Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Saw the rumor mill had us bidding for Pearce and a couple, of blokes on here backed that as a good idea, well its a hard no from me.
Pearce has had numerous opportunities to sign with us, and has always gone the opposite way, and now that his career is almost over, his contract is only a fraction of what it used to be and he is only getting signed on one year contracts, now he is being touted as a signing for the tigers.
Brooks is our half back, and he is playing well, the club has already signed Madden as his heir apparent and we have decent options coming through in Flegg and SG Ball, we don't need him.
Besides what would it say about the standards of this club, or our future direction, what sort of club are we that we would find it acceptable to be considered a last chance option for aging footballers with no other options.
Ignore the legacy crap, just like Mitch did. Wayne was a true champion and a Balmain legend........but not a Wests one and certainly not one for the West Tigers.

The way we got rolled up the middle against the eels, theres a case for more size in the front row to start.
Id be ok with at least one of Mikalae,Stefano or Musgrave to replace Twal or Tamou...and another to come on after 20 mins.
There were mitigating circumstances, but we just got steamrolled
Tamou mite be a no 14 these days, and Twal mite be better value at 13 than Joffa who really hasnt set the world on fire..

Not a bad idea, Tamou has shown speed and ability with the ball when given space.

Yep, they were - I'll have to watch it again but Opacic was all over Talau like a cheap suit! If he wasn't offside all night then he was single-minded in hitting his target TT

Tyrone Peachey anyone? Unwanted by the Titans according to him.

He's a game breaker. Depends on what the deal was. We don't have anyone like him in the team.

I know Musgrove has been injured, but he can't be to far away from returning?

Some have said he is no good, but I think he provides the intimidating mongrel we lack atm?

It depends on the day
Sometimes he is Hot and not so on other outings
Another player with ability who doesnt push himself consistently enough

I think Blore should get more time as others have said and i think Tualagi should start to get some time as well. I think Tamou is done, he doesnt make yardage at all. Would prefer stefano or Jo starting prop with Seyfarth at 13. Then have a bench of Amone, Stefano/jo, Blore/Garner and Simpkin/tualagi.

I think Tamou still has something to offer, but would love to see Seyfarth starting. I think his link work at 13 has been really impressive and our attack looks its best while he is on as he is pushing Brooks wider of the ruck and that is improving Brooks' game as well.

I like the comment about AS, the boy has a good work ethic and plenty of aggression.
He just needs to know the threshold and cut out the penalties and 6 more infringements
Will be our own Nathan Brown V2

Someone like peachy is the answer to our puzzle IMHO. A proper utility that can slot in at lock and backline and is actually hard to tackle and has a passing game. We don't need any more forwards. We have too many as it is.

You make a great point. Like Joey Leulia, I just remember him tearing us apart on numerous occasions. But things might change if they came here!

All mail I've seen/heard suggests it was Pearce's team that contacted Tigers and nothing yet suggests Tigers are keen on the idea. Wouldn't get too worked up about it just yet.

Peachey at 13 for us, with the ability to play 6, 3 and 4 if a player goes down with injury during a game, depends on dollars though

The two eels centres had it all over ours, once they spread it we’re in all sorts.

it is by far our weakest position. I haven't seen enough of Gildart to make a call on how he is defensively, but if he and say a Kepaoa, Pauga, Ogden or even a Smith-Shields can come in and hold the edges together, we'll go a long way towards making the 8 next year.

Talau can defend but is far too slow for the position and Roberts has never been strong enough defensively for my liking. as much as I love him, Doueihi was hopeless defensively on an edge last week as well. we need to fix it if we're going to do anything of note in the next few years.

I watched the game again and Tamou was very good. He’s quick off the line, stops them dead and he chases more than most. He also makes plenty of PCM. Joffa is good at 13 but Seyfarth offers more in attack as you said. I don’t think we lost it in the forward TBH. The two eels centres had it all over ours, once they spread it we’re in all sorts. I think the key though, just about every time we started to look like doing something with the ball we stuffed up, whereas they have someone to either chip it, put someone through a hole or read and run through. We just don’t give ourselves that opportunity. It all comes down to silly errors, simple as that. Ref didn’t help either.

Agree don’t think it was lost in the forwards I was live at game and we seemed to match them in field position down the middle

We were crushed in the forwards ......the problem is the effects of that are seen out wide because the defence is forced to compact more and more to tighten the ruck

Only reason it looked that way was because of momentum and ridiculous 6 against which tired the defence out. It was more caused by the ref than it was being outmatched. The limited sets we did get our forwards put huge dents in the Parramatta line, whereas pathetic slimers were making metres in broken play

I refuse to put Parramatta on a pedestal. They're dead-set gronks

I agree However he needs to intimidate without the ball too. That game against Manly at BankWest was far from intimidating

And they beat us by 28 ...so it makes us ......

Parra smashed us up the guts ...thats the facts unfortunately
