Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All good mate. I don’t want to be a negative poster but I just want to point out what I have experienced. People think it’s sour grapes but my son left roosters for trial and train contract elsewhere. Hartigan was already removed from his position so he had absolutely nothing to do with my son’s decision.

It's fascinating insight.

I just shake my head and think how bad pascoe is with foot all decisions.

Hopefully sheens makes football related decisions from here pascoe should be totally removed from that. Pascoe has been eaten by the wolves with his football decisions has really hurt the club.

My understanding is that whilst at the roosters Hartigan signed the likes of Latrell, Manu, Taukiehuo, Toupianua, Collins, Momirovski, Watson etc. His man focus is getting the best 16-19 year olds and developing them into NRL players. Considering our Flegg side was undefeated this year and 60-70% of them came from other clubs it appears he is doing the same thing for us.

Spot on mate, that is why we have invested in the Pathways the way we have to make sure these guys have the best chance of transitioning to the NRL.

I know we missed the finals this year and that might end up been by only 2 games but we are just missing a few key players and we are a top 8 team. IF we can add 3+ experienced guys to this current team we are a different team - A front rower , lock and centre would be massive for us and just hope our management can attract a few players to get this ship moving.
I also think the club should be putting a lot of updates out to the media about the COE as this is a Massive game changer for us moving forward. As a player these state of the art facilities are a must and shows that the club is serious about winning and gives all the players everything they need from recovery to game day.
I've said this quite a lot now but we just need to get the 1st big named player across and others will follow even if we need to play overs for that player (needs to be a top player like a B Smith, Grant, etc..) Most players will be reluctant to come unless others do as they won't want the pressure all on them to turn it around.
I must admit I am a little excited about the future but 100% we need to buy experience players NOW to help the young ones.
I cannot wait to see Laurie, Stefo & Blore in a few years time after some games under there belts so we also need to gets these guys extended ASAP before there price goes higher and other poach..

If we added Burns and Walker in the centres and Peachey at lock:

1 Laurie
2 Maumalo
3 Burns
4 Walker
5 Nofoaluma
6 Brooks
7 Hastings
8 Utoikamanu
9 Liddle
10 Ofahengaue
11 Blore
12 Tuilagi
13 Peachey

14 Mikaele
15 Twal
16 Leilua
17 Simpkin

Braidon Burns is somewhat should talk to. Not only a quality centre but a wonderful fella off the field. Injuries have hammered him and affected his speed but I think he would definitely improve us.

Yeay walker has surpised me this year. Has played really well. Burns looks like a good prospect too.

Yea we are probs not goin to sign any real big stars of the game however if we could get a Tariq or Peachey for experience & leadseship & wholly agree with Brayden Burns if we could

Reckon we could find a home for Tariq and Peach. 2nd row and lock. Wouldn’t break the bank.

Yeah he has been good, particularly when playing in the middle. He still has some pace about him and is definitely bigger than when he was playing centre back in his early days at Souths. I think he'd do well back in the centres - better than what we have at least.

We only have to look at some of the finds who will be joining us next year to realise how much we have improved. There is the young PNG winger from Brisbane, the centre Dudley Dotoi from FNQ, Chris Faagutu from Marsden and one of his team mates plus the young prop from Keebra. Years gone by we would be lamenting this talent going elsewhere. Now it is the other QLD teams lamenting the loss of this great talent to WTs. If this is failure, please bring on more of it!

A good start, but in reality none of these players mean anything until they establish themselves in first grade and commit to the club longer term.

Remember the talents of Delouise Hoeter & Lamar Liolavave. Remember when we signed gun youngsters like Australian schoolboys star Dylan Smith or NSW u/18 rep Kane Bradley?

If I was a young bloke the wests tigers are a great place to kick start a career. Given the roster turnover and the inability to sign established talent, there will likely be opportunities to put yourself in the shop window and then take your pick of opportunities available.

Good post. WTs does offer young players a good chance at the NRL. The quality of our junior recruitment appears to have improved markedly based on results this year. I think Dillon and Scolari are probably the only two remaining from the David Warwick era? Perhaps someone can confirm it?

The work done on pathways and bringing Sheens, Kimmorely and Betsy into the fold is excellent.

The big concern for me is when they hit our NRL team. If the article in the SMH is true, Maguire's position is untenable. It was untenable anyway.

Hers the thing though. Most people all have some people that like them and some that don’t. It’s rare to find somebody that everybody loves. And today’s youth seem to struggle when challenged by authority and in general need to be somewhat babied. What happens when some of the players don’t like the next coach? Do we keep changing because the coach has lost the sheds? Maybe after another 3 or 4 goes we’ll get a coach the players like and then maybe the attitude during games will improve

I don’t get the fascination with Peachey?! The guy runs around in circles and is knee-high to a grasshopper to boot! We let McIntyre go and what little opportunity he’s had at the Titans he’s showed a ton of passion and ability to break the line. I’m lamenting more than adopting a dwarf fetish.

Wow!
Who else is just a bit happy that we only recruit good mannered individuals (BJ’s brain snaps aside)
A team of Fonua Brown, Lodge, DWZ, Evans, Tevanga.
Wow!

A good coach knows his audience. No one template fits all. The good coaches know that and stay relevant despite the passing of time. Bennett is one example, Bellamy and Cleary others. I have no doubt Sheens would adapt as he has always been an innovator.

I couldn’t care less about someone’s opinion or observation on Hartigan especially when relatives are involved and at another club.

It can’t be denied that he has been responsible for signing many talented young players into our system. Surely no-one can dispute that.

What Hartigan is being blamed for is not getting top NRL signatures. When he came here it was publicised that he would get our salary cap in order and not get us caught paying way overs again. Surely that is another tick for him?

We will struggle to sign marquee players because the other successful clubs will bid high for them anyway and until we are making finals ala winning, they won’t come here.

We are on the right track with the good young players we have we just need to find the right NRL experience to put with them at the right price. It hasn’t worked with Tamou, BJ, JTJ and others but they aren’t on long term deals so we keep trying.

My biggest worry is do we gave the right coach for this scenario? Personally, I don’t think Madge is that guy.

That’s my point though Paws, you can’t taylor individual messages to suit your audience in this sport. And I believe Sheens was sacked on account of the same losing of the sheds so perhaps he wasn’t innovative enough.

I agree with your post and well thought out.
I personally would like to give Madge another year to prove himself as he has done all the dirty work with regards to cleaning out a roster and deserves a crack as some rewards. Next year will be the first season with no Packer, Mbye and Reynolds who have not given much for marquee signings..

Who has hartigan signed for us? Please don’t say some qld schoolboys. Daine Laurie was hand picked before Hartigan when Daine played Matts at Penrith. We can thank Ivan for a couple of Penrith boys. Anyway enjoy us making junior rep finals and not converting those to nrl players. I have seen. You are guessing
