

I certainly hope it won’t. He won’t advance the recruitment. It would be a meh signing if it ever happened.

He's done little at Newcastle in the last couple of years. Had a good season in 2019, but was injury riddled the year before and has missed a few games this year also. Plus he'll be 33 if he were to join us next year. He's not getting any better, if anything I'd back Brooks over him as he's shown improvement in the last month.

The point is, we didn't get him and we got a player that wants to be here and is a better winger.
