From foxsports: Manly veteran Dylan Walker is the pick of the bunch after the utility enjoyed a strong back-end to the 2021 season.

The Sea Eagles have tabled a two-year contract extension but The Australian’s Brent Read reported the club’s patience is running thin as his manager shops him around for a better deal.

The Wests Tigers are interested in the 27-year-old Walker and still have $1 million to spend on 2022. The utility played under Tigers coach Michael Maguire at South Sydney and for the right price, a reunion could be on the cards.

Playing ability aside, the testimony of what he did to his Mrs was abhorrent (despite the charges being dropped). I would be deeply disappointed if the tiges gave him an opportunity.

Yeah seems like a Class A douche however he was massively impressive during the back end of Manly's season and charge into the finals. He's an effort player with skill and really offers a team energy and spark. Is that enough to turn a blind eye to the rest? I tend to feel it isn't however worthy of some consideration.

Mmm, I don't think any level of football ability should make you turn a blind eye to domestic abuse.

I do agree on principle. It’s a dilemma for the average fan with good values.

There’s been a number of premierships won in recent memory with key players with allegations against them.

The point I was trying to make before got lost in translation to a few what im saying is
-We sign Hodgson he along with robbie mentor jake
-Jake plays nsw cup and gets his body ready and plays 17 sometimes when needed
-By the time Hodgson retires which should be 2 years from now by that time Jakes body will be ready to rip in

Then we've got Anjoul and Rua in the mix, learning from Hodgson and hopefully Farah too.

They're a few years away but looking good.

no to walker from me.
i was talking to a five year old boy this morning and he was excited at the prospect of playing football with his mate this afternoon. He said that he was the roosters and his friend was parramatta,
i said why don't you be the tigers?
he shook his head and said nah,not the tigers.
out of the mouth of babes.
me thinks wests tigers need to do a lot of promotion to restore the brand.

promotion - win

Tbf apart from a fleeting mention by Fox Sports there hasn't even been a mention of any interest in Walker. They've likely clutched at straws and thought 'Hmmm Walker is unsigned, Walker once played under Madge at Souths, Madge is now at Tigers, lets run a story Tigers are interested in Walker'.

I'm surprised we never heard about a return of Kirisome Auvaa...

"Former bad boy reunites with premiership winning coach at new club"

😂

As recent as Penrith's win this year.

Yeah I’m not a huge fan of Dylan walker and what he did was terrible and unforgivable but when you haven’t made the finals for 10 years people will get desperate and take talent over good honest people

I'm prepared to admit that I suspect my deeply held principles would come under severe pressure if we were talking about an in-their-prime Sonny Bill or Thurston with some unpleasant personal baggage.

I've missed something. When has JT ever faced allegations of domestic violence or anything else 'unpleasant'?

I understand that no one is perfect but Walker's actions are particularly egregious, and to my knowledge he has never even apologized, instead he goes out and boxes on with two innocent bystanders and earns himself an assault charge.
I wouldn't let him mow the lawns at concord, utter scum.

+1. The charges being dropped was very convenient, funny how that happens.

Not happening. We just signed the Peach

You would'nt sign him as a utility, he would be first centre picked.

Didn’t really watch him this year. I was thinking a possible plug for our centres?

I didn't watch a great deal either but from what i did see he can still move pretty well.

I’d take him as a utility if we didn’t sign peach. Not as a starting centre. Think we can do better

Well we don't have better and the way good players avoid I don't think we have a hope in hell of signing better

He is a douche but also is a very good footballer and easily be a starting centre from day dot to whenever he was to finish with us if he did sign

Liddle on his best day is Hodgson on his worst I would much rather pass liddle on get Hodgson in mentor simpkin you have robbie farah and Hodgson mentoring a young hooker he could be the next big hooker in the game along with Harry Grant

Are we seriously suggesting that Simpkin is a better option than Liddle?? From what I saw this year Liddle was superior .

Depends on which camp you listen to... definitely seems to be two distinct sides to the debate.

Simpkin is way more dangerous close to the line ,and better passing . Which is weird because the mail with Liddle was his off the ground passing was elite . Don’t know what happened there ,maybe his engine is on the fritz with the speed of the game .

Liddle is better at defending , probably because he’s coming into his man bod . He’s also better at attacking retreating defenders , but he’s also 5 years older .

The fact it’s close , and Simpkin is 5 years younger , should be all there is to say IMO. The big thing , is where is the loyalty at and who wants to stay , now the 17th team is in **. Last time we got our roster gutted by the Titans .**

Little threat of that this time.

He used John Hopoate as a character witness, you can't make this stuff up.

I just think we should invest in our juniors like simpkin and invest hard let blokes like liddle go to another club sure he may flourish under a new coach but long term success wise we benefit from keeping simpkin and bringing in talent like Hodgson and bringing up our young boys like simpkin like Rua and Scolari

Yeah I think it's best to let Liddle go. He had a whole season to prove himself and couldn't get it done. Bad service, struggled to pass left and often missed 5+ tackles. Simpkin is the future. With a big pre-season under Farah he could well be ready to take the reigns next year
