Go after Paulo to partner Stef with twal off the bench
Reserve grade for tamau Musgrove

Musgrove is from a reserve grader, and Twal is becoming one of the most senior members of our pack who isn’t a bench player.

agree on Musgrove, so you would start with twal and Stef ? who would be the bench prop or would you play twal at lock?

Guarantee Stef will leave unless we give him some experienced help. Move off Musgrove and Mikaele

What do you think the cowboys will give us in return for Luciano if he leaves early?

Probably someone like Lachlan Burr

Wot about the Bulldogs out there spending like wild men in the dark , def should be an enquiry into this

This from Gould who stated on Ch 9 Monday League show that when asked about the Tigers he said that the only way for clubs like the Tigers and lower ranked clubs is to build within (developing juniors)..'its not a short term fix'. Well the hypocrisy is mind blowing.

Maybe Gus is another Penrith troll planted to mess up the Dogs cap, like Ivan was here.

Very smart and sneaky if so. Why didn't we think of doing that?

Could be Gus looked at the dogs jrs an thought, they are not good enough/ to far away.
Penriths jnrs were nearly ready, dogs maybe not. Horses for courses. Different situations, different plans.

That’s exactly what’s happened IMO. The dogs nursery is a joke . The best kids play for the tigers or south’s nearby , and anything out west is wearing a panthers or eels jersey , or is being bussed to manly or the roosters a few times a week .
Even we have filled out squad with Queenslanders and kiwis at Wests and the u20s .

The Dogs and Parra aren't clubs like the Tigers - They have money - That they like to spend on the Football Dept.
I remember a few years back now, When the Wests Group (Ashfield / Campbelltown) and Balmain Leagues put in 150k each (300k Total) To the Tigers Football dept.
Canterbury Leagues put in 4 mill.

Dogs were playing in GF's, We were overpaying Adam Blair.

Yea , that’s some 2018 type scenarios there mate . In the last few years the investment in the football department has gone up leaps and bounds , and come the end of this offseason even more .

NRL transfer news: Luciano Leilua quits Wests Tigers to join North Queensland Cowboys
Wests Tigers have been rocked as one of the club’s best players has asked for an immediate release to join an NRL rival.

The Wests Tigers have suffered another massive recruitment blow, losing outstanding second-rower Luciano Leilua to the North Queensland Cowboys.

The giant edge forward has also asked for a release from the final year of his contract in 2022 to join the Cowboys in the new year.

Shattered Wests Tigers officials are planning to issue a press release on Thursday morning.

The Cowboys have used the money they saved after missing out on barnstorming Penrith Panthers forward Viliame Kikau to sign Leilua on a three-year deal.

The Daily Telegraph understands he will be paid $700,000 a season.

Luciano and Joey Leilua.
Luciano and Joey Leilua.
It is known Leilua and his manager, Mario Tartak, have been disappointed with negotiations at the Wests Tigers for the last couple of months.

Little progress has been made since they began talks in August.

The signing of Isaah Papili'i from the Parramatta Eels last week on more than $600,000-a-year was the catalyst for Leilua to look elsewhere.

He felt undervalued.

The Leilua camp insists coach Michael Maguire is not the problem despite the coach’s well publicised falling out with his brother Joey.

It has more to do with the fact Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe has not once spoken to Tartak about the negotiations since August.

Can we send Tamou there as well ..

I’d pay that for Paulo. You could even front end his contract so we won’t be paying as much when he’s older.
2023 900k, 2024 800k, 2025 700k and he’ll be 32 by the time his contract is up

This is a risky contract. I don't know if I'd take that on. Big guys can be hit and miss. Do we need another middle forward ? I'd rather save that money for a gun outside back or a half dependent on how the halves go this season.

Completely agree. We’ve got decent middle forwards atm and a serviceable amount of depth in the front row. I would hate to waste our cap on another prop when we’re short in the halves, hooker and centres. I’d also hate to spend that much on a prop as well.

I dunno, I thought our forwards were one of the worst packs in the comp this year. I think we are short on quality there, but also you are right we are short almost everywhere

There is some quality in our backs we just never get a chance to show it because we get beaten up in the forwards battle. Better forwards will open up space for our spine and outside backs. Laurie, Brooks, AD, Ken and even Noff have shown to be up to FG in the past. Centre is a worry.

Please WT, don't sign Foran. Look what happened to injury prone Balin from Manly, he only played a couple of games and I smell a rat. It also appears that after reading all the posts on this forum that Foran goes against what little WT DNA we have left.

WT'S will always be linked to anyone that is available BUT we are now in good hands with people that know what it's all about. Dare I say our new CULTURE might finally be kicking in.

What culture are you referring to?

If it's the culture that WT leaders and board have no idea about building and evolving a dynamic and responsive NRL club, then I think you're right.

The Sheens, McDonnell and Marshall appointments sums us up perfectly; go for a feel-good junket that is backward looking, reactionary and shambolic.

WOW, they have been here a few weeks and you are shredding them already? Surely wait to see how it all pans out?

You obviously have a master plan about building and evolving a dynamic, responsive club then?

Yep, and it doesn't involve the sad and desperate decisions to bolster the superannuation of Sheens, McDonnell and Marshall.

Privatise it and relocate it. Get rid of the garbage that is the Balmain/Wests Magpies wannabes.

Good plan, basically it is already privatised and it will never happen, but keep dreaming.

You asked for a futuristic plan and I gave one. Describe for us how it is "basically already privatised"?

Sorry, I thought you would have known that West Ashfield RSL basically own the footy club.

Futuristic plans need to be realistic.

Sorry mate, don't have an update but I'd say our chances are improving after LL signing. I don't think we'll know anything until the borders open. I heard the Cowboys are shopping Jordan McLean around. If they can't offload him they won't be able to offer Luki or Nanai anything decent. I'd double down and go for the both of them.

C’mon Hoops? Give the kid a rap by all means , but you’re gilding the Lilly mate..

“Aside from his obvious traits of size, speed and athleticism, Luki made good judges sit up with an effort play against the New Zealand Warriors last season when he chased down a runaway Reece Walsh in a brilliant cover tackle.”

I know the kid is a talent, and has speed, didn’t take Luki much time to catch Walsh, but seriously? To say he made a brilliant cover tackle is a stretch. Luki caught Walsh 12metres from the try line so had plenty of time to nail him and even angle him into touch. Walsh outsmarted him and scored.

Better off shopping in Doubles - Especially if we're asking young blokes to re-locate.
Much more chance of it happening if a best mate is coming with them.

I've also had this opinion when shopping O/S, Cherry picking is harder than pack hunting.
