Flanagans record at the Sharks was pretty good , plenty semi final footy and a grand final plus when he arrived there they were about where we are now , way off finals ability , He won’t risk any stuff ups , he can attract players , he talks like he knows what’s going on in his commentary , It’s him or Bennett if they delay addition team to the comp , my money is on Flanagan to take over and within a couple weeks , the Tigers can’t sit back for to long , the coaches call will be done pretty quick I think then the new guy can come in and get some players over to us ,

A lot of people are saying they would have a massive problem with this if it happens and stop supporting the team, but ill bet 3 cents that if we started winning they would change their tune.

Whats the worst that would happen, that the players start taking Metamucil?

Personally my problem is that Flanagan has proven himself to be a rubbish bloke and I cant get behind that. Same reason I couldnt support Taylor as coach and Flanagan has proven himself leagues worse than Taylor.

LATEST: Dragons three year $1.7m deal done with Moses Suli. Been told no transfer payment. @9NewsSyd @NRLonNine

That’s a awful deal, go Dragqueens.

Tariq Sims is a state of origin player, never takes a backward step , leads by example and trains the house down , something we desperately need , a bit like in 2004 when we bought in Scotty Sattler , a gem for the young blokes comin through

I Like Sims as a player but I cant get excited about him coming, mostly due to age. He is being let go because of age (and who knows about injuries). He is better than some our current guys and better than some of the other suggestions but at his age he seems to be potentially a McQueen/Tamou/Balin/Anasta signing that will be crippled by father time.

For every Sattler there is an Anasta/Tamou.

Shane Flanagan has well and truly learnt his lesson and won't re-offend again.

He broke his ban within 12 months. The fact that he never took his "lesson" seriously is the main reason I dont want him.

John Morris
Shane Flanagan
Geoff Toovey
Neil Henry
Stephen Kearney
Paul McGregor

What a list to choose from.

Every one is Garbage - They all got sacked from their last jobs.

First 2 ain't too bad, both experienced with a good football coaching brain. I agree with the rest.

What evidence is there that Morris has a "good football coaching" brain? Was his trajectory with a semi finals squad an upward one?

Brooks gets replaced by Kyle and becomes another protected species.

At least Kyle will be trying in matches and not playing robotics.

If you read about Flanagan, he analysed the players in his squad and changed the playing style to suit the tough nuts. I recall being at Shark Park (Caltex, Endeavour etc) and it was a confronting atmosphere on and off the field. It was always a tough, grinding niggling game but the Sharks also had sufficient spark in their backline.

Sounds like a Michael Maguire coached team, how did that turn out for us?

The changing of the playing style to suit the strengths of the players in the team was of most interest. This is the opposite of the one style fits all approach.

Paul Green quit origin. Hoping to get a nrl gig.

If Tigers hire him I will not watch one game. He is so overrated. Last 3 years at Cowboys his tactics and selections were putrid. Look at his selections for origin last year. He should not be coaching any team.

Watch everyone lose their minds when the Roosters sign a few players over the off season. Conveniently forgetting Friend and the Morris twins are off the books.

And their former Captain.

Exactly this he broke it constantly as well. Texting and interacting with players. He has no regard for rules or his responsibilities so shouldn’t be the leader of a football team.

All that does is highlight how ridiculously poor our recruitment is. And/or how much the Roosters get away with because their boss is richer than New Zealand.

We only have to look at some of the finds who will be joining us next year to realise how much we have improved. There is the young PNG winger from Brisbane, the centre Dudley Dotoi from FNQ, Chris Faagutu from Marsden and one of his team mates plus the young prop from Keebra. Years gone by we would be lamenting this talent going elsewhere. Now it is the other QLD teams lamenting the loss of this great talent to WTs. If this is failure, please bring on more of it!

When will these blokes be likely to be ready for 1st grade though? 2-3 years at least? We need a little bit of something for the here and now.

they won't sign much, they spent all that money retaining Walker, the Butchers, Baker etc.
