Forget the big name players we need to read the tea leaves. We have signed Ofehengaue, Luciano, Blore, Laurie, Musgrove, Amone, Simpkin, Douihei, Maumalo, Utoikamanu, Tamou, Kepoa, Jet, BJ and now Hastings, Gildart.

To be honest it’s not a bad list BJ, Jet, Tamou are the three that have not worked out. I’ll reserve Judgement on Kepoa and Musgrove.
The majority of players signed by the current management have been good. The offset in that time we have lost Aloai, Matterson, Corey Thompson. Two forces their way out which is the way it works at struggling clubs.

Where we have struggled is a lack of pathways and no one of note coming through our own systems. Let’s hope Tuilagi, Tuki Simpkins, Tumeth, Kei, Ogden, Fuamtimo, Tuifua,Scolari etc come through strongly.

It is not a bad list?
Tamou, Kepoa, Jet, BJ, Hastings, Gildart all would not get another club play them in firsts in Aus.

Big Joe O admitted absolutely no one was interested in except us...not one club.

Luciano would not start for anyone else with his D.

Amone, big Maumolo...most clubs have squad players at that level. It is not like they are stand outs.

Mugrove has had two decent NRL games in five years...

Our young players may or may not make 'the leap'. Laurie has been good, but we are talking about maybe the 12th best FB in the game. Jake and Tuki may be great...but yet to really stand out in state cup.

I have hope, but I do think a lot of us here overrate our roster. We are third last for a reason.

I agree and have stated before we have the second worst roster in the comp. the players we signed are actually the better prospects. That’s the issue the cupboard was bare and cap was poorly managed. Now we can’t attract players youth the only way.

Looks like a wooden spoon roster if I’ve ever seen one

At the risk of sounding like a negative nellie I think we are still a chance to get it this year...

Getting it this year would surprise me, next year however I’d be surprised if we didn’t get it.

I don’t see anyone being anywhere near as bad us next season

We play the dogs twice …

Dogs will beat us once and possibly twice. We are that bad at the moment.

If reports are true they'll have Pangai by then too, and his suspension will be over.

Exactly, they roll us twice and we are in deep poo.

Not saying it going to happen or even likely to happen, just that we are a chance..

We don't have a great track record against dogs late in the season lol

Issac Liu official to Titans

Suua to Saints done

TPJ to Dogs imminent...

Unless a club releases a big name player to us, 2022 is looking barren as there are no players left who are much better than we have.

Except Finucane...so it seems all or nothing with him now.

Well in saying that. He has 2 choices. Us or Melbourne and maybe a loss of about 600k over 3 years.
Maybe they will help him decide?
I reckon the club would be willing to sign him for 600k for 3 years, no more. Melbourne I reckon would be hard pressed being able to fit him in for 450k no less. Of course there’s always the Knights, Sharks or Cowboys so he may still get the deal he is after.

The Dragons wanted us to pay 700-750k of his salary if they signed him. It's one thing to try let him go, but if we're still paying 700k it's not worth it. Their offer wasn't serious and well under market value.

Im coming around to Finucane and hope we get him. I agree that I'd offer $600K over 3 which is probably one year too many but I think he is the kind of guy to take that risk. Unlike Tamou (who I was happy with), Finucane is still smashing it right now.

Surely if Dragons sign Sua and Dogs sell the farm to get TPJ, we would have to be in the box seat if he leaves Storms.

My thoughts as well. Not sure if cowboys are even an option. Sharks would unsettle some of their recent recruits if they signed him. Newcastle would be about the only other pick. But they are going after Gagai and unless Klemmer moves on I can’t see them needing a Finucane, they certainly wouldn’t be offering him the farm. Frizzle is their Finucane signing coupled with Safiti, Barnett, and Klemmer they are pretty rounded out for experience.
However I do recall a comment Paul Kent made re buying Frizzle, that what they were after and what they got with him are two different things.
They wanted / needed a talking directing leader for their forwards. And Frizell is a tuck it under the arm and follow my lead kind of leader, really quiet spoken bloke apparently so. The may still go after Finucane if they need him.

I think the smoky is the Sharks.. There new coach Fitz is the assistant for NSW and he would be in the ear of Finucane every day.... We are the only club that takes 10+ tears to rebuild and I don't feel confident we will in the next 3 years either..

We need some good news urgently as a fan base...
Even Tigers news in general has been very quite of late from them.

Says it here, came down to Sydney and started with WT through the Keebra connection.

According to this we are in a ‘similar position to that of the cowboys that are mentioned to of offered Finucane a 2 year deal.
Wonder whether the media are making this up or if our clubs doing a really good job or keeping the offical word hush.

You mean like when JT pushed Farah out, and we paid $700k for Farah to play at souths, whilst we had ET and Rankin sharing the hooking, with the star recruit Ballin injured for 2 years

No Thanks - good guy etc but **we need to change the previous policy of taking players rapidly approaching their "Best Before" Date.**

Anyone know Vaughn player manager?

Why? Do you really think the NRL would register a new contract for Vaughn?

Yep he just has to serve his 8 game ban

He won’t get a new contract registered until at least his current, now torn up, contract is complete. At that time he’ll have to serve his 8 match ban. Even then I think his time in the NRL is done.

he can sign a contract for next year?

You can imagine the outcry from the public if he did. His best bet is to go OS.

I don't think there will be much of an outcry, he will earn much less than he was going to.

This is the second time. Both times he tried to cover it up and to induce others to lie for him. People will remember.

I'd put money on him having a new club in 2022

I reckon he will be playing semi finals this year.

I do too but I wouldn't put money on that outcome lol
