He's got 4 years left on his Dragons contract. Why does he keep getting mentioned by people as someone to target

You’re forgetting Luke Brooks.

Thompson is 800k

Brooks is on 900k

No he’s not

His previous contract was circa 550k I think it was upgraded to 650/700k.

He’s been upgraded more than once.
He’s easily on $800- $850k … unfortunately.
Why do you think he wants to stay … and nobody wants him at that price?

With Cotric heading back to Canberra I’m 100% confident that James Roberts will get a new contract for 2022 Thompson could still happen to fill our squad because I reckon that the final 2 spots will be 1 back and 1 forward the back is definitely JTJ if its not its one of our lower grade players and the final spot could be that guy we signed from Knights Christian I think his name is if we aren’t trying for Thompson

You only get to take 100k off one long serving player as far as I am aware.
That is off the cap - he still gets the money.

Maybe they will play more ball with us regarding how much they cover if Canberra was willing to pay more for Cotric.

I like the idea of us at least making out we are going for Paulo so the dogs will think again and maybe reduce the costs for us. Nothing like been sneaky

Giving JTJ an NRL contract is admitting defeat for 2022 before it begins. He's nowhere near good enough anymore
