What’s with all this hate for Laurie? He’s 22 and had played 3 NRL games before coming across. He joined late in the off season. And was expected to fill in an important role in an unsettled spine. Yes he’s got things to work on but so does after one after one year in the top grade.

not hate for Laurie just don't think he is or will be that special tedesco talent nsw Australian fullback etc
Laurie will be a very very solid first grade fullback maybe come five eighth hope he kills it but think will be a key part to a growing spine, not that special freak player

Which comments have expressed hate for him?

Hate might have been a bit strong but you get what I mean

Not many players are. I’d take a good solid fullback at this point. I think he can build towards above being just solid personally.

It’s just an honest assessment imo. There’s nothing unfair about saying he was solid. The fact he was one of our best this year speaks more for the rest of the squad than it does him.

Yep..hes got plenty of potential.
But needs to bulk up a bit which will improve his missed tackle count..and need improve his positional play as fb
I think he can do both...but 2022 is pretty critical for him
Same withLiddle...good potential but needs to improve key areas of his game

Our team needs to put some desire into their tackling so we’re not so reliant on a little fella at the back.

I think most people are agreeing in a roundabout way. He had a good season, not perfect and he probably doesn’t have a ceiling that includes much rep footy. Glad we signed him though, seems tough.

Back up around the ball a bit more, Actually, A LOT more.

Did you know Laurie was 7th in the competition for support plays?

Were the other 6 fullbacks? I’d have him around the 7th best FB in the Comp last year without doing much analysis

Thought Laurie was pretty impressive overall last year, like most young backs coming into first grade they get there because they can attack and it’s up to them to improve there defence as they get stronger and more confident. He should be in for a big year Daine coming into his 2 full nrl preseason, 1 with us and 1 with the panthers. Dillon on the other hand is not ready for nrl, only starting his first nrl preaseason. Yes he shows great potential but he also needs to work hard against men on his defence in the preseason. I’d say the goal for him would be consistency in his game this year in Reggie’s, and maybe get a run late in the year at nrl level if we are a rabble or well out of contention. Both really do look good future prospects for the future

Hear what you're saying, but sometimes you got to take a chance. Look at young Preston, given a chance and appears to have secured a starting first grade spot. I think Dillon can be that special player (fullback) and Laurie shifts to the halves.

If he’s THAT player he’ll make NSW Cup look like school boys.

Makes sense. All effort players. Where did Garner rank. Last?

Yep, Fiji coach is happy too.

Vodafone Fiji Bati coach Jo Rabele said Kevin Naiqama’s move to sign on with the Sydney Roosters had fitted well with his intent to have the veteran lead in the team to next year’s Rugby League World Cup in England.

Via Fiji Times.

Hoping he makes first grade look like school boys. I'll back the kid.

It was announced weeks ago but the DT just wanted to put the boot in again - the headline reads "How roosters trumped tigers in race for veteran" -LOL - honestly this rags journalism gets lower every day. Of course there is not one single quote from anyone associated with the tigers saying we were looking at Kev.
