Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Don’t sign any of these bums. There is no one out there I would take, deadset no one.

Front load Stefano, Daine, Blore and Laurie now so we’re not scrambling over another big 4 again. Wait for potential players wanting out randomly and try to convince players for 2023. Any one we sign that is currently off contract is a waste of cap space and would not improve this team at all.

I don’t think those four will agree to new deals without some quality players being added around them.

Next year is going to be awful anyway. Just front load contracts for decent players and write next year off. Don’t waste money on has beens and never will be’s.

Madden with some first grade experience can be something special if we keep brooks and let madden grow his game in nsw cup it will be the best situation but if brooks leaves he is our only option id rather blood him then have ash taylor taking up our cap room madden is former junior kangaroo captain so theres something there

Needs to put some attacking threat to his tool box.

Read the first paragraph.
None of them are quality players

We need some experienced players to come into our squad , Sims would certainly bring something to the table ,Elliott , Peachey a nd a decent outside back with speed and good D , We need to be better nxt year otherwise all the Madge bashers will be calling for his head 😂👍

Madden is also young and is still learning which is why i stated bring in a halves coach like a finch or matty johns we have noddy at the club im sure he would be more than happy to help jock unlock some hidden talent like joey has for cleary and moses

Reading some news Lachlan Lewis may end up at the warriors...

Could be one of their halves on the move.

Does he come with speakers or are they an optional extra?

Recruitment wise this is what I would do
-DO NOT go for Ash Taylor

-Hastings halfback he has a good kicking game and will give his all every game

-Brooks at 6 (if he stays if we move him on madden will take the 6)

-Sign Curtis Scott center is a position we've been lacking in for awhile

-Sign tariq sims I know alot of people will say he's crap whatever its what he provides in leadership is what we need

-Sign Aaron Woods to a 2 year deal we need some older heads around the boys and his stats show he is defensively solid

-Sign Brett white as a defence coach played and worked at Melbourne and will drill standards into our young forwards

-Bring in a halves specialist whether it be finchy, matty johns even toovey bring someone to give that extra bit of guidance

-Sign Tyrone peachy he can play that ball playing lock spot that Hastings was going to play

-Finally put to bed these garner rumours get a deal done with manly swap garner for a like replacement like a Toafofa Sipley who by the looks of it next year will be constant 18th man who really should be in the starting squad

A Hastings/ Madden halves combo would be worst in the comp by far

Madden not ready for another year. Hopefully we wont have to carry a second hooker next year and dont forget AD when he is fit. 50/50 with Peachy, maybe a 2 year contract to cover our ACL problems.

What's the logic in front loading contracts for decent players?

Lets say Stefano is on 300k next year and 300k the year after. We front load by paying him 450k next year and then he's on 150k the year after. If he's on 150k the next year, other clubs will be all over him and have him agitating for a release.

If when you say "front load contracts" you mean "upgrade player contracts" like Stefano then I agree.

I mean a bit of both. For ones we want to keep long term like Stefano and Laurie upgrade and extend. For others front load so we can utilise the cap space later on when there’s more on the market.

@avocadoontoast mate all good just throwing some suggestions out there

Not criticising your suggestions at all, there's literally bugger all out there to sign.

Yet we will get criticised for not signing anyone

How does everyone feel about the garner situation though? has been rumoured for 2 years now played with manly coming through still lives in manly it would be ideal for garns and manly but who would we like back as i stated id love to have sipley he runs hard hits hard and gives his all thats what we need at the club

We had our chance to sign players but we blew it, so now all that's left are the dregs no other team wants.

Are you going to front load Daine Laurie twice?

The fact that some people want Taylor is indicative of how much our club loves mediocrity. It's just a massive no. He's been a failure for many years now. The chances of him coming good again are one in thousand.

We're much better off targeting players that can have an immediate impact, or at least have the possibility that they'll turn into the player we need during the contract. We can't keep gambling our precious squad spots trying to squeeze blood from a stone.

If we had a dozen roster spots open then maybe for 150k on a one year deal. With where our squad is no way...

Taylor at the right price to me is a good buy. The outlay is not great but the returns could be great if he fires. I don't believe the Gold Coast is the easiest place to concentrate with so many distractions.

So you see no value in having a noted organiser in Hastings having one of the two positions?
Or you like the idea of Taylor being a backup for either Brooks or Hastings.
