So how will Liddle react if we don’t get Hodgson?

How will Simpkin?

I think Simpkin will be fine, he knows he needs more development time.

I think Hodgson signing would be an indication that Simpkin sees a lot of KOE in 2022. He’s only 20. He’s probably a year or two away from being a regular first grader. There’s no reason to rush him.

I agree, I think the reason Grant hit the ground running his he spent plenty of time in the lower grades learning his trade. Simpkin spending the year in KOE next year would be hugely beneficial.

Starts 2023 as a 21 year old. Even then he’s still a baby.

Grant is 12 months older…..

Grant: DOB: 17.02.1998 (23)
Simpkin: DOB: 16.10.2001 (20)

Age gap is more than 3 and a half years.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that MAS Structures & Co have extended their partnership with the club heading into the 2022 NRL season.

Formerly known as MAS Concrete, MAS Structures & Co will feature as a Gold Partner of the club in 2022 — extending their partnership with Wests Tigers into a ninth season that promises to be as exciting and rewarding as the first.

As part of the new agreement, the new MAS Structures & Co branding will feature on the club’s official mascot, Timmy the Tiger, as well as the trainers and game day player warm-up shirts.

MAS Structures & Co’s Founder and Managing Director Dominic Mastrantuoni said he was once again excited for his company’s involvement with Wests Tigers.

“We’re really pleased to extend and build on our partnership with Wests Tigers,” Mastrantuoni said. “Having some legends back and involved with the club off the field along with a talented young squad ready to make a name for themselves, it is exciting to be associated with this great team.

"With our rebrand also taking place, we’re hoping this upcoming season is a really successful year for all involved.”

A family-owned and operated company that has serviced the greater Sydney region for over 25 years, MAS Structures & Co has evolved as a result of considerable expansion — now offering clients a broader range of services including fully integrated structural packages within the building and construction industry.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said it was pleasing to see Mr. Mastrantuoni and his newly re-branded organisation extend their commitment to the club.

“It’s very exciting when partners have been committed to the club for a number of years and continue to increase their support and involvement,” Pascoe said.

Dominic and his team have been unwavering in their support of the club, and he epitomises the passion that we want our club to be known for.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe
"Dominic has been heavily involved with the club across a number of pillars within our organisation and we’re delighted to see him continue on in his partnership of Wests Tigers.

“Wests Tigers are always committed to driving strong commercial outcomes for our partners and organisation alike, and having strong, growing agreements with partners like MAS Structures & Co will further allow us to do that as we move forward into an exciting new era for the club.”

Hodgeson’s leadership and football ability would do massively for this team especially when Doueihi comes back, he was arguably the best 9 in the comp when a guy called Cameron Smith was still playing not long ago and his had a rift with his coach which may have derailed his performances, a change of clubs could very well bring back the old him, and he isn’t that old for a hooker for only 2 years.

I do not share the joy of buying a hooker who is 32 and has had 2 ACL operations in the last few years. His form last year in a stronger club than ours was poor. There are clubs with far worse hookers than ours and they are not interested in getting him including the desperate dogs who seem to throw unrealistic money at anyone off contract.
I see Ballin Mark 2 lurching on the horizon at 100k more per year.I know it is an unpopular opinion but i see him as being as useless as Anasta was.

The Dogs have no cash left in the cap

Hodgson is a terrible signing. Apart from the cost, you don't need 3 full time hookers on the roster.

We are not going to play finals football next year with or without him. Keep the money in the pocket and wait for clubs to feel the cap squeeze or front end upgrades for players we want to keep.

Hodgson is is waste of money and a roster spot. A completely unnecessary signing.

if you get Hodgson I doubt we will keep Liddle given we have simpkin and peachey who can also play hooker

Peach cannot pay hooker perhaps tannous

I think tannous will be a good player in years to come

What do you reckon is his best position? Halves or #9?

I think it’s hard to judge how good he’ll be just yet, he has only dominated against kids (schoolboy level)

probably 9

Plays halves now, why would you turn him into a 9 for the sake of it

From the Canberra Times today…

The Canberra Raiders are anticipating hooker Josh Hodgson to report to day one of preseason training this week, despite recent speculation surrounding his immediate future which has been linked to the Wests Tigers. Hodgson is scheduled to report for testing on Friday alongside his NRL teammates, and the Raiders' coaching staff expect the 32-year-old to take his place at the club's Braddon headquarters. Suggestions the Englishman was being pursued by the Tigers emerged last month, although any deal which facilitates a potential switch to the joint venture appears to have hit a roadblock with the two clubs reportedly unable to agree upon how much each team should pay of Hodgson's 2022 contract, believed to be worth $900,000. He declined to comment on his immediate future when contacted by The Canberra Times on Tuesday. The 2022 season would be Hodgson's eighth at the Raiders, should he remain in the capital, and the last of a long-term contract he signed in 2017

Seems the Hodgson transfer is not going to happen by all reports seemingly because we had a limit we were prepared to pay towards his contracted amount. As disappointing as that is in my view, I suppose the club are standing by their evaluation of the risk/ reward implications of the signing and not prepared to budge.
Perhaps if Hodgson wanted to get out of Canberra badly enough he would be agitating at his end and they might yet do a deal just to get him out.
Unlike many, I actually believe that hooker/dh position was one of our weakest all season. I don’t think we compared adequately to any top 8 side in this department, with the better dhs leading their teams and certainly their packs strongly in both A and D. WTs in particular suffer from a lack of playmaking options in the spine compared to the better clubs and we desperately need a step up in this position specifically (and from all members of the spine as well).

Hodgeson - believed to be worth $900,000.

If the WTs are entertaining this sort of money in the 2nd or 3rd year of his time here, They have rocks in their head.

Pretty funny that they sponsor a team with no structure whatsoever.
