Is Lomax rumoured to come to the club next year? And if so what's the likely timeline for it to be finalised?

About 4 years

Make it 5 years he extended until 2026

Don’t think Brandon Smith is coming, even if the tigers threw a million at him. If he is willing to come to a Sydney team it will be roosters, 750-800 k on the books plus cash under the table, their is no way he chooses us.

Queensland stars Ben Hunt and Felise Kaufusi have taken up options to remain at the Dragons and Storm respectively as Titans skipper Jamal Fogarty has inked a new deal to stay at his club.

The NRL's final 2021 squad listings have been officially announced after this week's mid-season transfer deadline passed.

The Roosters have rewarded a trio of emerging NRL regulars with new two-year-deals, with Billy Smith, Drew Hutchison and Fletcher Baker re-signing until the end of 2023.

For Hutchison and Smith especially, the extensions come after long-term injury battles that limited their first-grade opportunities.

The future is bright at Bondi Junction with teen tyro Joseph Suaalii having options in his favour to extend his two-year deal at the Roosters into 2023 and 2024.

At the Dragons, Hunt has opted into the final year of his deal for 2023 while centre Zac Lomax's has done likewise with his long-term deal, enacting the final-year option in his in favour for 2026.

Kaufusi remaining at Melbourne is another boost for the premiers on the back of the recent deals announced for fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen and coach Craig Bellamy.

Fogarty was already locked in at the Titans for another 12 months but will remain at the club until the end of 2023, while Gold Coast prop Herman Ese'ese has taken up his 2022 option.

Warriors livewire Reece Walsh has a 2024 clause in his favour, as do Parramatta pair Mitchell Moses (2024) and Maika Sivo (2023).

For the August 2 deadline for 2021 rosters to be finalised, each club is able to carry up to two players who had their contracts terminated, as agreed in the amended CBA.

No more Zac Lomax rumours lol

Did you notice Egan Butcher was not included in the trio of announcement of re-signings of emerging regulars at the Roosters?

Yea but wasn't it in the news that him and his brother were organising contracts with roosters couple weeks ago. Idk if we can pull him away from his brother and the roosters, but god it would be awesome if we could.

What’s the hold up if he loves the roosters so much. Another club/clubs has offered a decent contract which the roosters are struggling to match is my guess

Why would Lomax opt into his 2026 deal now as that seem strange..

That's the strangest thing I've ever heard.
Did anyone mention to him he has another 4 years at least to decide?
Would still look better in a Wests Tigers jersey.

I was just thinking or maybe hoping about this Lomax extension..
Maybe just maybe if he is working on leaving he needs to take up this option so a transfer is cleaner and will include the 2026 year.. Someone was saying lawyers are involved so this might be a good sign.

No. You wouldn’t extend prior to agreeing to a release and signing with another club as it’s a new contract. The extension means he’s staying.

Couldn't be further from the truth.
He's spending as much of the Dragons money as he can, To irritate the release, Or get a better deal for himself...
The Dragons have paid a motza for him (I think the rumour was 600 at the time - Fullback money) Could also be the Dragons are trying to move him on, As they have a good crop of kids coming through - And that kind of money for essentially a centre, For that long - is just stupid.
My guess is he'll go, Get a handsome payout on his current (Stupid) Contract and sign a very good deal elsewhere and make close to a mill a season for the next couple years.

Lodge did much the same thing, Took his options up well before he had to - And is on like 1.2 atm

Does anyone know how decisions are made on recruitment at the club? I know there is a committee but is it Hartigan who makes recommendations to the committee? Who’s on the committee? Why are we hearing Sheens is emailing managers?

I don’t think that’s wise tbh.
I would prefer to see a committee of an uneven number whereby the voting power is of equal value and a majority count is required to lock in a decision. I respect Sheens standing in the game but I’m not sure we should give anyone of our recruitment staff hierarchy over another. Would make for more balanced decisions.

They spin a chocolate wheel and then get Lee to announce the player

Lodge is currently the leagues most expensive player based on his earnings from the Warriors and Brisbane

No one tells Sheens what to do trust me.
There’s no point having balanced decision making when Sheens is one of the best talent identifiers in the game. We have seen what our current recruitment looks like. Between Sheens, Maguire you are covered. Hartigan has done well with juniors only.

He chose Matt groat over Andrew Fifita. Didn't play Jeff lima in first grade. This was at a time when we needed props. Chose John Morris to play halfback, persisted with it for three years. T

Yeah I disagree. I agree Sheens has a very good eye for talent but I would just prefer not to have an final shot caller. I would prefer them to to make a decision through collaboration.
That way your coach, head of football and recruiting manager are all agreeing about the player they are bringing in. No scapegoats.
In fact have a committe of those three and make it a all or nothing vote.
