It’s great to speculate for entertainment purposes.

Perhaps Tartak said Leilua is leaving regardless? Or maybe pacscoe said come back when you have a sensible price, like around 500? Or maybe Sheens had no interest in keeping him so said don’t waste an email chasing him? Now we can choose to have the upper hand in negotiations with the cowboys for 2022.

If we can use the money for Luke Thompson I’d say it is an improvement. Big if though.

We don't need more props. We do need second row forwards and fast centres.

IMO he is peeved that in his opinion his bro has been treated badly. Whilst he is an ok player 700k per season is overs.

He is not a player whom is outstanding week in week out, so ok for him to move on.

The Wests Tigers have suffered another massive recruitment blow, losing outstanding second-rower Luciano Leilua to the North Queensland Cowboys.

The giant edge forward has also asked for a release from the final year of his contract in 2022 to join the Cowboys in the new year.

Shattered Wests Tigers officials are planning to issue a press release on Thursday morning.

The Cowboys have used the money they saved after missing out on barnstorming Penrith Panthers forward Viliame Kikau to sign Leilua on a three-year deal.

The Daily Telegraph understands he will be paid $700,000 a season.

It is known Leilua and his manager, Mario Tartak, have been disappointed with negotiations at the Wests Tigers for the last couple of months.

Little progress has been made since they began talks in August.

The signing of Isaah Papili'i from the Parramatta Eels last week on more than $600,000-a-year was the catalyst for Leilua to look elsewhere.

He felt undervalued.

The Leilua camp insists coach Michael Maguire is not the problem despite the coach’s well publicised falling out with his brother Joey.

It has more to do with the fact Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe has not once spoken to Tartak about the negotiations since August.

Hopefully we pick up Luki from them. Not fussed..bye bye!!!

Hope the cowboys give us a trade otherwise bad luck. Not cut up about Lucy leaving. He is a good attacker but he was a massive reason why our defense sucked last year.

Good to see the Tigers playing their own game and not playing others anymore.

There’s no indication we won’t grant him a release if he asks.

Why would we let him go though? No benefit for us and only negatives. He can hang around another season or we can get something in return

If he starts carrying on like an idiot then maybe get rid of him

If he doesn’t want to be here, no point holding a gun to his head.

We have to at least try and get something out of it. Time will tell i guess

There isn’t much there to pick from. The few decent players they have are on huge money but I guess we could take Taumalolo off their hands since they are wasting him anyway.

Centre IMO by far biggest weakness.

Luciano has some style to his game but is far from being a complete footballer.

I don't think he has the pedigree to ever really become one either.

For the Cowboys, another Esan like signing.
I'll be very surprised if he sees out his contract.

Possibly the best thing Pascoe has contributed in a very long time, but through sheer negligence I may add.

Correct. Luki and Nanai are my top picks, two young talented players. Not many other players worth having a look at

I said this last year with Aloiai. If we keep letting people break their contract when it suits them, this will keep happening.

Moses, Ivan, Matterson, Aloiai, Leilua. It’s a trend that doesn’t happen at other clubs.

Hopefully we don’t get Lee or Pascoe come out tomorrow and say “we won’t be railroaded into releasing him” again.

There’s a decent chance that he wouldn’t be in our Top 13 next year so I agree, let’s get something for him.
