‘Nofa is slow’ seems to be one of the biggest myths on here I’ve ever heard

I don’t think he’s JAC, but I can’t recall the guy ever getting run down, has scored plenty of tries from 20+ out

we need to sign another winger. Kepaoa has shown that he's far better at centre, Talau is slower than a wet week and we all know about Nofoaluma. Isaac Lumelume would be one I'd be looking at. well and truly down the pecking order at Melbourne and a far better option than what we have in our top 30 right now besides Maumalo. yes we have Fitzgibbon and Gebbie on the books but both of them are a long way away from being NRL standard.

I am sorry we did not get Pengai, but obviously the club set it's limits on his value, as it should. We do have a very promising forward pack, that may eventually be a very good pack,but our biggest problem is exactly what your getting at,
our lack of speed;;;; Outside of Brooks and a still learning Laurie, we are too slow compaired to other sides. Gildart may add some attacking flair, and Hastings will help, but we need at least another three fast backs to be competative.

M'Bye, Liddle and Roberts are pretty quick in their own right, but I do agree with you. Nofoaluma isn't quick at all, Doueihi isn't either and we're about to sign Jackson Hastings as a 6, who is incredibly slow. Gildart looks reasonably quick, but apart from him and Laurie, our first choice back 5 next year looks slow as. I don't think this backline is out of the question though, moving forward.

He’s crap, people get caught up in highlights packages forgetting that the other 99% of the time is Ron Massey stuff

I worry a bit about this with our focus on indigenous pathways. I think the indigenous pathways are a fantastic initiative and it seems that all the indigenous guys have a really strong bond which is great, but not all of them are going to make it and I hope it doesnt start to affect the feeling between the club and some of these guys when their bradas get cut.

Not sold on Su'a, he's played some good footy but has gone off the boil lately, been dropped because he wasn't playing good enough. Hits hard but has errors in him, doesn't make a heap of metres running the footy and doesn't score much either.

He's one of Bennett's favourites and Wayne has dropped him, that speaks volumes IMO. Not opposed to it but don't think he will be anymore than a 'decent' signing, obviously happy to be proven wrong.

His big hit (which half the time he shoulder charges and gets penalised for anyway) is all he's got.

If you’re talking about Fitzgibbon and his latest post, I’m pretty sure he’s saying “that’s me for the year” because NSW cup is over

We need to think about players looking to leave thier club and for mine thier will be a few on contract who will be looking for a mutual exit

Joe Tapine (27, 131 FG games)- No doubt in my mind that he will be looking out of the Raiders and id say they will oblige. Plus Madge loves him from their time with NZ

David Klemmer (27, 169 FG games) - Is a 1st tackle prop making 150m every week and 95% tackle efficiency. He is playing off the bench at the Knights and wouldnt be happy and they need to upgrade the Saifiti twins next year.

Shaun Lane (26, 111 games) / Marata Niukore (24, 69 FG games)- Playing off the bench for the Eels with Brown, Matterson, Papalili starting and they still have Cartwright, Hipgrave and Stone in their squad. Can't see both of them staying and either would be great additions

Connor Watson (25, 95 Fg Games) - Great utility value and off contract would be a great number 14 and gives you back up at halves, hooker, fullback and has even played some lock this year. Rumoured to be going to Sharks is the only issue to join Fitzy but would be a great and cheaper replacement for what Mbye is meant to be.

While the first 4 are all on contract they are also players who could be looking for one reason or another for a starting spot and all in the prime mid 20s but not 30 like Finucane

Really rate this post, all four/five would contribute from day one. I agree with the idea that we should go after guys who want to get out

Aaron Woods cheap would be a smart pick up , he still plays well and better than most of our current engine room and tackles well
Add Tapine for 3 years , new club great player and young
Then if Finucane is out of the price I would give Vaughan a shot , he has no chances left a good solid player , he can’t stuff up As he would be totally finished , I would also be giving Blore and a few others plenty time on the park for the rest of the season , I know we are still only a few point out of the 8 but never know what could happen , Lucy looks broken , and big James isn’t punching forward at all

Exactly. Johnston didn’t look like running him down at any point last week.

Liddle, Nofa, Roberts, Brooks, and Mbye are all very quick. Problem is they don’t have the fitness or desire to follow each other and back one another up.

Watch what happened on the weekend when Cook runs the ball. Then watch what happens when Liddle does it.

That would be a great get, potentially as good as TPJ without some of the baggage and probably a lot cheaper. Probably the type of player to pay slightly overs to get. Young impact player

Missed him! Dragons offered ridiculous money, probably out of desperation.

I’d argue that our biggest issue is lack of defence, not speed.

Speed is a big asset in defence as well,slow players are a lot easier to get around, as you can see on our edges!

Keeping our defence on the front foot is the key ...doesn't matter how quick our edge players are ..or our backs ....as I have said in the past ...if any NRL player can get a defender one on one they are probably screwed 8 times out of 10

I have seen all the great sides back to Saints with Gaz, Changa, King etc. Parra, with Kenny, Ella, Cronin etc Manly with Fulton, Eadie etc, Broncos with Lockyer, Miles, Sailor, Renouf etc. I have never seen a great side EVER, who did not have speed galore.
