In fairness to Grant he was our only other big unit last year, besides Woods - they were doing most of the hit ups. The panthers are probably offering more coin and he’s not part of the tigers plans post 2018.

So being fat and hopeless is now a legitimate reason to be medically retired?
The way Moses was carrying on when he wanted out of WT we could have retired him due to Toxic Shock Syndrome.

They signed Sharon so fat and hopeless won't cut it as a legitimate reason.

I was calling for the Wests Tigers to bring back BMM throughout the world cup but alas, I believe he has gone to the Titans. (happy to be corrected but that's what I heard) He is nothing like the player who turned out for us, has become an absolute beast who may well come back to trample us.

There was talk of BMM to Titans but then there was talk that his ESL side were refusing to release him.

He is still no better than when we had him imo - still full of errors, uncontrolled aggression and gives away penalties. One pass for a try does not make him a beast - unless it is a fairy tale that is.
 
I think you'll find Grant is on a fair bit more than 300k. Deals like these that put us so close to the cap. But we had no say in it as extension was in his favour. I think Ivan may have mentioned he's not in our top 17 and he's free to take up any other options if they arise. Would highly doubt we'd pay a cent if he goes. Sue would be a better fit for our bench as he provides the impact to contrast the work ethic of Matulino, Packer, Twal and Eisenhuth.

I agree.

I'm always wary of players having a standout tournament after middling club form - it's probably a mental thing, riding the wave of the Tongan tilt.

Not to say BMM is no good and I'd be happy to take a punt again, but he basically failed to nail it at Tigers and Panthers, and is doing alright in what is an inferior ESL competition.

Big step to come back to the NRL and be a consistent weekly contributor. I reckon he'll still get found out by the pace of the NRL, happens to plenty of players.

Or maybe he has matured and is a better footballer? The club knows better than anyone, he was here for a long time.
 
I think BMM suffered from Sheens coaching the forwards to play soft without confidence, which he seemed to do. Look how ordinary players like Heino, Gibbs and Fifita took off at cronulla.

They were far better at Wests than Cronulla.
