What's the chance we get used as leverage for TPJ to get to the Roosters?

Now we need middles that can make a break, or at least make a dent, in attack. Watching most of our guys trot up to the defence and get pushed backwards is painful to see. At the moment Tamou, Twal, Offa and even Blore are too often not getting us a roll on and others like Mikaele, Uto aren't generally getting enough time to have impact (and often have been a little inconsistent as well).

Yeah, I didn't like Freddie's comments. TPJ is obviously a little shocked at being pushed out of a club he really wants to stay at.

Hopefully if we land him he comes here with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove.

Watching that interview the guy is straight up. ] He's done some really dumb things on and off field but he's honest about it and I admire that. Almost the exact opposite of Ryan Matterson.

Yep, what a knob. Would be almost worth seeing NSW lose this year's series to accelerate the sacking of Fittler.
Not sure what he saw wrong in what TPJ said in that interview.

If Madge thinks Tpj is what we need than he is more dillusional than I thought. The guy is a myth. He is ill disciplined ,lazy and goes missing when counted on. We need guys that work hard with effort on effort 100% of the time. Players like Seyfarth even though he is still a work in progress. What is the fascination with bone heads and Madge. I hope this is just paper talk.


Disagree totally. Tigers have always had reliable workers and it has got us nowhere. Players like Twal, Tamou, Seyfarth, Ava, Suaso Sue, Garner, Woods, etc etc etc. We have always needed and still need an impact forward and TPJ definitely has that potential, as does IMO Stef, Mikaele and maybe Amone. Good pack has a combination.

All those guys with the exception of Woods in his prime ***are just role players.*** If we’re signing TPJ as our pack leader I’m afraid it’s another poor decision. The fact he’s already likely suspended for a crusher should be a pretty good indicator.

You hit the nail on the head. ALL of our pack, now and historically could be described as "role players". TPJ is not being signed as a pack leader. He is being signed to hit an edge hard, rip and tear and get an offload away, He is a potential impact second rower that can do damage that we have not had before or since Ellis.

I was of the opinion that he was a middle forward and could not understand the insistence to continue to play him out wide.
However he is very mobile and having him on an edge takes out the brain explosion defensive plays as he can’t players up for big hits. Have to say, I’m happy to change my opinion I feel he is a good edge player, good speed for a forward and really good ball skills. Will complement Lucy nicely on the other side if this all happens to go ahead.

That’ll be our second mid year recruit to verse a team twice in a row after Maumalo, should TPJ arrive before the Souths game in 2 weeks time (bye week for every club next week)

Weird hey; it's happened a few times recently as well. Moses Mbye did it when he joined us, played the Titans two rounds in a row. There was someone else last year too, I can't exactly recall who.

Saw the rumor mill had us bidding for Pearce and a couple, of blokes on here backed that as a good idea, well its a hard no from me.
Pearce has had numerous opportunities to sign with us, and has always gone the opposite way, and now that his career is almost over, his contract is only a fraction of what it used to be and he is only getting signed on one year contracts, now he is being touted as a signing for the tigers.
Brooks is our half back, and he is playing well, the club has already signed Madden as his heir apparent and we have decent options coming through in Flegg and SG Ball, we don't need him.
Besides what would it say about the standards of this club, or our future direction,what sort of club are we that we would find it acceptable to be considered a last chance option for aging footballers with no other options.
Ignore the legacy crap, just like Mitch did. Wayne was a true champion and a Balmain legend........but not a Wests one and certainly not one for the West Tigers.

I suspect New Zealand are freeing their cap and will make Mitchell an offer because they need that structure and a first grade halfback. It will either be Mitchell or Shawn Johnson returning.

A part of me would love Mitchell to partner with Brooks. Brooks could really use someone to work with him in the halves and he and Mitchell both play a similar game as I see it. It would have to be a chickenfeed deal with a coaching assistant job for later on. Won't happen.

South's, well there may be a possibility there. They have lost a massive talent in Adam Reynolds, I never understood why he was always on the outer there. Mitchell signing for a year then going working with the halves, why it would be the best revenge against Easts wouldn't it 🙂

Can’t for the life of me fathom why some thinks this is a bad move. He has been in good form of late.

He is an instant uplift on our backrow. He also becomes a creative player we have been crying out for years.

Brooks, Laurie and Liddle running off him will create nightmares for our opponents. He starts after the bye and our end to the season could be a real positive one (we have a good draw to end on).

If this comes off I will be actually excited for once about one of our recruits.

We have real issues in defence and his current team gets lapped by 50 every other week.

I don’t think anyone would look good in defence in that Broncos side. Maybe he’s part of the problem, maybe he’s not.

As I’ve said before I’d prefer a Finucane type, but TPJ does offer X factor and an offload which we’re missing.

So is he coming to play edge ? Is that correct ? Or middle ?

Fair enough . Does that mean Garner to the bench ? I actually think a Garner , Blore Uto , seyfarth bench offers a bit of flexibility and strike .


Yeah I like that bench. LL can get a rest then as well. Garner covers the backs as well.

Kevie's official press conference was very uncomfortable to watch. He's looks a shattered man and I'd be surprised if he lasts too long.

Just shows the difference between a rookie coach and experience coach..
When we were at rock bottom Madge stood up for the club and players in the media and didn't give them anything. Walters is a media dream at the moment as doesn't hold back when he needs to and don't see him staying long-term there.
TPJ just needs a change and doesn't matter where he goes he will kill it.

I'm not sure TPJ is a Roosters style player. I'm sure if they want him they'll get him, but not sure if their coach would be a fan.
