If Hodgson would come here it is a no brainer.
He might be older but he is class and anyway his MO is as a wily hooker.
Sticking with a young guy like Liddle only because he is young is just dumb.
The gap in talent between the two and what they can offer is a Grand Canyon.

Agree mate. Injuries have crippled him. However, why would the club resign him if they didn’t want him. It’s just so incompetent

How is it?
We extended him at the start of the year with no other NRL options even on the table for next year 6mths ago.
If we didn’t sign him we have no leverage in a player trade deal.

Simpkin came on better than they thought (especially how limited game time he has been getting due to covid) and Liddle tried his guts out but he did make poor options and his legs ran out of steam towards the end of the year. It’s clear he isn’t right with Madge as well.

I think Liddle has alot to offer a club that will let him run and use his skills. He isn’t an organiser, link or setup man. Hodgson is on the back end of his career maybe has 1-2yrs max left in him. I think if we are serious about Simpkin doing a Liddle / Hodgson swap isn’t a terrible idea. Bringing Hodgson would also help our younger forwards as well as they need leadership big time.

Madge has no choice but to improve, Sheens likes a good scheming hookers and Hodgson ticks a few boxes on various scales that Liddle doesn’t.

For once it would be great if the club was talking to a player in his early to mid twenties who is quality, who has zero injury concerns and who has not been sacked by his previous club for off field issues.

Dream on it’s the Weststigers we are talking about, always trying for a miracle signing.

Your definition of quality is a little different to mine

Maumolo - 2019 NRL winger if the year and NZ rep

Some people on here with pretty solid info have said today Hodgson is in play. I have no reason to doubt them. It's also been said Liddle doesn't want to play for Madge. All makes sense.

It was also mentioned Liddle was one of a few undermining the coach.

Liddles families friend informed us of his extension prior to it happening and then informed us he's not part of the clubs plans.

We have new evidence dropped today from Cochise saying he doesnt like being coached by Madge and Bres saying he's aware of Liddle mentioning some unkind things towards the coach recently.

We've now got news we're going to sign Hodgson...
Madge knows its make Or break and if he wants to keep his job he has to have the squad backing him....

I know Jacob has his fans but the writing is on the wall.... be very surprised if his options aren't being discussed behind the scenes right now.

Do you think this will be done this week or are we looking at end of month into Nov ?

There is a bit of info floating around that tends to point in one direction, it could be something that happens soon or something that never goes past discussing it as a possibility.

That's a bit of an each way bet....

Well I wouldn't put much money on anything to do with this club lol. I could be signing a contract myself and still wouldn't be 100% sure.

Signing Josh is a good signing IF it happens imagine your Jake Simpkin you have Hodgson and robbie farah teaching you how to be a elite hooker not only that but what he does for the other boys behind closed doors he was a leader for that Canberra grand final team sure hes older but he is still a top 5 hooker

I think you would find its more to do with what's between his ears.. He is a player that can control a game and make consistent solid decision that win games. We lack this and Simpkin's is not ready for full time playing without NSW games to develop.
