Never held us back in the past, why start now

It isn’t. It’s why we look like signing a 32 year old with no knees.

I wonder if Hodgsons ridiculous signing had anything to do with Hartigan going?

Why is it ridiculous. He's much better than what we have and provides the leadership and game management that Brooks has proven to be completely incapable of

It’s ridiculous because it’s the exact kind of signing people have been complaining about for years. A once great player that we pick up 3 or 4 years past his use by date on a long term, inflated contract. The forum has turned into the twilight zone over the last 48 hours thinking this is a great signing.

2 years. When is 2 years a long term contract? You are dead set trolling

Don’t bring him to this discussion again.

Think he’s still coming to terms with 3 being a bigger number than 2

No

Maybe not a rat but certainly an incompetent performer.

Disagree

He was let go by the Roosters, then came here and achieved very little, then ran an end of season review that has resulted in his own termination.
Either a white anting rat or an incompetent manager who was failing.

Hartigan was headhunted from the Roosters, when he told them he’d signed with TW they marched him straight out the door, didn’t even allow him to collect his things.
That doesn’t sound like someone that was “let go” by the Roosters.

Wests Tigers shake-up continues after departure of general manager

The Wests Tigers' shake-up under Tim Sheens has ramped up after the club on Friday parted ways with general manager Adam Hartigan.

***Hartigan, who was head-hunted from the Sydney Rooster***s, has been instrumental in the club's youth policy and orchestrated the signings of boom trio Daine Laurie, Stefano Utoikamanu and Shawn Blore.

While the club has consistently struck out in the recruitment market when pursuing high-profile players, Hartigan implemented a system to ensure they didn't miss the best young talent in the game.

However, the club, in a desperate bid to turn the tide, have handed the incoming Sheens the keys to the castle in his new role as director of rugby league.

Sheens will bring back close confidant Warren McDonnell to oversee recruitment, despite the veteran talent scout being moved on from the club twice in the past few years.

Hartigan declined to comment when contacted by the Herald.

Now he's GONE.

The exact same statements were said coming from a certain few "senior players".
Allegedly Nofo, Brooks and the main perpetrator Jacob Liddle.

Can they expect the same fate as Hartigan?

Thoughts?

Was Hartigan sacked because he signed Nofa to a long term deal? Or was he sacked because he didn’t? No other player has such a contract?

We've all heard the story surrounding Nofos contract.

I havent but ill take a wild stab and say its because of a certain fedora wearing board menber?

The Tigers never followed through with their intended meeting.

So he's moved on.

I’m sure Adam hartigan was meant to be at that meeting

Tim Sheens' needs someone to set up the contacts for him before he can join a zoom meeting.

That’s ok, he isn’t heading up the IT department.

They’ve literally been trashing us all season for how bad our recruitment is and how much of the blame hartigan deserves for the poor results not just Madge, now he’s the only shining light we have ? Give me a break

He's not slow.
He was at one point, an origin player.

People claimed Maumalo was slow too.
Quite the opposite.

Classy finisher, just like Cotric.

Trouble though Demps is that Cotric is not a centres bootlace (fast or slow).

We have two wingers - don't need Cotric to play in reggies.

Just my opinion though.

You're right.
He's untested at centre...
Or maybe he is tested and failed there (at the dogs)

***I always thought Nofo is more suited to centre.***

That's generally where Nofo tries to defend.

Nofa is normally third defender in.

I've heard zero from the club about Hodgson being chased. So what that says to me is that when he stays a Raider or moves to Gold Coast, it will be yet another baseless story about how Wests Tigers botched the signing.

When Journo's start interviewing and quoting other journo's as if it's fact, it's time for the funny farm.

It is the other side of the story that gets too me. Liddle is a very fine player and a loyal WT. I believe he is a captain in waiting at WTs. He is articulate and presents well. He has made an amazing recovery from a very serious knee injury. Injuries of this type take a long time to overcome. I know this as my brother in law was a physio at two former first grade clubs. These posts which want to move him on are in very poor form.

I like and respect Liddle. For tigers to be top eight we need above average players. Is he in the top 4-8 hookers? I personally think he’s reached his ceiling hence the whole not in the future plans talk.

Josh Hodgson hasn't been in the top 4-8 hookers for the past two years, and sure as hell isn't going to be in two years' time.

Josh Hodgson is an international hooker. Are you kidding me?

Would he play for Australia?

He's British though isn't he? So no he wouldn't play for Australia. Also if the prerequisite for signing a 9 to our club is that they are the Australian hooker we'll be waiting a while.

The implication in saying “Josh Hodgson is an international hooker, are you kidding me?” is suggesting that representing England is as big of an achievement and as impressive as being an Australian international. It’s nowhere near the same. How much competition would he have for that jersey? As good as he was at his peak, he would not have come close to an Origin or Australian jersey. Any other rep jumper doesn’t carry the same significance as a lot of average players represent other nations because they simply aren’t as strong.

England is hardly a minnow though. The last world cup final was England v Australia, and it was a hard fought 6-0 match, and their forward pack was at least as good as ours.

If Liddle was a Pom and they were picking a squad now, there's no way England would be picking him over Hodgson.

So many Liddle haters, did he bullied them at kindergarden?

Here are some other international players, all coincidentally around the same age as Hodgson: James Tamou. Russell Packer. Aaron Woods. Brad Takairangi. Elijah Taylor. Dean Whare. Will Chambers. Josh McGuire. Matt Gillett. Josh Dugan. Gerard Beale. Andrew Fifita. Mahe Fonua. Konrad Hurrell. Ben Murdoch-Masila.

How many of those would you put in the top 4-8 in their position as of October 2021?

So a guy turns 31 and he is no good anymore is what you are saying? Nice way to generalise you goose.

Sorry 2041 you can't have an opinion different to UW.

More names - learnt nothing I see.

I haven’t seen an effort like yours right now since Thirdman in Thaiday. Where did you come from? Is that you Sam?

England is hardly a minnow though. The last world cup final was England v Australia, and it was a hard fought 6-0 match, and their forward pack was at least as good as ours.

If Liddle was a Pom and they were picking a squad now, there's no way England would be picking him over Hodgson.

So many Liddle haters, did he bullied them at kindergarden?

Hate's a strong word mate, I definitely don't hate him. He always puts in. I just think right now Hodgson is a better player than him, and in a couple of years I think Simpkin will be better than him as well. He has been shown a lot of loyalty over the years, this year was his chance to finally make his mark but I thought he was a bit disappointing. He's far from our worst player though.

@Aubanon what’s the latest on Jordan Hill?

The Tigers never followed through with their intended meeting.

So he's moved on.

I’m sure Adam hartigan was meant to be at that meeting

Correct. Very disappointed at this outcome. We've let a good kid go because of one staff member's naivety.

What do you mean by naive @willow ?
Do you mean Adam Hartigan stood them up at the meeting?
