this is from the Townsville Bulletin. was reported we'd signed him a while back.

'Another Kirwan Bears star gets snapped up by a NRL club'

From the footy fields of Bowen to the bright lights of the NRL, this schoolboys rugby league sensation is making huge strides in his fledging footy career.

Kirwan State High School student and Townsville Blackhawks flyer Dudley Dotoi has signed with NRL outfit the Wests Tigers on a two-year-deal and will begin pre-season training with the Sydney-based club in November.

Already making a name for himself in footy circles thanks to his speed, ability and dynamite fend, Dotoi is eager to follow in the footsteps of other Kirwan High alumni who have taken the NRL by storm in recent times, such as Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Jason Taumalolo and Brandon Smith.

“I sat down with a couple of Wests Tigers people earlier in the year and they were very keen to have me there,” Dotoi said.

“It is like a dream come true. Playing NRL is something I’ve wanted to do ever since I can remember. It’s what I’ve been working towards and I’m overwhelmed that this next step has happened. A lot of people have helped me along the way and made it possible for me to be where I am now.”

Dotoi has been one of Kirwan High’s key weapons during this year’s Aaron Payne Cup schoolboys season, and he has also been a standout in the Townsville Blackhawks’ junior ranks. He was part of Kirwan’s Aaron Payne Cup and state championship-winning sides last year, and the success helped propel him further on to the radar of NRL sides.

Dotoi placed much of the credit to the support of family, friends, the Townsville Blackhawks system and also the Kirwan High community.

“I’m blessed to be here. I couldn’t be in a better place and the support I’ve received has been amazing,” Dotoi said.

Dotoi and his Kirwan Bears will play St Brendan’s College, Yeppoon, next Wednesday in the final of the Aaron Payne Cup, with Dotoi once again showing his class in the semi-final against The Cathedral College to help guide Kirwan to a 28-24 victory.

Bears coach Nathan Norford said Dotoi has all the attributes to enjoy success in the NRL.

“He’s a very talented youngster, and he’s got speed and elusiveness to beat. He can defence well and he’s definitely one of our strike weapons out there. He was with the Blackhawks’ state championship winning team and he has a great attitude. I’m sure he’ll grab the opportunity in front of him with both hands,” Norford said.

anyone watch trent robinsons post match conference? Dear lord he rinses Henry Perenara

Trent Robinson is a very smart fellow, also has a great memory as you could see when he rattled off the matches with issues he was concerned about.

Problem is he's a hypocrite. Banging on last night about his players not being protected when he has a few of the biggest loose cannons in his own side (Radley, JWH) and forgetting the fact that Latrell was developed in the Roosters system.

It was as interesting to watch as it was about as one-eyed as you could get. I laughed when he suggested that nobody looks out for the Roosters, as if they didn't waltz to two premierships after signing the best two players in the game, then had the Jordan Rankin rule overturned so they could play their wunderkind, then got Boyd Cordner's salary nicely wiped off their cap despite the extensive number of head knocks endured whilst on the payroll of the Roosters (i.e. pre-existing before current contract).

I just read a headline from the Townsville Bulletin. Townsville schoolboys rugby league star signs with Wests Tigers. I don't know his name as they wanted me to pay a subscription - like no thanks Townsville. From his photo he looks like a Polynesian boy or possibly Papua New Guinean. Anyone have more info on this.

nothing left to buy maybe make a dip again for lomax with St George that's it. Frontload Stef and Laurie otherwise

And Luciano

I hope he's extended soon. From November first other teams can talk to him

Luciano is a bigger defensive liability than he is an attacking asset.

Either he plays less minutes (heaven only knows why they try play him 80)

Or he Gets a lot fitter.

How can you not see he is the starting problem for the defensive issues in our centres and wing. Rather than reply go and watch a few highlights and watch how often his attacking opposite
gets on his outside. To that add how many times he gets sucked into the middle and is too tired to recover.

Yes - I think a lot of people on this forum have wondered why Madge keeps persisting with LL playing big minutes. Stop eating hot chips in the sheds and he may get fit enough for a Cameron Murray role.

I dunno man he looks really good to me. He's playing centre here but he looks like he would make a really good winger. He looks fast but also like he's very difficult to tackle and has very good footwork.

"Round 1 - Dudley Dotoi
Townsville Blackhawks centre Dudley Dotoi was dangerous with the ball, scoring two tries, during his side's 48-10 win over Mackay Cutters in Round 1. Throughout the regular season, Dudley secured a double every time he played, with six tries in three games. Coach Stephen Sheppard said "Dudley is an excitement machine who looked dangerous every time he touched the ball"."
