Interesting to note that not only is Brandon Smith off contract at the end of 2022 but Harry Grant actually has a Mutuak option for 2023 so if effectively off contract at the end of 2022 at this stage as well. I say go all in for Harry

last year showed having Grant in our team isn't priority and I would extend that to Smith as well.

We had Grant and still missed the finals terribly, we have far more important areas to fill before throwing marquee money at Hooker.

Without Grant we’d be last.

But seriously, I’d throw 1Milly at Grant. Even 1.1..

The influence and everything he had on the whole of Wests Tigers, I actually never felt or seen that effect a player can do to a team.

What do you do with the two capable hookers we presently have?

The 19 yr old nsw cup player or the injury riddled bloke who missed 8 tackles vs the Warriors and left dummy half empty and tjrows a bunch of average passes. You give them to someone else snd take the Origin star

Too bad the tigers have re-signed Liddle.

Only for 2 years and Grant would not leave the Storm until 2023 anyway.
You could offload Liddle pretty easy I reason and Simpkin could be a super sub / back up.

Or you could get rid of Simpkin and keep the better hooker at only 24.

The bloke with terrible service that can’t keep up during games? No thanks. Liddle had his chance this year. Time for Simpkin to step in.

Our recruitment was dreadful last off season too; imagine if Penrith hadn't agreed to the Momo/Laurie swap.

Why did we swap out our best centre? I suppose in hindsight we saved a young man’s career , Laurie probably wouldn’t have played much footy if it wasn’t for the Tigers.

we needed a fullback urgently. as soon as laurie appeared big difference.

Grant has left us.
He isn't coming back.
We can spend our lives lamenting the girl that dumped us or we can find another girl and move on.

He didn't dump us, he wasn't ours in the 1st place.

So we were cutting someone else's grass and she chose to go back to her boyfriend.
We still lost the girl.

Incorrect, we were committing adultery with permission, she went back to her husband.

Butcher and Lomax would be great pick ups if we can trick them into signing onto the dotted line. I don’t think Madge has that much pull with the star players, I think they can smell the desperation no matter what he says. We can see the foundations of the club are built, COE coming, recruiting good juniors, young talent coming through but we need the first grade team to start making finals before players will want to come to our club. We need to somehow sign a marquee player that other players want to play with like a Turbo, Latrell or Teddy. It won’t be happening for 2022. Does anyone think the treatment of a club legend, Robbie Farah has turned players off coming to the club or just the continuous years of mediocrity?

This thread has deteriorated to almost the same point as Wests Tigers recruitment 😂

I’m all in on really indecipherable analogies , but this girlfriend rejection one even has me baffled . How does a loan deal with the storm , where we tried to buy the player at the end of the duration , analogous to a being a stalker for an ex who dumped you for her ex ? Haha
I get your point schultzy , we should move on ? But that’s not your best material mate lol

That we had already signed Laurie for next year but rushed him over for Momo highlights how bad our roster and recruitment was.

It's like going to a swingers party, tossing your keys in a bowl and you luck out with Miss Universe. At the end of the night you return home to reality with you wife. You then try to woo Miss Universe back with flowers and chocolates but she's quite happy to stay with Mr Universe.

I said last year we needed to get Harry a girlfriend in Sydney...

Or we're (openly) in a polyamorous relationship but continually being left out.

Now that one cuts really deep Lauren…ouch!!

Personally, we need lots of things, one of those being more leadership. Thats why I would look at Josh Hodgson. A hoooker, a middle forward and a leader. An old version of Brandon Smith and very achieveable.

He has one year to go at Canberra and is unlikely to go beyond that at 32 by the end of next year.

I'd give him 3 years, 2 years and the third with a club option. He wont get that at Canberra.

34 by the end of the contract. we can extend if we need. And buys time for Liddle/Simpkin.

Brings professionalism and leadership. And is a good price. Supposedly, he is on $750K I'd tip in $500K for the next three, with the raiders paying $250 of that next year.

EDIT - Was player managed by Isaac Moses, a huge negative.

I think I would get rid of the guy who also can't play 80 minutes, stands with his hands on his hips after he passes the ball, hogs the ball in try scoring situations, slow as a wet week, no experience and couldn't tackle a decent size sandwich.
