So is munster getting the flick from Melbourne ??

I would suggest no, he's not.

Don’t be to confident of that … Bellamy and the Storm are not happy campers at present , someone will be shown the door I reckon.

Apparently Bellamy was livid a few years ago when Bromwich had a little snort of coke.
So he would be really pissed a Smith and Munster.

Its funny how people say madge is too intense and yells at his players, etc
But Bellamy does it more so

Only difference is WT culture

Difference is Bellamy has set up an elite system that gets the best out of almost every player that plays there

Madge gave us the worst defensive structures we've ever had

Madge set up an elite system also.... they just played in a GF

You think Maguire is responsible for this Souths team playing in the finals? Is he also responsible for Wigan's average Superleague season this year too?

In the 7 years after Madge left wigan won 3 premierships under his former assistant coach. Wigan have been hit by injury this year, still played finals.

At south's read the link below about the GF 17 and see how often madges name is specifically mentioned.

Madge bought into the team:
Alex Johnson
Dane Gagai
Campbell Graham
Cody Walker
Adam Reynolds
Damien Cook
Cam Murray
Tom Burgess

https://www.nrl.com/news/2021/09/28/1-17-souths-signings-the-gambles-bargains-and-local-lads-in-rabbitohs-rise/

The sad truth of Maguire's time here is that: players want to leave, players don't want to come and players don't buy into his coaching. His past success is something he'll always have but that has little relevance to Wests Tigers.

I also can't believe that you're giving him credit for Wigan's current position, a club he coached a decade ago. I guess we should blame our current position on Sheens then.

The truth is we have a core group of younger players that have bought in including The Ute , AD, Laurie, Seyfarth, Maumolo, Blore, Tuilagi, Twal,. What we are missing experienced leaders and an x factor, something I hope the new football committee is working on.

I was responding that Madge has set up successful systems at Wigan and Souths which has seen success even after he has left.

He's our coach - best to get on board and find the positives.

Exactly mate, I was ready for us to move on from Madge but the decision was made to keep him. Our only chance of success for next season is with Madge in charge so I will support him getting the job done.

I have to accept that Madge is our coach of choice(!!) next year...and I have to support him..but Id be astonished if he can "get the job done".next year or any other year at WTs
Unfortunately the evidence(last 3 years results/Tigertown (which explains the underlying drivers)gives me little cause for any optimism, for which i apologise.
Think it will be another lost year of "building towards the future"..like the past 10!
As a former WTs captain says..it is what it is!
..cough..or was that a dry reach?

While I do tend to agree, I try to be positive in life when I can be lol

Yep..but gotta match it with realism and pragmatism!!
Glass is always half something or other...!

It sounds stupid, but I honestly have a few mental health issues and if I don't find a way to keep positive about things, even the Wests Tigers, I slide into a bad head space that is best to avoid.

Not stupid at all mate.
I think that's where this forum and sport in general is great in providing a community and supporting each other.

Its been a tough year on the field and in real life but I can always find a post on here that makes me laugh or a posotive comment that gives me hope.

And if nothing else - I just think back to the whole Leichhardt crowd signing **'Clearys a w#@nker!'** And will always make me proud to be a WT supporter ?
????

Best moment of the season, daylight second.

The stocks of Penrith defensive coach Cameron Ciraldo continue to rise. The Panthers have clearly been the best defensive side over the past two seasons. He can now sit back and wait for the right head coaching offer, which most rookie coaches don't usually get the chance to do.

They missed 59 tackles last night

Yet defended their way to a grand final win. Their absolutely battered Souths with their defence all night long and slowed the ruck down perfectly to suit them. Line speed was incredible too

Easy to have line speed when you are off-side most of the game.

The rules are there to take advantage of and they did it excellently. All the top teams do it, we were too dumb to figure it out

Dumb or lazy with no desire. Line speed is only achieved when players have the will to go there in a group. Some one has to lead - no leaders no direction no team work no results

If they are fit enough. For me that is a massive question mark last year. The team has never looked better (lean, ripped) but was their cardio up to it. They looked to gas back end of each half most games.

Enthusiasm and offside. We dont get enthusiasm but we certainly get offside in our games.

Sometimes I wonder if any of you guys have played rugby league before.

There is no fitness like match fitness, nothing comes close, can’t replicate it, can’t train for it. Just need to build it.

Mate, I played and I know exactly what match fitness is all about, but its still relative. Match fitness will only allow you to play to your level of fitness. IMO it is clear that other teams have more gas than the Tigers in the back end of games.

For me what stood out about Penrith and Storm this year is their line speed in defence and players running off the ball in attack, at speed, in numbers and they are doing it until the 80th minute. Our guys did it in patches but always seem gassed late in halves.

Usually we were gassed because our completion rate and discipline were rubbish and we were forced to do a lot more defending. Although we got a lot of breathers standing under our posts waiting for conversions

@GNR4LIFE I think if injuries happen i see peach at center but I think we might end up signing Curtis Scott for that spot and gildart will start in reserves then come in round 4 for the other center spot depending on pre season

If Walker and Burns are off the market then I’d sign Scott. Not a lot of other options in the centres.

I would give Scott a crack on a one year deal.

If Lomax is definitely no go,a one year deal for Scott with a further one year club option plus an 8 month no alcohol condition each year!!
Booze is ruining him(like Elliot, who gets it)
In fact, thing "we'll all be rooned" if we dont do a bit better next

Thing to think about with Scott is he's probably going to look at compensation for the way he was sacked by Raiders.

He has form following up his rights which he should.

He was on a good wage at Canberra not sure how that impacts his next place of employment.

Opposition aware of our deficiencies getting out of our own 25 so more than happy to charge off the line and give the odd penalty or 6 again. We are usually gassed by the time we have to kick.

Fair enough, I believe match fitness is fitness beyond your level of physical fitness and I also feel building it is limited to the level of competition that requires it.
These guys have now tasted a year together and under the new rules. The hungry competitive players will build on it and the cruisers will start to fall further back into the pack. Eventually we will have a full team of the first variety.

You are incorrect imo. They broke the rules by being off-side - unfortunately Sutton let them get away with it during most of the game.

We were not too dumb at all - when we do it, most referees give 6 again or penalize us.

I am not giving Scumbag Cleary credit for anything at all.

Being match fit and being fit are two totally different things i can to the gym run on a treadmill for an hour no problem if I go to a training session with a local club its completely different story first 5 minutes im gassed so there is a big difference

It was nothing to do with match fitness. Most of the players played lengthy stretches of NRL. Sure a kid coming up from nsw cup, especially after the comp was cancelled (Tuki), didn't have the match fitness. We just weren't fit. We got tired quickly despite exerting far less energy than almost every other team. There's a reason why we're changing our high performance and fitness coaches.

As usual we can’t catch a break from the outside and the fans alike. Sign Peachey and it’s like why would you sign him, that’s not what you need etc. or it’s why can’t the tigers sign anybody and why are they so quiet in the market. Even if we went on to sign Elliot, Scott and sims, it would be the same thing. I pray the club has learned its lesson and is looking at recruitment in silence for bloody once, hence the lack of 7 articles a day the last 2 weeks. The first week of November will be an interesting one
