Obviously some Rumors floating around about cotric and Thompson to the tigers, I was reading a rumour earlier saying if we end up with both of them that the doggies are going to potentially make a run at Paulo, what’s are the forums thoughts on us making a run at Paulo instead of Thompson ? And still try grab cotric ? Or if it’s even possible cap wise, thoughts ? I wonder if we have enquired about Paulo ?

Parramatta is getting picked to pieces.
?

Good to see, the Pennies copping a bit as well:joy_cat:

Thomson and Cotric will make up for this frankly overrated Api news

Mate …. you just need to take a blue pill and chill.
All this negative rubbish …..

Take the blue pill and pretend Api will be good. Take the red pill and understand he'll gladly collect his retirement contract and be half as good as he is now

So current Origin player and premiership and close to best on field in the GF who is only 29 is only going to be half as good in 12 months. What an absolute delight you Must be to be around

Cook is the first No9 picked in origin.

Api is ok but gonna be onthe wind down as he hits 31+

If it was 2022, then I would be excited.

You're suggesting his age will be a barrier? I don't see it at all, current training techniques have extended a lot of careers? Hooker has a lot to do with mind speed as well? C Smith, Marshal come to mind.

Only of their own doing. They chose to let Api go. Kikau was for cap reasons.

Im not prepared to loose jake Simpkin.

This signing would be perfect to keep him. An experienced dummy half to ease him into grade and in 3 years it’s his team. I think It works well for all

Yeah I'm sure Simpkin would happily wait around for 3 more years in reserve grade decreasing his market value. Signing Api will mean we'll lose an absolute young gun. Not a smart move

Not sure anyone really sees it that way tbh. Simpkin can still play his role off the bench or start if Api is injured. Simpkin is definitely not physically up to starting every game and playing 80mins and Lids is so far off what this team needs atm. There's a place for both Simpkin and Api.

Disagree, Simpkin will want out. He didn't re-sign to be in reserve grade

How old is he? I wouldn’t think he would be expecting to first choice hooker for another couple of years, at least, maybe longer?

Only just turned 20, still elligible for Flegg.

It's incredible that a guy who is STILL eligible for Flegg played numerous 80 min games for us last year, he will be a top 3 hooker in the game over his career. I'm not hyped with this Api signing because I guarantee Simpkin has one foot out the door after this. We're letting go of a 20 year old future star to sign a 30 year old pretty good one - and we aren't in a premiership window.

Inb4 everyone says Simpkin will wait his turn - you don't think the Dolphins will be offering him a chance to start and return home to Queensland? You think he'd rather stay here playing reggies?

He played one 80 minute game, his debut, not numerous. It’s amazing the amount of people on this forum who are in his inner circle. Never have I seen more knowledge of people knowing what a player is going to do and where he’s going to go if he doesn’t get his own way. The fact many make him out to be a stone kicker isn’t exactly a good way to sell him to those still on the fence about him.

It's all guesswork, same as it's all guesswork around whether Liddle will stay in 2023. Club seems to like them both and will try get them to stick around I'm sure

An astute signing on multiple levels, watching origin I thought his selection was interesting given that cook plays 80mins, Freddy had commented that he wanted to reward good form, and his efforts in camp. Arguably top 5 in his position with Cook and Grant ahead and possibly Reed and himself just behind.

I am still in shock that someone of his caliber signed with us, happy shock though.

As for the question regarding age, injuries might take a little longer to heal post 30, but in terms of pure speed(a defining trait of a modern no 9) it should not be affected, in fact the majority of the world records set by men over the past 20 years in 100m sprints are done by those 30+, going back to Linford Christie 34 when he broke.

Both Christie and Bolt are possibly clean, but the rate of improvement over time for all sprinters would suggest that being in your 30's does affect speed, only injury.

What about the idea of Brandon Smith to the Panthers for 1 year and Api released to the Tiges early?

Why wouldn't the Roosters just sign Brandon Smith for 2022? They have never had trouble fitting people under the cap before.

You would think Melbourne would have already offered him to the rorters for next year. They would have plenty left in their cap even if they subsidised his 2022 contract. It would start a real dominos effect. Roosters would probably let Verrills go and i could see both parra and panthers going hard for him which would free up either Mahoney or Api for 2022.

COULD THIS BE WT'S ???🤞🤞🤞🤞

Which NRL club is about to announce the appointment of two of Sydney's biggest corporate high flyers, one of whom has a personal wealth of hundreds of millions of dollars. This club will have a board as powerful and influential as the Rorters

Liddle and Koroisau will work together. Both have x factor and playing both in shorter periods will bring out the best in them and a better result for WTs. SImpkin can learn in the NSW Cup remembering Grant was in his early 20s when he secured a regular starting position at WTs.

Utoikamanu and the young prop from the Knights - Chritisian ____________ (apologies I can't find his surname) are an outstanding pairing. Being a former prop himself, I'm sure Sheens will recognise their talent to build our new team around. Having Sheens aboard will improve our chances ten fold of retaining Utoikamanu and our other talented young players.

Will be interesting to see what plans moving forward the club does have for Christian Ma'anaima. Seems like he has some good wraps on him. I guess a spot in the Top 30 for 2022 might depend on whether or not Luke Thompson does come across, as some have mentioned. Hopefully Christian has been impressing at training so far!

I would hope that Fonua Pole has a huge year too and will be looking to push for a spot 2023 onwards.

There are definitely a lot of great forwards coming through the ranks, just need to retain the right ones.

Hundreds of millions is way below Harry T's billions.
Worse thing our management did (over the years) is not get him more involved.

Completely agree. Did some research to hopefully resolve some of my own concerns.

Ennis helped get the dogs to a grand final at 30, and was hooker when the Sharks won the premiership at 32. Hodgson has a massive year when the Raiders went to the grand final at 30. This year Cook was hooker for Souths in the grand final at 30. Cam Smith played til he was nearly 50.

IMO, it’s actually an advantage to have your 9,6,7 to be at the back end of their careers.

Interesting, but not sure you automatically get a seat on the board at WT’s unless someone vacates?

Heard something about the Rabbitohs.

Can’t believe how impotent the Dolphins have been so far. The only real marquee left for them to sign is Ponga, who I imagine they probably will get. They aren’t going to have much else by the look of it though.
